  1. Happy 40th, Boss! Hm.... Can't say I'll be turning 40 anytime this decade. Or the next, for that matter.
  2. [ooc] Hey Blades. Sneaking back in on us, are we? [/ooc] "Well, at least I'm back here instead of stuck on the ship now." Just as he'd finished speaking, someone else chimed in. "and apparently afraid of the purple eared cat, mmm?" So she'd overheard. Great, Nova thought to himself sarcastically. Here comes trouble, I guess. She took a seat next to Vic and continued, "Seems like you've finally got some down time, ne? Nothing worthy of intrest 'cides the Gammulans lately, huh?" "Well, if it isn't the deathwish," Nova said slyly. "And yeah, I got some downtime, finally. I've been out there for like, three months, and sure, command was pretty sweet at first, but it gets old fast when you patrol the same empty place for weeks on end. Sh**, I think we've only seen like a handful of ships period, much less combat going on. Nothin' of interest out there 'cept space dust and empty vacuum." Nova paused. Get a hold of yourself. You're freaking out. Don't lose yourself all at once. Yeah, easy for you to say, Nova retorted to himself. Try getting stuck with a bunch of idiot newbie marines, an uptight crew, and your sanity for a few months. At least Vic has some common indie roots in him. ..What kind of idiot argues with himself in his own head? The kind of idiot who enlists randomly and gets stuck patrolling vacant space for a few months as a first command duty, replied his other side. Nova put himself together, and took a good look at Akuma. "Sorry, am I a bit *****y to you? I do that all the time." She grinned. Great. She thinks I'm crazy now. "I don't think we've introduced ourselves, although I think I remember you. I'm alec Nova, commander of the Supremacy. And this here's Vic, flight officer. Worst in the business." Vic nodded. "And he's damn right about that, too," he chuckled. He turned to drink some more of his beer, pretending not to listen to the conversation. Nova continued, "And you're Akuma, right? Yeah, I thought I remembered you. That Black Ops. Stint at Golgotha and such. That's right around the time I enlisted. Heard you resigned from command right around then, too. What'cha been up to? I'm damn sure you've had more goin' for you than me." [ooc] I love inconsistent writing styles. Half the time, I come up with an idea, write it down, and then when I'm typing it or something, I'm in a completely different mood, and add parts and revise crap, and suddenly, all my posts seem to be written in a different way. Yes, I feel like ranting a ton right now. Talkative. Blah. Etc. mmm....mountain dew. [/ooc] [and again] Yeah, and sometimes I feel like getting in Nova's head, sometimes I don't. And half the time, I'll change my idea of the post when I'm at the end of writing it. lol. [/ooc]

    Roster

Found an old roster text file that I was looking for. I'm putting something together to knock your socks off.

    Roster

This is a full-scale calling out of the fleet. Blades, GMAN, or Ep5, do you still have an updated roster of the fleet? If so, forward it to me. I'd like all Orion personnel to report in with the following data in this format. If you do not wish to disclose contact information to the general public of the boards, e-mail it to me, instead (with the same format). ----- rank (; fleet position(s)) AE name battle group/service wing ship {if applicable} ship class {if applicable or if already chosen} State or Province, Country Time Zone: +/- ?? GMT (Age) E-Mail Address (E-Mail Address 2) (E-Mail Address 3) (etc) (AOL Instant Messenger ScreenName) (ICQ #) Parenthesis are optional things, but the more info we have, the better. ----- Here would be my post: Commander; Public Relations Officer Alec Nova Deterence Battle Group GCV - Supremacy Spacestar Super Cruiser Missouri, USA GMT -6 16 [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] AIM: HTMLjedi ICQ: 123512799 ----- I'd like this information on as many people as possible from inside the fleet. In fact, if the higher-ups agree, I'd like this information required from all people in the Fleet, starting with new recruits. (In absence of Fleet DB.) If any of you can, contact our MIA personnel one way or another, and like, get the info or something. Or, if you know the info already, just submit it for them. I'll be able to modify it if need be.
  6. Fleets would run on the invitation-only Official Fleet server, that Derek runs. Unless he's changed the Fleet server plan. (I've been inactive for a few months, but I've been reading up. I might've missed something.) Orion Fleet had our orionfleet.com domain first, and we had our own site set up nicely, until recently. (Domain went expired.) Prime's got a pretty nice place, as well. The propaganda's a waste of space. Find what you want to do. Find some people that you'd like to fight alongside. It'd be better if you found yourself with a good team, rather than being the "ugly stepchild" of a group. I find that I fit in more as an indie or outskirt GalCOM person, than in other groups; so I picked my path. Activity isn't very important until MP comes out. (I've been asked this a couple times.) Just report in as normally as your fleet wants. Be what you want to be. And yeah, Orion's always got open arms. And we've got some nice stuff coming up right around when MP comes out.
  7. Totally agreed. And the best part is, I completely believe it.
  8. [ooc] I hearby say, by all accounts, [/ooc] Orion Starstation. Finally. Nova walked into the Lounge with his Flight Officer and took in a deep breath. "Ah, it's been forever since I've been here," remarked Nova. "There used to always be one hell of a stir going on in here." How long had it been since he was last off the ship? 3 months? Boredom. When was the last time he'd nearly gotten himself killed? A year or so? Blah. He needed a new sense of direction. He let out a sigh. "I need a break. The patrols are killing me. I'm so sick and tired of waiting. I joined the fleet a while back, so I could do something." "Yeah, I hear ya. But man, what you need is a girlfriend," said the Flight Officer. "Like, how about that girl, right there?" He pointed in Akuma's direction. Nova chuckled. "Vic, that's Akuma Minako. She's Commander Foss's girl. And she's close to FC Blades. And she's Rattler's niece. And. Well, yeah. That's a deathwish." He didn't want a girl. He'd already set his heart on someone far away And lost her in an ambush, years ago. Vic replied, "Yeah, you're probably right." They sat at the bar, where a stout robot awaited their order. "I'll have some tequila," Nova said dryly. "Yeah, maybe you do need a vacation. I'll have a beer. Uh, whatever that guy's having," Vic said, pointing at a marine sitting at the other end of the bar. Someone walked up to them and asked, "Mind if I sit next to you guys?" They didn't mind. Nova said, "I need to take a long leave, and just do my own thing for a while. Maybe like, just serve in the reserve ranks or something." He paused to drink his shot of tequila. "Well, at least I'm back here instead of stuck on the ship now." [ 04-03-2003, 10:04 PM: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  9. Ahh... Finally. *takes deep breath* Well, search around for the fleet you want. I made a HUGE file for newbies a LONG time ago (like a year and a half) that should suit your information needs right now. (Not much has changed recently.) See here. Download links may be invalid in there, but hey, that's what you get for not updating a file since November 2001. And yes, FleetDB is off-line. The fleet organisation information shouldn't be too far off from current data. ----- And yes, Orion Fleet is still looking for a few good commanders. If you're looking to join a strong fleet and be a part of GalCOM's heavy strike force, look no further than Orion Fleet, based in the Centris starsystem. Post on the Orion Forum here, or the Official Orion Forum (sometimes down) if interested. Fleet Executive Officer Greg "GMAN" Miller, I think, is keeping tabs on the fleet roster right now. So if you do decide to join up, give him a ring. ----- All you basically have to do, for the time being, is get the green light from the Fleet Leader to join the fleet, let them handle the administrative processes, assign you to academy or a certain wing/battle group, modify your sig to that fleet's standard, and then you're more or less in.
  10. That's pretty damn cool. I've been on the busy end of things with school, and Spring Break, and just whatever IRL stuff I have going on. I lurk these boards, but I haven't posted much in ages to say that I've actually been here the whole time. I'm sick from school today. Excuse me if some of my posts don't make sense today.
  11. www.orionfleet.com is down. The domain expired. That's most likely got to do with it.
  12. Yep. That's the stuff I dream about when I try to have imaging projects rendered. I'd also guess a $400-$500 starting MSRP for the mainstream GeforceFX, though I'm probably not getting it because I haven't gamed in ages, and don't need it, ATM.
  13. BCC Forum has been scuttled, apparantly. ^^'' The entire orionfleet.com domain seems to be expired as of just recently, whihc includes the "forum.orionfleet.com" address for the BCC Forum. More news at 11. Maybe.
  14. Nope. At hte end, it starts going one charcter at a time, which would mean it wasn't server-side scriped with a loop. Lol. The endpage was amusing, too. quote:No more bottles of beer on the wall. No more bottles of beer... Go to the store and buy some more... 99 bottles of beer. Now, out of all the anger you've created out of this... YOUR TURN TO SEND IT TO A FRIEND! 212 have entered. Only 96 have completed it... Want to express your feelings about this website?Whee.
  15. ROFL XD That was the craziest thing. What's crazier than having to waste your time clicking all of those dialogues down, is realizing that someone else took even more time to code it all. I did read the warnings... But yeah, I was bored.
  16. You using the latest beta drivers? I don't have that problem, and I'm using the same chipset. (GF2 MX/MX400) Try those beta drivers. And put your system specs in your sig.
  17. Canned air, with the little tube thing, to the drive, should work. There's also been reports of some trouble with the drive laser voltage, which some people have found ways to fix. If you have some trouble, check some of the FAQs at GameFAQs, which have some pretty sw00t home-made remedies and DIY troubleshooting steps for the PS2. I'd never personally do that to my own system, but I mean, if you guys are desperate, I'd take it apart and fiddle with the voltages, laser, and odds-and-ends and such.
  18. THe one thing I can't stand is *****ing. If there's one thing I'll probably get pissed about and ***** on is *****ing. (Hence increasing the problem. ) So far, I haven't seen any trouble. We're all being patient. I'm chilling out. It's cool. I mean, the last time I remember SC taking a break, he took the laptop with him. He can't stay away long.
  19. I've more or less dropped my couple year old PS2 a ton of times since I've gotten it, and it still works like a charm. My cousin's PS2 however, got a little jostled when my other cousin was running and tripped over the controller cable, and it crashes once in a while during certain games. (Even with a perfectly clean disk. At first I thought our disks were faulty, so I exchanged my new copy of Vice City to test, and it still had crashing problems.)
  20. I just ranted on another board (which ends up consisting of more people my age; 15), against people who're pissed about over-coverage and about how they'll make a fking movie out of this. If I appear edgy, or if I'm incoherent at times, excuse. It's been a stressful week already. I feel for this a lot. It's not quite as much as 9/11, but it's close. I have ALWAYS felt for space. Dreamt of it. Loved it. The space program is such a dream for me. I love it and respect it. So yeah, I'd zone out while watching the coverage once in a while, in deep thought. I don't like counting this as a "loss in space", because it took place in the atmosphere. You can find some video of the mission here. This includes some pre-flight CG videos, and some in-mission video clips of the crew and experiments. Ya know, if you're just as itchy as me to have some more stuff to watch or see. I feel like s*** right now, and I sure as hell can't sleep at the moment. I'll probably head off and mess around with my piano some more. I haven't played since I was like 7 years old, and I'm wanting to get back into music. Or I'll draw or something. Something to clear my head. Long week, long day... I think that's a good plan.
  21. "I forget which third-party developer" turned into Blizzard North, which created Warcraft III, IIRC. Personally, I don't give a crap. I was a HUGE Maxis fan, and was skeptical when EA took over. But, the teams seemed to follow their old direction, and continued as they were. I've been a Westwood fan since Red Alert. I don't think the C&C series is in any trouble. The thing to worry about is EA turning into another Sierra; but so far, I'm guessing and hoping that that's not true.
  22. I was pro Bucs, both because I wanted them to win, and because defense wins games, statistically. Though I couldn't help but feel sorry for the Raiders near the end. I always hope for a close game even though I want one team to win.
  23. Evanescence's first single, Bring Me To Life, is the song that's featured in the teaser trailers or whatever that are being played frequently. The band's been around for a while, but they're just now getting their major label debut, and such. The band sounds a bit like Linkin Park, a bit goth, a bit metal, a bit pure hard rock, a bit Tori Amos. Depends on what song. They've got a pretty good amount of variation in their song styles (which I've never really seen before), and their lyrics are pretty deep, like poetry. Anyway, there goes my fan plug. The movie looks sw00t. I like what I see in the previews, combat wise. ( Spiderman - cheezy powers ) + ( The Matrix - cheezy effects ) That's what it looks like it's adding up to. I'm looking to see more, so I'll probably end up seeing it when it's out.
  24. The Sims, Sim Copter, Streets of Sim City, SC3k, SC2k, Sim Earth. All of which have taken tons of precious hours of my life. (Which oddly enough, I once got credit for finding a "feature" for SC2k online, and have been getting Sim City "help me I'm a n00b" email since.) And I'm anxiously awaiting SC4. It looks so sweet, although I'm probably going to need some upgrades to my comp to get a decent framerate. Blah. I'm rambling. I'm so getting this game in the next month or so.
  25. Some ships dont' allow certain upgrades, wether they be Artifact or not. There might've been a list of this, but I don't think so. Personally, I've been just looking up the "shipdata" file somewhere in teh BCM folders, and looking at "upgrade" lines, and matching the item numbers with the "trade item" number in the Appendix. Confused? It's not so bad when you know what you're looking for.
