  1. I too have been around since before the Take 2 debacle. Every year or so I tire of the SC's rough manners, but eventually return because of the quality of the game.
  2. Tyrn, I have been wondering about the power stuff Gustavo asked about too. I just don't see a performance difference between 50% and 100% engine power. Where should I look? Related question: how does reactor and engine upgrades actually affect your ship performance? Haven't noticed any.
  3. Wow, those trees would be the finishing touch to the planets! Amazing stuff.

  5. I have now sent an official request to enlist on the Gammulan side to Lord David pr. email. To start off the roleplaying, I would like to propose someone Gammulan with graphical flair designed pictures of a Gammulan bridge crew along with gammulan voice responses. Personally I think that would go a long way for the gammulan immersion factor NB. The gammulans seem a bit klingon inspired. Do you guys agree?
  6. quote:Originally posted by vogelap: But the weird thing is this... Even if I do NOT use EndItAll, my computer still hangs when I try to shutdown after playing BCM. Here's what I just did, and experienced a crash: Fresh reboot. Close PowerBar, Logitech Wingman Control Panel, SocketWatch, POW! (popup window killer), and my virus programs. Run MaxMem to free up any memory. Run BCM. SNG, CC career. Play for a while, do some planet scanning in Tacops (that's so cool). Exit the game to desktop. Try to shutdown. Screen goes black and it sits forever. Strange. And it does it every single time. My machine does the same thing.
  7. That wuold be a great improvement. The stations do seem a bit inactive - it's rare, in fact I've seen it, to see them launch all their fighters, and having them reach out and protect the non-hostiles would provide even deeper immersion, IMO. [ 12-10-2001: Message edited by: Count_Sessine ]
  8. Thanks guys, it works just fine. True enough, in the manual it says that you can retrieve your own ships that way. I just didn't make the connection. Very cool.
  9. And then dock at a station ? I'll try it out. Thanks.
  10. Does anyone know how to retrieve an FC whose pilot (no copilot) has been killed, but is otherwise almost intact (green with minor damages)? Sending SC's with Tow/Deliver orders only makes the SC's leave them 0,2 kms from the CC, but short of actually giving them to the CC, and the same goes for stations. I just can't figure out a way to make them return to base ?
  11. I have to chime in here, as a longtime fan and longtime game reviewer. BCM is an incredible immersive game, and an outstanding example of how to maintain the singular vision of the merge between business and entertainment, for all involved, that has been gone from this business for many years. Kudos to Mr.Smart for this. We hope he'll be around a long time. Regards [ 12-09-2001: Message edited by: Count_Sessine ]
  12. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: uhm, read what I wrote again. You said were going to 21.83. If 22.80 works for you, why would you go to 21.83? Ah, right Sorry about that, commander, right, supreme commander. I really have to quit drinking That's Supreme Cmdr to you TTFN [ 12-07-2001: Message edited by: Gallion ] [ 12-08-2001: Message edited by: Count_Sessine ]
  13. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: You must be drinking. Why would you go from 2280 to 2183? When in fact, 2311 are the latest drivers we're all using? *sigh* Because 22.80 works for me, and 23.11 don't. Go figure.
  14. quote:Originally posted by Count_Sessine: Gents, 1/ I'm experiencing a lot of texture searing, with that I mean big jagged edges along the inner edges of objects (buildings, planes...). Ok, I found a solution to the problem: it's a driver problem. I tried installing Det 22.80 and they work, no jagged edges, but with a variable framerate hit. Next I'll (re) try the 21.83 drivers.
  15. quote:Originally posted by LordDavid: {Raises his hand} Yes! I know of one! If you want to be in it, you can be. I am in the process of relocating my Gammulan Website. Will post link here when ready. Ok, great. I look forward to the website.
  16. quote:Originally posted by Blerm: Personally, I think the water effect you're talking about is cool. It actually looks deeper than the land, rather than being just a different colour than the land, which I think might have been the intent. Good perspective, hehe. In any case it's a very minor issue.
  17. Gents, I wonder if you can help me with a fix for this: 1/ I'm experiencing a lot of texture searing, with that I mean big jagged edges along the inner edges of objects (buildings, planes...). 2/ Water on planets is really strange: it doesn't move! Flying over coast lines is weird, the coast moves, but the water looks like it's anchored 'under' the land. 3/ Bonus question: is there a way to increase the view distance when on planets? Info: Tried running at 1152*864 and 1024*768 Tried running at 16bit and 32bit Tried switching off 4xAGP Tried switching off mipmapping Tried with and without antialiasing Specs: Athlon Tbird 1 Ghz 384 MB Ram GForce 2 GTS 32Mb Detonator drivers 23.11 Regards [ 12-05-2001: Message edited by: Count_Sessine ]
  18. quote:Originally posted by Melanie650: Luckly i had a shuttle flying around and I ordered it to tow me around so I could find the nearest star station. [ 11-24-2001: Message edited by: Melanie650 ] I think that somehow detracts from the game. It's reasonable that all ships can be towed to port if damaged, but it seems stupid a shuttle can tow a carrier faster than it can move under it's own power. It's true what someone said: we risk seeing Gammulans deploying fleets towed by shuttles. Am I the only one who think that's strange?
  19. quote:Originally posted by Barron Morris: BE VALKERIE!!! ...if you want. Just a thought.... I checked out your mission statement. Sounds cool, but if Lord David manages to get a Gammulan fleet up and running we'd get access to station assets, no?
  20. Hey, thanks for the tip! Perhaps I should make my own stand-in voices until someone with a more professional attitude comes along.
  21. Has anyone heard of a sound mod for the game ? The squaky female voice that says 'PTA system active' is driving me crazy, and most of the others could do with an update (it seems like the same voices that we found in BC3K..). Also, engine sounds are quite weak, and the main gun sounds like a handgun. I'd fancy a deep rumble that put my subwoofer to work
  22. Ahh, after some poking around I see there's a Gammulan fleet in the works under the aegis of Lord David I guess I'll have to file an application with him when the time comes. Doesn't look like a very popular choice though, judging from the number of members (3?).
  23. Gents, Do anyone know of a Gammulan fleet out there? I looked over the Fleets, and all I can see is Galcom fleets, one Insurgent fleet and a conglomerate of independents. After careful deliberations, I have decided that I feel more inclined to the Gammulan cause, than to any of the established organisations.
  24. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Can you see their TTD on the map? If not, did you try to zoom to one of them using the Tacops/Zoom To option? Do you even remember where you left them? Yes sir, I do remember where I left them (mission zone1 on Trion during the CO training scenario), and no there was no TTD on the zoomed-in Tacops map.
  25. Gents, A quick, newbie kind of question. I'm not sure it's a bug - but I don't think so. My game is completely bugfree. Brillant. Here it is: I deployed 9 marines on the surface After some shooting around, there was only 4 left. I promptly Evac'ed them to the BC. On the BC I looked at Perscan, and there it said that my 4 remaining marines were now on the ship, and that I had an additional 4 left behind on the planet who were radiated, injured and poisened with an alien disease. When I checked, and then rechecked, the planet mission area, there was no sign of them anywhere. I sent a shuttle on a extract team mission, but it returned empty. Is this a feature or something else?
