  1. Sent #4 into Tacops today. Watch it BCFreak. Were going to be out there.
  2. Hah! sent in my idea for police logo to tacops today.
  3. Transfering some important info to here. quote:Posted by Cmdr Nova: quote: ---------------------------------------- Originally posted by Supreme Commander, on the New Commander thread quote: ------------------------------- You have your work cut out for you. If you want a unified gif you become a fleet. Guess what? Not possible with "indies". ------------------------------- Indies can have theirs I think, its just that I don't want it abused. I mean, you could have several Raider caste factions, all with a different insignia. Then again, who said there was anything organized about Raiders anyway? ---------------------------------------- Hmmm. Just wanted to bring this up. C'mon, the SC said it................. If someone makes up some sort of name, I can make an animated gif, when I get around to it. If it isn't abused, like Derek said. And, if its okay with him. quote:Posted by Charles Lindsey: quote: ---------------------------------------- How much is too much? (ie: how many is too many) ---------------------------------------- The premise is that you will be able to cooperate in BCM. So if You (Shingen), Outlaw, and Nova decided to band together, play online together, create a gif, and use it when posting that would be cool. Another group of guys would do the same. I can foresee many (however many different, consistent groups there are) different gifs being used. Just so long as every indie doesn't create his own gif I think all is cool. quote: ---------------------------------------- Are we limited to one 'indie guild' (with one logo) or are we able to build a few. (I don't want a whole lots of different 'sects' floating around, each with thier own logos, but I don't want to be limited to just one guild/logo for indies...(unless it's really kewl!)) ---------------------------------------- No you are not limited to one "indie guild". In fact, that's what I am stating what I feel would almost be considered a fleet. You guys are supposed to be diverse. You should have several "sects" floating around. So if several of you play together regularly then you should post under one "sect" name and use the same gif. Talk to Tac. He has played in several online WWII combat flights sims from what I read and he would probably have some good advice about such "sects" . Now who has the minutes from the last meeting? The indie guys were going to be called something. Sect isn't quite right but I forget. Anyone have that info off the top of their head? quote:Posted by Supreme Commander: Yep. I say it would actually go under corporation in the logo page. Look at the steps above and then read up on those old conversations, to help. Its a hard thing to do, making a corporation/guild. I hope you suceed where I failed...... There just weren't enough interested mercs at the time. Now I've set my sights on Police organizationing. Like that's even a word. Check Fleet Related Discussions and check Police Caste if you want to. There might be some info that relates to a Trader Caste Organization. [ 07-04-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  4. If you want an official guild/corp/(fleet) or whatever you said made, first make your sig in good form. Here is the most common: quote: Name (Race/Caste) Prefix-Ship Name, Home Station (Station's Planet) "Quote" Logos (Race->Organization->Fleet->Wing) OR (Race->Corporation) The Quote part is optional for a proper sig. The Organization->Fleet->Wing only is used for Galcom/Earthcom/Insurgency members at this time, and most still don't have fleet or wing logos yet (but who knows; soon we will have one of our own organizations). Prefixes are as follows: GCV = Galcom Command Vessel ICV = Insurgent " " ECV = Earthcom " " UCV = Undesignated Command Vessel So if you're not in Galcom/Earthcom/Insurgency, then your an indie, and are a UCV (hmmm both police and criminal have the same prefix; heh, something to think about). You can also use this for your ship part quote:Prefix-Ship Name (Ship Type) If you read the Asset Choices Page, you'll find out that you (as a trader) can only select an unarmed transport. Read up on the Ship Types (does anyone know where to get them?), they were in the Episode 1 demo. Also look at the Galaxy Map if you want to chose a homebase, because since you're an indie, you don't have a higher ranking officer to chose it for you. --- Next, Register in the Fleet DB Here: http://www.bc3000ad.com/fleets/db/ First click register, and it will take you through the process. The username field is your Message Board username (Holo Z'lani). Okay, you can't create a fleet. You're an Indie. One of us non-affiliated guys. Don't buy into their propaganda on how great they are. What you want is a Corporation, or maybe a Guild. If you want to create a guild, get some other trader or commercial people to support you and send in the idea in. Who to send it to, I don't really know cuz this is something we indies still haven't done yet. Can someone shed light on this? If they okay it, you should (must?) make a logo. Read excerpt from Logo Page: quote:All user created fleet, corporation, wing and logos for similar groups, must be submitted to Tactical Operations for approval, before they can be used. All user created material designed for use in 3000AD products, become the property of 3000AD, Inc. It has to be 74x88 pixels, and should use black as the background color. --- No one has ever done this before, and I was trying to make a merc guild before I went cop, but no one really strongly supported it. Check "Know Your Role" Page 3, and start reading from the 4th message on. The information above is what I've gathered in my short 4 months here. Good luck, and see you in the stars. Also, if you traders get some cargo stolen, you know who to call............ (Sheesh, that was the longest message I have ever written...) [ 07-04-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  5. Baloogan, is that prob with the ingame icons? Or the main menu? Mine is ingame, and I believe it's a Rage problem. I have a Rage 128 (16mb Video Ram), which has been working with all direct x games I've played. --- Upgraded to latest drivers. Some help, but no avail. IA1 finally starts to run, then after you leave the station, when the cockpit is supposed to show, it kicks to windows. Still have ingame HUD and icon glitching. --- In episode 3, I went up, and exited the planet, and it went to windows, too. --- Yes, I truly beleive it is the ATI Rage that is causing it, but I, too, am curious as to how I got E1 to run, and can still play it right now. 6. quote:Posted by crivens Hmmmmm, the HUD graphics flash sparodically. Same prob here. Episode 1 works fine, but it's E2 that has that problem. My system: Celeron 500 64MB Ram ATI All-In-Wonder 128 (Rage 128 Chipset) Windows ME Default Drivers DirectX 8 Will try upgrading drivers tonite. First IA loads, and kicks me to windows when it's supposed to start playing. The 3 others have strange flashing HUD, all icons flashing, and menu (the blue ingame menu when you click on an icon on the left) is transparent/flashing too. The huge moving box glitch on the ground is present, too, but read FAQ and know about ATI's driver problems with that. 7. Well Spuzzum, it is Canada Day, after all (at least for another 2 hrs here in Scarborough). Still thinking about what style to use. I think Chav's got a good idea..... [ 07-04-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  8. And I'll be back in the US for July 4th (if I'm sober enough to get there)!!!! Twice the partying for me.........
  9. Well, since I've been up here since last week, I'm gonna celebrate too! Canada rules! I just might move here someday (once I get used to using KM instead of miles)........
  10. I'm in Canada right now for a wedding. The download screwed the first time, and I didn't have any time for a second try. I'm pretty happy that my friends have cable and a CD Burner. 60.4~100 KB/sec and I'm browsing the internet at the same time!
  11. Sorry guys... I'm up here in Scarborough, Ontario in Canada. I just went to a wedding yesterday. Great to hear some support. Thanks for the input. I'll be back home by mid-week. Canada rules!
  12. Scotty, SC said he didn't implement the realistic flight physics yet, and is WIP. Check the WIP section on the VCF, and it's there, under Newtonian Flight Dynamics (i think). That probably will solve most of your qualms about the game, considering that's what you complained mostly about..... --- quote:Posted by LordDavid: One thing I like about the demo is that on planets, I can see for miles and miles unlike Tribes 2. On some Tribes 2 maps, I can barely see past the gun that is infront of my face due to some strangely dense fog. I had that problem a while ago, myself. It was a driver issue with OpenGL, and it's fogging effects. Since BCM doesn't use OpenGL, but DX8, you don't get that effect with BCM. Try some driver updates, and try updating OpenGL by going to GLSetup.com and installing the newest OpenGL driver for your card. The install program autodetects your card, downloads it's corresponding OpenGL files, and installs it to your system, automatically (so you don't download the wrong thing). 13. Well, 2.8kbps on 3dgamers...... I told you my phone lines were bad. My 56k doesnt even live up to a 33.6k. I've tried changing isps, access numbers, and other stuff. The phone company does say it's the lines... Oh well. At least in 12hrs,11min, I'll have the demo!!! lol..... At least I'm okay with leaving the internet on that long (unlimited monthly access, and all). I hope I'm not missing any important calls....
  14. Well, I'm busy. I seem to agree that the bird fits in. SC said that the GalCom logo had the same terran bird, even though GalCom had other races as well (vice versa with the terran race thing; and SC said it was not up for complaints). I think since the main police force is sided with GalCom, then the bird should stay. And thanks aramike; I like 4 also, but think it needs some touching up on the little coat-of-arms thing in the middle. Will work on it later (will be based on #4).
  15. Wonderfull, Derek! Our call has been answered....... Yay! quote:Posted by nos4a2: Does anyone know E2's size? Um the HC version at FilePlanet is 121.4 MB (according to their download page). Don't see any word of a LC version (see readme file). (stares at 56k modem) Lol, it's gonna be a long night. --- LINKS REMOVED [ 06-22-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ] [ 06-22-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  16. Yep, even now, we still use the same old .18 micron size P6 (intel pentium 1,2, and 3, most amd chips), or .2 micron size P7's (pentium 4). The new chip should be around .05 or less microns, which means we can get almost 4 times power from the same size chip (size wise). The heating is the final problem, which is solved by changing the base to copper/carbon; which is what IBM has been researching since early 2000, and is still in development, due to copper eventually causing some chemical reactions, which ruins the silicon during long periods of time. 17. quote:...anybody know how long it may take...even though its not officially out is it still ready for shipping ? Not officialy out is just scratching the surface. What, do you think the game is done, and they are just waiting for the release date to go before selling? That would be a serious mistake, considering that creating a game is harder than you'd ever think. The new engines, and graphics are cutting-edge, making the process a little tougher. Don't worry, though. They're almost done. The main parts of the game are complete, and will be in the Episode 2 Demo (still waiting--was supposed to be released 6-20 and its now 6-22, due to 3rd-party ftp host problems). A long time back, the original release date was (i think) 5/7/01, and has been tentative. Current release date is 7/2/01. Probably might change, as more of the game gets debugged, and fixed. The dev process and the speed they do it at relys on the Beta Testers, and their wonderful efficiency. I'd be surprised to have even have 1 demo, had SC not started Beta last year. --- For all you newbies, SC is Supreme Commander, aka Derek Smart, creator of the BC games. Supreme Commander is his username here on the message board. [ 06-22-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  18. Like I said, it's probably in a private directory (or the download directory itself is set to private), and to get in you need an admin username and password.
  19. Uh, read the Demo Readme File. First off, the game hasn't gone gold yet. The Version Control File will give you a hint on how much more development is left. In simpler terms, it ain't ready for shipping yet. The VCF (above) also shows work in progress, known bugs, and other stuff still to do before releasing the game. The smaller the list becomes, the closer we are to having the game released.
  20. It doesn't work because FilePlanet doesn't have it on that download mirror yet. It's probably on their regular server, but is in a private directory, waiting to be posted by a FP admin, at Derek's command.
  21. k then. I'll try to have something done this weekend (maybe sat. night, sunday).
  22. Hey, yeah. With BCM coming, I can't wait to get in multiplayer and do whatever online. I cant think of any other game to play this summer (well Diablo 2 expansion pack isn't really a game, but you get the point) I only got into the BC universe in December 2000, and I'm still playing BC3k as of now. After playing the 1st BCM demo, I'm getting sorta impaitient for it. See ya later Scotty!
  23. Nice lurk work. 21 posts since Jul 99! That's nearly 2 yrs, and I'm here with 100+ and I've only been here since March! Good job indeed! Just for that, I'm giving you the 5-star rating! Well, I hope you come back to post at least once every few months....... I'll still probably be around, or at least playing BCM or GCO's multiplayer.
  24. LOL!!!! Oh, my god.... That was one of the funniest stories I have ever heard! And when was the last time you played/thought of BC before you said that? Was that his real name, and you didn't notice until then, or was his name different, and you just mispronounced it by accident, and then from the deep bellows of hell suddenly remember BC?
  25. Updated logos for Police caste: (note, version 1 was the plain generic police one above) Version 2: http://members.aol.com/commandernovaucv/te...lice-logo-2.jpg Version 3: http://members.aol.com/commandernovaucv/te...lice-logo-3.jpg Version 4: http://members.aol.com/commandernovaucv/te...lice-logo-4.jpg These are the candidates for the Police Caste (terran? any race???) logo. #2 looks a bit too flashy, though. I wanted to see what the fog would do to it when it was done. I could remove it later, if decided. #3 is the same thing, no ships, no fog. Sweet and simple. #4 is #2, without ships. --- Uh, I like 4 the best, but 3 is the simplest version which matches the galcom, and terran logos. I think it would be #3 if it became official. Still waiting for some police person to agree with me. (Spuzzum... Where are you??) --- Update: Fixed some markup errors, and filename misspellings....... Added 3rd & 4th pics.
