  1. BCM isn't an MMORPG, so joining games in progress won't be a good idea either But the BC Series can be played for hours and hours, so there is yet another question: Will it be possible for players to rejoin a session they have previously participated in ? Or if that is not possible, will the AI take control of their ship ? Because it wouldnt be so good if 3 Stormcarriers fight a Warmonger and one or two of em just explode due to a system overheat or ISP-Failure Anyway, if EB doesnt ship my BCM Copy soon I might go Postal )) My fingers are itching, I want to get me dirty hands on it *G* Thx for all the great work again, SC ! btw, the EB Online-Store says: usually ships within 24 hours. Does that mean they still have copies left ? Because, if they lost my order (that ALWAYS happens to me *G*) I could buy another copy ... Cheers Sid
  2. Hi everyone, some may remember me (and Jaguar actually still is in my ICQ list ... thx for the help with the TRANS in 2.09 again ) and some wont. I joined in Sep 2001, and then "suddenly" wasn't seen here anymore. I registered for a fleet, but then failed to confirm my data and supply the info missing, so some may not like me anymore. It's quite simple: I got my motorcycle license in late september, and bought a bike just a week later. Then something happened, including me, my new bike, and a bus. I spent 3 month in hospital, since i had 8 bones broken, including both femurs (or femors ... upper leg bones) - again .... At least, there was no amnesia, so i did remember to pre-order BCM . I'm recovering quickly, and Im glad that I am back in the greatest game related communities of all Im not up to date regarding the status of BCM, but ill read the News in a few minutes, and then go play some BC 3000 AD 2.09 I need that now. For those who know me: I've quit university and im working as a technician for a PSION-Handheld Reseller right now... I hope to see all of you, once MP is added to BCM Fleet Related: I will re-register for the fleet as soon as i get some spare time. CU soon Sid

  9. Hehe ... I have 2 Samba-Fileservers and a DSL-Router/Firewall/Proxy running on RedHat 7.0, just because its SECURE and you can recycle your old machines (Fileservers are Pentium-90 and Pentium-133 with 128 MB RAM each and a total capacity of 90 GBs built from 10 old SCSI HDs ... The Router/FW/Proxy is a 486 DX 2/66 with 32 MB RAM and a 500 MB HD. Network is 10/100 MBit with 5 PCs -> Switch -> Router -> DSL-Modem 2 of the Machines at the Switch are Win98 / Win NT, 2 are the mentioned Samba-Filerservers and one is a Ultra Sparc ! I bought the switch, the old PCs and the Ultra Sparc from a company which went down the sink in early 99, I paid 500 Marks altogehter (which is about 230 $ US) That was the BEST thing in my life buying the old machines They do a hell of a job running under Linux Cheers
  10. Hey guys, we all know that life comes to an end sometime, somewhere. So I will make it quick and clean: Im very sad to announce that Officer Paul Resnig was killed in a transporter accident at 17:05 Local Time on Lennen, when the transporter beamed him to a Raider Base instead of the secured GALCOM-Outpost. We all will miss his presence on bridge. The Funeral will be held aboard GCV Narf tomorrow at 17:00 GALCOM-Time. Signing Off and Farewell, Paul
  11. Just an idea ... I think the design idea of a battlecruiser is just as mentioned above - a central axis (corridor) with the rooms alongside that central passage .... BUT since boarding parties are very common (you can board any vessel anytime as long as youre not shot down on approach - no need to lower shields to beam or dock) there SHOULD be some kind of Sentry Installations on every Battleship, like a gatling-station tracking specific signatures (such as a chip implanted in every GalCom employee) which allows to attack only hostile forces ... and you should be able (at least if youre an engineer ) to reprogramm your chip to defeat others ships sentries ... i dunno, kill an insurgent and copy/paste his chip or stuff ))) just an idea ... i dont know if its practicable .... Anyway, I LOVE the idea to run around BC-Vessels Cheers
  12. I bought a Rage 128 32 MB as a replacement for my Riva128, since I wanted to watch DVDs on my K6-2/500 ... I had tried using WinDVD with the Riva, but it was more of a slide show than entertainment. Then I updated to a Rage128 since that Package included the ATI-DVD-Player - et voila, no problems ever since.... I agree that ATI sucks in Drivers, but with a small computer which wouldnt run modern games anyway, its the best way to get to view DVDs 'cause the ATI Rage series supports MoComp since the RageII Chip ... IF Ati ever releases fully functional drivers along with their cards, they will kick asses around the globe, including NVidia's, just like AMD kicked ass when the releases their first REAL CPU - the all famous ATHLON .... the first AMD CPU which beat an identically clocked Intel Processor ... Cheers
  13. Doesnt this sound like testing an internal level of a command craft Guys, I envy you Cheers

  15. Have some of you been to the counter-strike.de forum ? LOL ! We have EXACTLY the same discussion there, someone posted about AVP2 and another guy said in the 4th or 5th reply that the RedFaction-MP-Demo ROX and he likes the Railgun best ... LOOOOOL
  16. hmm... 5 reminds me of BC2000AD ... WE NEED MORE POWER *G* Although, this time YOU have to provide that additional power, and no matter how hard you try, they always beg for more LOL Cheers
  17. Yes, many Power Supplies nowadays HAVE a thermal protection. But especially cheap south-asian-manufactured computers and other equipment lack this vital component. Talking about important components in modern PCs, the first thing I usually do is check which kind of RAM is installed on the new-bought pc ... may sound stupid, but I ONLY buy infineon-ram, which is pretty cheap nowadays (I pay about 20 $ US for a 128MB-dimm and 35$ US for a 256MB-Dimm (i work for a laaaarge software-company for a living and to pay for my studies, so I get "special" discounts" ) ) (umm ... how many brackets ... thats why my java-code never works .. lol) ... umm ... and another part ... check if theres (right word ? ->) heat-transfer-paste between the cooler and the CPU, since any other means of thermal managment attempts will almost certainly result in desaster .... and last but not least: most underestimated but REALLY important: Coffee, Coke and Pepsi without which PCs might run, but wont work Cheers
  18. Oh yeah, AvP .. I beat the game Directors Cut in both Alien and Predator, but I never finished Level 1 as a Marine, cause I can't handle the fear ... it scares the hell out of me, and I wet my pants, literally ! I think I wont survive the AvP 2 Demo without a major heart-attack, so im not going to d/l it unless anybody tells me theres Alien or Predator Gameplay as well Cheers
  19. try via tactical or so, drone X on shuttle. its like when i lost my interceptor, i went to in 1 on logistix and couldnt replace it though i had bought a new one, but i got the option "replace interceptor" on "loadout" in "tactical" ... maybe thats with the drone in the shuttle loadout, too ?! Cheers
  20. I have tried all non-computer-based variants (e.g. tabletop, RPG and a small dice game ) Cheers
  21. I always preferred BattleTech. Starting from the MultiPlayer BattleTech on AOL and Gamestorm, I have lived and died in that universe, have read like every single book ever written about it and killed about 15000 opponents on the MPBT-Server via AOL. And since I dont know Gundamn, BT is the Mech-Game of my choice, with 4 Excellent FPS Games and 2 RTS Variants its also the most-released Mech-Game ever Cheers Maj. 22. well, there should be some neat feature in BCM, which detects the first 4 keys that someone presses, and if they are WASD, they are restricted to playing FP-Mode. Cheers
  23. havent had that problem yet. maybe because I dont think a BC is a suitable ship to be flying in an atmosphere. think about it, a some 100K ship cruising about your city and eventually landing on a residential area. loool... I thought the planet inhabitants might not like that either, so i try to avoid BC planetfalls when possible. Cheers
  24. Hi all, Im quite a newbie to BC3000AD (2.09 freeware downloaded on thursday). I had one of my interceptors downed during an attack on an insurgent base. It was severly damaged and shot down short time ago. I then laid waste on the base and then went to locate my pilots. In the manual it says, downed pilots are auto-marked for evacuation. I switched to planet tacops and opened the menu. Evac was not lit up. The manual says, to mark a team or person for evac, ctrl+leftclick it, and I did that, still evac didnt light up. on that part, some information about how the tacops looks like for me when i try this: planet surface with 2 pilot models on it, each encased by a grey box with a little white cross in it. if i ctrl+leftclick one of the boxes, the cross appears/disappears. The boxes emit a blue circle in regular intervals (emergeny beacon i figure). Since I thought not being able to evacuate the pilots using the transport could be a result of there severe injuries (who knows in this game, you always get surprised how realistic it is), I thought I might only be able to evacuate them using a shuttle. So i packed 2 pilots in a shuttle and followed the instructions in the manual. I encountered the waypoint below surface problem, so I made sure the waypoints were set above the surface. I had set 2 wps, one being "proceed to next" which should ensure that the shuttle approaches wp2 in an acceptable angle, the second WP being extract team. I tried this twice, once with the white crosses inside the grey boxes, one time without. the shuttle passes by, returns and the pilots are still on their location. So my 2 questions are: how do i evac my pilots using either shuttle or transporter, and what is the purpose of the white crosses ? I just cant figure that out myself, and I know that there are many experienced players here. I could simply drop an OTS and clone them, but they are at 50% AI - and i dont want to loose that Oh yeah... am I the only one who talks to his crew ? My g/f said I look like a mental patient playing that game, looking at persscan and crying KILL HIM when a Marine finds a Intruder Or I keep shouting at Paul : SHUT UP ! SHUT THE **** UP !!! )) 6 days and im already addicted. Longest Lifetime yet: 26 hours (~ 10 Stormcarriers took me down before I could evacuate ...) Thx in advance for helping me and thx to the SC for this immersing game universe !
