  1. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Only drivers officially released by the manufacturers, are supported. In which case, that would be the 12.41 WHQL drivers. Um, I have those drivers installed and I cant get Demo Ep 1 to work at all. It just flashes down to 640x480 then flashes back to 1600x1200 (desktop res). Yes, "adjust z buffer depth to rendering depth if unequal" is ticked in my display settings. So, what gives?
  2. quote: How in the hell can they have two different types of RAM on this video board? I think you'll find that SDRAM doesnt stop the RAM from being DDR, or vice versa. I have a GeForce DDR which has S*G*RAM (or at least thats whats stamped on the chips). SDRAM is Syncronous Dynamic RAM whereas SGRAM is Syncronous Graphic RAM. The main difference between SGRAM and SDRAM is that SGRAM supports techniques such as masked/blocked writes to increase performance. Either can be DDR because DDR is, as you quite rightly state, a technique for transferring data on both edges of the memory clock. Stating that the card has "SDRAM DDR" is just clarifying the fact that its not "SGRAM DDR". Just so you know
  3. Cheers, I knew that ignition key was around here somewhere BTW, I got around to reading the version control file and I notice the the table for figuring out how much radine a hyperspace jump takes. Slightly confusing as in the manual it still says that each jump takes 10 radine. Still, got that sorted through a bit of trading and cargosweeping, I upgraded my reactor/engine combo so that now each jump does indeed take 10 radine
  4. You dont mention what make/model your motherboard is, maybe your m/b manufacturer has released an updated BIOS with NMI support? Its worth checking, quite a few DOS games wont give you sound with an SB Live unless you have NMI support....
  5. Yea, but you have to remember that if they cant get out they start rattling around like flies in a jar. The other day I had a whole bunch of intruders so I shut down power to launch control & the transporter, there were about 3 intruders in the transporter room at the time, and instead of beaming out I got a nice status update from my chief engineer. "Transporter room has been damaged". Perhaps they were kicking the controls trying to figure out why it wasnt working anymore?
  6. Heya, A few things that I wonder if someone could shed some light on.... First of all, with regard to the amount of radine used by hyperspace jumps. The manual says 10, but every jump seems to use 40 for me. Is it because I upgraded my engines (with some tasty upgrades I found floating around in a debris field)?. Do the upgraded engines use more fuel? Whats the benefit of having those better engines anyway? Ditto upgraded reactor, does it use less radine? Second, I left my battlecruiser doing a patrol whilst I went off in a shuttle to polaris to offload some illegal goods I had found in said debris field only to come back and find my ship had run out of radine (my own fault for leaving it with only 200units of the stuff on patrol I spose). I went and bought some more in the shuttle but the ships reactor didnt start up again, I just restored from the savegame I made from before I went in the shuttle and made a point of buying more radine before leaving my BC, but what gives? Did I just not wait long enough? How long does it take to kickstart a nuclear reactor anyway? Fineally, is there any way to change the refresh rate that BC3K runs at? I read in another topic that you cant change the resolution, which im OK with, just having a refresh rate of 60Hz really gets to me after a while. I useually play most games at 640x480@100Hz and can go ages without any probs, but im sat here with the worlds worst migraine after 4hrs of BC3K . Any help in this regard (like any 3rd party utilities to set refresh rates in DOS etc) would be nice. And fineally, as this is my first post (I only d/l the game a couple of days ago) I'd like to thank the SC for making such a great game freely available. Next on my list of d/l's is the BCM demo, just to tide the time until its released, because if its as good as BC3K (and the buzz around here indicates its better) im gonna be ordering it as soon as its out
