  1. I am learning to like PS. FPS games were not my cup of tea, but this is a lot of fun. I am a casual player (i.e. not very good). I play as "Cavalier" on Emerald (TR), the other east coast server (NC), and one of the west coast ones (VS) (I can't think of the name this moment). Would love to see something like this on xbox live. All things considered, I would rather play while relaxing on a couch in front of a big tv than hunched over my pc.
  2. Rhune, are you playing BCM or BCMG?
  3. Rhune, were you operating in a super-high resolution (e.g. 1600 x 1200)? If so, your video card may not have enough memory, and so CTD (this happened with me). Try deleting the bcconfig file in your BCMG directory. When you re-load the game, go to config and start with resolution of 1024x768. Alternatively, try loading bcconfig in notepad and find the "resolution" variable to see what it is. If it is set for 1600x1200, manually change it to 1024x768. Hope that works.
  4. I only save and exit. I had saved at two points relatively close in time. The first was the one I wanted to restore (the second had me down for a violation when I missed an illegal item in my inventory). After playing the second, I was unable to restore the first save game (same symptoms that people are posting about), even after re-booting. I found though, that after starting a new game (or even a much earlier save game), I was able to restore the save I wanted (the one several minutes prior to getting the violation). I then played for about half an hour and saved in a new slot. When I go home tonight, I will see if it restores. (Please note that my current sig is my office machine- I will put my home profile on later). [ 05-08-2003, 06:06 PM: Message edited by: EricR ]
  5. I am starting to have the save game problem as well. When I restore the game, it hangs right around the "linking " message. Usually, I hear the bridge chatter turn on and it hangs. I found, though that if I restore a previous game save, then exit, then restore the later game save, it works. I then immediately saved it, but the game save won't restore either. I am currently on TODO2/2 of original BCM ACM. I will keep trying though - Eric
  6. quote:Originally posted by fenixfireblade: This sounds like it's related to a problem I'm researching right now regarding FCs and FC bays getting mismatched. Try this: Use the tactical->launch menu to assign flight engineers to prep your FCs INSTEAD of tactical->crew (note: If you already have FEs assigned to prep from the crew menu make sure to remove them first, put them on station or something, THEN assign from launch menu). Tell me if it works. It worked! I sent the flight engineers off duty, then when to tactical-->launch to reassign them, and it worked! Thanks! - Eric
  7. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Or you could just have deleted the BCCONFIG.INI file and the game will create a new one with the defaults Leave it to me to do things the hard way quote: And how did you get to 1600x1200? Or did you mean 1280x1024, since thats the highest resolution that is exposed in CONFIG.In config, I was able to set it to 1600x1200 (my monitor supports that resolution) but it returned immediately to desktop on exit. Had to back it down to 1280x1024. Having a blast though with BCMG! - Eric
  8. I noticed that when I configured BCM Gold to 1600x1200, it crashed to desktop, and would do so whenever I launched the game (note: I was using old nVidia drivers at the time, and have not tested this problem with the latest drivers). I was able to fix the issue by going to the BCM Gold install folder, launching "bcconfig.ini" and changing the "Resolution=" variable (set to "Resolution=1600x1200") to "Resolution=1024x768". The game launched fine after that. - Eric
  9. Richard, maybe this would work: park your cc as close as possible to the disabled FC, send your AE into it, scroll thru tascan targets until you surmise you are targeting the bc, and then alt-d I did something similar when I ran out of radine crystals (most systems shut down as a result)- I had a sc tow the cc to "fly to" a station. I scrolled through tascan targets until I surmised (from the range value) that I was targeting the station, and then hit alt-d when I was close enough. It worked. Bought 800 radine... but I forgot that I had to turn my engine back on after Finally remembered after about 20 min of pulling my hair out trying to figure out why all systems were down - Eric
  10. I have a related question. I have been informed that my FC4 is offline (after returning from battle) and I can't seem to get it back online. Although the flight engineers were able to get the other fc's ready, they can't seem to get FC4 ready. I repaired all damage to it. The things that are odd about it are that its reactor charge is only 8% (and I can't seem to recharge it), and it seems to be in FC bay 3 (at least, that is where the flight engineers go to prep it). I have taken all flight engineers off duty to rest them, then put them back to readying FC4. No luck- it remains offline with no eta on availability (and it remains at 8% charge). My BC MK3 has no damage to FC systems/bays (at least, I repaired everything to 100%)Any suggestions? - Eric

I am on Gawaine. I do think though that a DS high fantasy MMORPG based on the BCO technology would do well. - Eric
  12. Mmm... BCO.... and make a high fantasy world and I will be in heaven. - Eric
  13. Other than sci fi games (which appear to be perfected in the upcoming BC titles), I enjoy high fantasy settings. I thought I liked Everquest, until I looked up from my computer after camping a rare spawn (Minotaur Hero) for hours and realized I wasn't really having any fun. I switched to Dark Age of Camelot, which is faster paced, but other than the PvP aspect, the world, like EQ with its endless respawning, reminds me of the movie "Groundhog Day." Nothing ever really changes. What these worlds lack are nations/castes, each with their own agenda, and with the ability to attack their neighbors and alter the player's environment. I would love to see a DS Simulation tackle this genre. Cities would be like starbases/stations, sending out patrols and armies (if they are aggressive). Over time, alliances (between NPCs, players or both) would form and break, wars be fought, cities captured, and the world would constantly be evolving. I know that newer games, like Shadowbane will attempt this, but I don't think they would come close to the kind of dynamic world that DS could create. What do you think? - Eric
  14. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: *phew* someone finally gets it...but from a different perspective entirely. In fact, I am tempted to even classify all the assets into race/caste sections, in much the same way I have the Stormcarrier accessible to Gammulan Military only. The problem is that we have so many races/castes, and believe it or not, not that many ships to go around. For eg, if I make only the Battlecruiser class accessible to Terrans, Empirians and Vesperons, and Aestroms to, say, the Zelons, it could get diverse very quickly but most will be pissed. Imagine wanting for fly a Firestorm, but as a Terran Military Commander, you don't have access to it. I've been thinking about that a lot. So, should I do it or leave it as is? My vote is for race/caste specific assets with overlap (e.g. insurgents, mercs, assassins, etc.). Do you still have that MS Word proposed asset distribution I sent you a while back? If not, I can re-send it Eric
