  1. I found the game to be quite a lot of fun. The skinning process and hero creation is really neat, and playing your favorite comic book character is actually quite possible. Unfortunately, I'm not much of a fan of the multiplayer... there's not a whole lot of options other than "beat each other up". The single player game is excellent, and the voice acting is appropriately cheesy for the setting (Silver age comics had this kind of over the top dialogue). The only real complaint I had was that the Single player game was TOO SHORT! At least it seemed so, once I finished the single player I wanted more, more, more! Hopefully once the level editor comes out that will allow some fan-crafted episodes to appear. All in all, a great game, one everyone should buy, if only to ensure Irrational makes the two sequels they have planned. [ 04-11-2002, 10:16: Message edited by: Guttersnipe ]
  2. quote: Guess what everyone SHOULD have to register their OS. What is wrong with you guys? Would you steal BCM? or get it and then say Registering it is WRONG??? The ONLY reason you guys dont want to register Win XP is beause you want to be able to buy one copy and give it to all your friends, Family, people on the street? or get it off the internet for free. Apparently you think that conduct (Stealing) is ok, but registering the product is tantamount to Satanism. Careful, that's fairly close to slander. No one has talked about stealing Windows or BCM, and that insinuation is flame material. Registration reluctance has a lot to do with the dwindling privacy people have on the net. 3. I'm personally locked in a tense stance of Anticipation. The words are being mouthed but not yet said, for a time when the fleets get to practice what they preach... multiplayer. Mmmmm sweet multiplayer. That's when the message boards will heat up, just you wait.
  4. quote: Canadians should burn. Or the country should be taken over by America and they are made into Americans. Or they should be nuked. Especially French Canadians. Hate them. Quebec has French all over, all smoking, everywhere, speaking French, with accents. BURN!!! I'm all for humor but... this is offensive, racist and below the standards of this board. Its also not very funny.
  5. I would imagine the gameplay reason is that Newton is fun in a classroom, but not when you're playing a computer game. It simplifies things down, I mean, if I had to calculate at what point I'd have to decelerate so that I end up nearby a station rather than flattened against the station my brain would explode.
  6. Wow, my hands are still shaking from that particular experience. I Jumped into Mars space from Saturn, looking to investigate the Red Planet for myself. No sooner did I get in did a Gam Raider BC Mark II hyper in, and disappear. Static is playing on my screen, my officers are muttering "There's something out there". I'm tense. Suddenly an Intruder Alert. Wary from losing craft in the past, I kill Power to Launch. The Marines begin searching. Then All Hell breaks loose. Two more Gam ships warp in, both cruisers. The Gam BC makes itself known, not 20 km from my position. They launch fighters. I launch... nothing. And then I realize: I cut power to Launch! I check one of my shuttle craft that suddenly went offline, sure enough, there was an intruder in there. One that was busy, he had about 40 units of my SHIELD Fuel loaded in the craft. My shield starts taking massive hits, my screen is crackling from blasts. Desparately, I route marines to the shuttlecraft and fire upon the Gam BC. Boom! A Colorful explosion results. One down. I fire off half a dozen missiles at the other two cruisers as the fighters buzz around me like angry hornets. I watch my shield go from 80% to 60%, 40%, my hull takes some burns. Thank God I upgraded shields and hull armor. Finally one cruiser is crippled, the other hypers out with two of the destroyed BC's fighters. Meanwhile, in the ship, the two marines managed to wrest the shuttle away from the intruder, killing the last of the internal menace. Those men deserve a medal. Amazingly, they saved the Flight Engineer that was trapped in the shuttle with the intruder, though he had to be taken to the medibay for treatment. Following that sortee I docked at the local station and finally exhaled. In-fricking-tense.
  7. Unfortunately, I didn't recieve the poster-sized starmap either. I had ordered well before the cut off date for the starmap offer, but the EB where I got it didn't recieve it from their warehouse. At least that's what the cashier monkey told me. I figured I'll check back in a little bit to see if maybe they came in the next shipment.
  8. The training camps are a good idea, cause HOO BOY... do I ever just SUCK. I can't even count the amount of times I've flown into Saturn and died horribly. And Saturn is REALLY big. Its not like its hard to avoid. But again and again, BAM, I hit Saturn like a rock into mud. Must keep learning.
  9. In all honesty, I'm not too broken up if it invalidates saves. The patch notes in the VCF is enough to get my mouth watering. But the SC can turn water to wine, so we'll have to see what happens.

    THE GAME!

I got it.... and wow. Wow wow wow. My monthly report was based on actual events in the game. I did defend the Jupiter resupply station from attack. I did destroy an insurgent ship, and watch the other ships hightail it out of there. I was boarded, and marvelled as my Marines reported the intruder's demise. Jupiter looked freaking fantastic from the position I was in. I'll check out Saturn today. [ 11-25-2001: Message edited by: Guttersnipe ]
  11. Commander Name: Jacen Shardik Asset: GCV-Imara ISS FLEET, Destrier Wing TIME: 23/11/3014 Ship Status: Shields: 67% Hull: 100% Condition: Yellow The maiden voyage of the Imara was a success. The time spend in the training simulators paid off for myself and my crew, weapons tests and support craft maneuvers were completed without incident. PERSONAL NOTE:I'm happy to see that the Debris field near Earth has finally been cleaned up. I like an unobstructed view of the stars. Jumped to Jupiter's Resupply station in response to a distress call. Jumped in to find an Insurgent Megaron Heavy Carrier was launching fighters and missiles at the station. I am pleased to note that the crew performed admirably against this very real threat. The Megaron was quickly destroyed, and the two surviving interceptors were driven back through a flux. A shuttle of Insurgent soldiers gained entry to the Imara, but the marine teams quickly dispatched them. Unfortunatly no prisoners were to be had, but they were eliminated before causing damage to crew or ship. Heading now to Alpha Centauri to perform further tests and begin patrolling, as per my orders.
  12. That looks really good, way to go Cmdr Nova!
  13. Hate to butt in here, but didn't the SC mention that those sig pics, the one's that ID your Wing or branch in the fleet, aren't they going to be put on the 3000ad fleet area, under Race/Caste logos? Don't we just have to email the pic over to Tacops for approval and placement into that area? Check the URL: http://www.3000ad.com/fleets/logos.html
  14. COMMANDERS LOG: Jacen Shardik GCV IMARA, Destrier Wing, ISS FLEET TIME: 12:55 28/11/10 Ship Status: Awaiting Preflight Inspection I put myself and the command crew through a few simulations while the Imara's getting a few new optimizations put in. Lets hope she'll be ship shape by next week. The simulation scoring was adequate, but the execution was sloppy. A few more days worth should prepare all of us, I have no wish to embarass myself to Destrier Wing Commander Epsilon 5. Personal Note: Making a good impression on the other fleets is extremely important right now. As it stands Orion and Prime don't have a whole lot of respect for ISS. It reminds me of playing football as a child. The offense never respected the goalkeeper and his defense. At least, not until the ball got past them. A lot of games get decided based on the skill of the Goalkeeper. A weak defense loses the game. Commander Shardik out.
  15. Hey all, I'd like to make a request for MORE STORIES! Some of the one's I've heard on this topic thus far are fantastic, they make the imagination go absolutely wild. So this is a clarion call to the beta testers out there who are now free to speak. Tell us more War Stories!
  16. [rp] Standing at attention, eyes forward. "Sir, my assignment to Destrier Wing is acceptable. I would like to know who it is I report to, as Destrier is supposedly under the Orion Fleet command. Sir, I expect good leadership from the ISS. I expect to be treated with respect, and be given the chance to make both history and mistakes. I offer the ISS my respect, my loyalty, and my tactical experience. I don't offer perfection, I offer a man who will fight tooth and nail to protect GALCOM, its assets, and the worlds it protects from harm." [/rp]
  17. I'd also vote for Commander Keenan. The Head of Intelligence Command would make a good pairing with Wraith's covert style of ops.
  18. "Commander Shardik reporting in as ordered, Sir!"
  19. This may be a little premature as everything's still getting restructured, but what's the word on the Defense Wing Symbol? We got one for the Races and Galcom, but do the individual Wings in ISS have a specific symbol? I've noticed that some of the other Fleets have done this (Gamma wing in Prime Fleet, for example) and thought it might be something to think about, once everything gets sorted out.
  20. Destrier Wing... Alpha Centauri and Tau Ceti, eh? Sounds like an ideal posting to me!
  21. Definately the slogan, it got me hooked, filleted, and served for dinner!
  22. Well, I'm officially on the Fleet Database, so it looks like I've arrived. First of all thanks for letting me be a part of the ISS fleet, I think this will be certainly an interesting experience. Secondly, I am not currently assigned to a wing, and decided that maybe Commander Urza might want some support in Pegasus Wing. That is, unless bodies are needed elsewhere. Again, thanks for the chance, I'm looking forward to squashing those sneaky Bunnies and keeping Galcom space secure from threats.
  23. I've been lurking on these boards for a while now. I'm I'm a little on the shy side and fairly new to the BCM world. I'd like to be a part of something greater. I've spent months trying to decide what fleet would mesh with my style of command. I believe it to be the ISS, and if given a chance, I would prove my worth. I await your decision.
