  1. I'd like to second the boss and welcome you aboard Wraith Fleet. It's nice to see a new face in our ranks.
  2. Let's just say that trying to manage a 40-45 hour a week job, 16 hours of classes at university and a girlfriend halfway across the country took away any bit of free time I had. I'm now down to a 40 hour a week job, so I've got a bunch more free time. And Wolferz, what's wrong with being part of the Methusela Corps? Aside from the fact that I'm still waiting on the SC to start sending me my benefits check!
  3. Papi, I'd like to welcome you aboard on behalf of Wraith. Even if it's TDY it's good to see another Commander at Wraith HQ. Remo, many thanks for lending us such a capable officer even if it's only for a while.
  4. Application approved and confirmation sent. Glad to see you're still here.
  5. Thanks for the congrats, guys. I hope I'm not a pain in the SC's posterior either. Of course, I've also been here long enough to know my way to the airlock if I did.
  6. I think some revision of my own bio is in order. If I follow it as it stands, "I" am 75 years old, and am well past retirement. I'm surprised that they haven't "forced" it on me.
  7. Checked, and replied. You also might want to do a little updating of your sig, sir. quote:DREADA is the commander of Wraith fleet at security level 3
  8. Commander Benjamin Somerset and the crew of GCV Swiftsure reporting for duty. Congratulations on the promotion, Dreada. SIN Wing stands ready for your orders.
  9. If guys don't pay for sex, then why in the hell do we have to buy a woman dinner, gifts, and such in order to sleep with them?
  10. Sapporo is available in the States, at least it is here. Not on tap, and only at a few bars, but still quite good. One of my faves though is Harp, which I believe comes from Scotland, and Boddington'd but that's kinda hard to find around here.
  11. Ben Somerset

    Hello?

As part of the command echelon in the fleet I would like to say that I appreciate your concern. I'd like to say that I could dedicate a good portion of my time to this Fleet but at the moment that wouldn't be true. I can and should dedicate more time to it, however. Server support so we could start training would be excellent because I don't have a server nor the experience to appropriately run it. For some time I've had a set of standard orders made up for my Wing, which are not implemeneted at the present time because MP has not been an issue with which we have had to deal with seriously until recently. Yes, I do agree that we should begin some form of training with one another so we can be prepared for BCO and provide a good showing for our Fleet. One idea may be for everyone to get a copy of BCMG and GBS-II so we can come up with our own training scripts to run in MP to practice with since some of us haven't had the opportunity to acquire UC yet. Commander Pool, I do apologize if some of your messages have been unanswered. If you wish to message me you can do so anytime at [email protected] or PM me. I may not be back to you immediately but you can expect a reply back within 24 hours. And by the way, it's Somerset's Sinners, who do happen to enjoy the summertime.
  12. With the way this election is going right now, I've almost half a mind not to go vote because I'm not too terribly fond of either candidate. I agree with Bush's actions in the war on terror in that we got the Taliban out of Afghanistan because they were harboring the terrorists in the first place. I also agree that Sadaam Hussein needed to be removed from power in Iraq, but I don't agree with the reasoning the government used at the time. There's been more than a little talk in this thread about whether or not there were WMD's in Iraq, but I'm not going to believe it until I see someone in uniform standing next to a confirmed chemical or biological weapon. Thus far, the military hasn't found anything. Doesn't mean they won't but it does mean that one of the main reasons the government had for justifying the war was inaccurate. And no, don't tell me that was because the intel we got from the Brits was wrong. What do we have the CIA for? I'm also still waiting on that wonderous tax break he spent so much time talking about. Uncle Sam is still getting about 20% of every one of my paychecks. When you only make ~23000 a year, that's a helluva lot of money. I'm also a wee bit wary of some of those "Patriotic" laws that have been put into place. The Fibbies aren't ever going to want my financial records, but it doesn't sit well with me that they can get them any time they want without a court order. What in hell ever happened to something called privacy? As for Kerry, he has yet to show me why exactly he'd be a good choice for President. What are his foreign policy goals, how is he going to stimulate the economy, and how can I get some of that patented John Kerry "Stay Put" hair? Yes, I applaud and appreciate his service to our country, but just serving doesn't automatically qualify you to run for President. As for whether Bush should use 9/11 images in his campaign ads, that's what history is going to remember him for. It was definitely a moment when he shined as President and of course they believe it's important for the public to be reminded of that. In a time of crisis for the country the President stood tall and spoke for us all. Is it wrong? I don't think so, as long as it doesn't show disrespect to the event or the lives lost in it. From what I've seen it doesn't.
  13. I've been looking at getting an iPAQ 1945. 64MB memory, fast enough processor, bluetooth, good sized color screen and Pocket PC 2003 make it ideal and you can get a good deal on EBay. The 5455 would be sweet but it's a wee bit out of my price range at the moment.
  14. A very happy birthday to you. Congrats on the girlfriend. I hope you both enjoyed this birthday, and that the next one is even better than this one.
  15. quote:For example, deploying on an away mission with a team of carrier based marines without the combat officer, results in low morale and largely ineffective combat tactics by the marines - all of which could possibly lead to a botched mission.Does this mean that Resnig either finally went to combat school or he died in an unfortunate airlock mishap? Effective tactics are foreign to his vocabulary, low morale is his middle name, and a botched mission happens every time he's on station.
  16. They'll be generous enough to sell the stuff that guy stole back to her for what they bought it off him for? They may qualify for a little bit more than a Hall of Shame. More like Hall of Money-grubbing retards. I mean come, on, with a multi-billion dollar company you can spend a measly 87 bucks for some good PR.
  17. Welcome aboard, Jonathan! Your reg may not be active yet because the boss man sometimes gets a little overloaded from all that RL stuff. Don't fear, he'll get it taken care of.
  18. quote:They are NOT going to get away with it. Period. I'd die first, before I see that happen.Go get 'em SC. I'm very disappointed to see that a corporation that should be interested in making money (DC) is going to drop to such a low level to get some minor "revenge" on the RC fiasco. This is shooting themselves in the head because: 1) They will barely be able to cover their own expenditures at the 19.99 price point 2) No developer in their right mind will sign with them again knowing how they've treated developers in the past. So, with no developers to make games and no gamers to buy the games that are no longer being developed DC can kiss themselves goodbye. Is it good to know that you've signed your own death sentence?

  20. I'm thinking about getting the Game Commander, because it sounds some kind of awesome, but 75 bucks is coming close to my "Ridiculously expensive for a 5MB program" limit. Is it really worth that much?
  21. Don't remember if I ever posted why I named my ship Swiftsure in this thread, but I don't think I did. Originally it was because I read it in the Star Trek novel Spock's World and thought it was cool. Only after some internet searching did I find out that she was the class ship of some of the Royal Navy's attack submarines, a light cruiser in WWII, a 74 that fought at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, and a ship that fought the Spanish Armada in 1588. Quite a lineage for a ship. I didn't realize it at the time, but I picked a wonderful name to carry into the 31st century.
  22. quote:i thought you fight for your country, and some die in the process.George Patton also had a wonderful comment on that as well; "The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his."
  23. Now if that ain't attention to military protocol right there!
  24. quote:Shortly before Christmas, the FBI issued a terror alert to beware of drivers with maps, or reference books.Hmmm...a driver with a map in their car. Wanting to know how to get somewhere if I get lost is now a threat to national security?
  25. I'm a fan of both shows. While I'm a Star Trek fanatic for life, most of those shows lacked the quality of story arcs that took the characters through change that affected them in later seasons, aside from DS9 as aforementioned. I loved B5 because of its 5 year long story-arc that took the characters through sweeping worlds of change. Just look at Londo in season 1 vs. season 5. In season 1 he was happy go lucky, but he didn't have everything he wanted. By season 5 he had what he wanted, only to realize that he didn't want it in the first place. The great acting and storyline are what made that show what it was. On the other hand, Farscape is more of a comedy than drama. I didn't watch it for the drama, though it did have it via Crais and Scorpious, but for the funny moments provided by things like Harvey and Areyn's attempts to learn the English language and getting it wrong. It's kind of like SG-1 in that Richard Dean Anderson said that the show has been a closet comedy for years. It mixes some drama with humorous material. Though I have to admit that I really hate the way Sci-Fi jipped us because the "We're so Screwed" episodes were downright hilarious, and gave us the most pitiful ending to the series. Thankfully there's going to be a mini-series to fix that godawful mistake.
