  1. OK, in keeping with the vein of this thread and also please excuse my ignorance, but what does ROFLMAO stand for?
  2. quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Jeffery Eu: Please read up on the discussion first before you put out a unilateral statement like that. Thank you. This is a good point. The purpose of Intercorp is NOT to form a fleet, but to provide a support facility for Indies wrt to access for pooled resources, contacts, work opportunities etc. Don't be put off thinking this is some form of conformity organization and you can't swan around doing your own thing, 'cos that's bollocks! The whole concept behind Intercorp is to allow Indies to remain as Indies. It's gonna be a big bad galaxy out there, go it alone by all means. But if you need some help to make a go of it we're more than happy to see what we can do. Provided, of course, any activities remain within bounds as laid out in Intercorps charter. (As an independent/impartial organization we need these rules as we don't want to get blown away by an irate fleet!) If your activities fall out of these bounds, well you'll be doing exactly what you want to do then won't you?.... being independent.
  3. I've tried to feed my 4 month old daughter and strafe an Insurgent base. I ended up with formula all over the keyboard and a very bent aircraft!
  4. Of course if you don't like having to keep your hair cut short, getting up at 5am, having some drill instructor yelling at you for not ironing your underwear and spending 6 hours a day peeling potatoes... You can always remain an Independent. This could be exactly what you're looking for.
  5. If you allow indies (or "civilians") into your military base I would have thought it would be prudent to carry out a security clearance proceedure on said individuals. If they have a dodgy background then it is your right to refuse access. This could be reviewed on a regular basis. Let's face it, indies are out there to make money, contacts, form networks and get on in (GCO) life. Therefore there won't be many short sighted Indies who will want to throw away decent business opprtunities and screw up the potential for any in the future. Unless of course, they have a personal beef with any particular military organizations. [ 11-03-2001: Message edited by: Guybert ]
  6. Money = Lots of opportunities to do cool stuff (in GCO)
  7. If fleets buy their "basics" (fuel, ammo spares etc) in bulk via their procurement/logistics officer, then it seems to me this could be an ideal situation for the fleets and Intercorp. Obviously the fleets would want to buy at favourable prices. But with being busy patrolling the Galaxy, waging war, conquering opposing races and wot not, they may not have the time or resources to continually scour the Universe for the cheapest sources. Intercorp can do this. For example, based on a fleet's stated material needs/quantities Intercorp can be contracted to obtain and maintain a stock of these and supply to the fleets at set prices (subject to regular reviews of course!). Hell, we could even include delivery to your front door in the contracted price. The ways you fleeters can utilize Intercorp for your benefit (and our bottom line) are many. We are willing to look at ANY proposal for our services. I appreciate details with respect how the GCO Universe will work have yet to be laid out to us, but we can get some concepts out on the table in the meantime. Look forwrd to hearing from you.
  8. Happy Birthday Spuzzum. Wish I could remember MY 17th....
  9. Riga, Thanks for your comments. Jeffery has sent me the IU profile document and I'm currently working on the charter and ranking system, hopefully have a draft ready in a day or two. I will change my sig as recommended, I've left Commercial Div in it till a name is approved. Off the top of my head, what about - Money Inc? Got a catchy ring to it, no? Let me know. Cheers.
  10. "Ahem.." Hey, what about the Commercial Division?
  11. quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Jeffery Eu: 1) In the case of passive castes like explorers, diplomats, scientists and so forth how would you expect the pricing to be like? It seems to me it will become a natural supply and demand thing. The Diplomatic mission 'Creator' will set out what is required and how much they will pay for successful completion. Diplomats wanting to undertake the mission will then submit their interest in executing said mission along with their Diplomatic resume. The Creator will then choose who he (or she) is best suited to execute the mission. The creator would get what he (or she)pay's for. For example, if the posted mission is relatively easy the fee would reflect this (i.e. is low). Then, I would imagine, the more experienced (and no doubt more wealthy) Diplomats will not be so interested. Conversely a more difficult mission would necessitate a higher fee to gain interest of the more experienced Diplomats. Of course this will only work if the correct economies of scale are in place and there are plenty of diplomatic missions to go around. All diplomats are going to want to pay the rent. So there may need to be some structure for assigning mssions - a roster perhaps? quote:2) Should long term customers be eligible for discounts? What's the maximum allowable discount to stop price undercutting? The next question would be do we even care? Customers could try and negotiate discounts based on their buying history. However the onus should be on them to instigate this. I think Intercorp should always be ready/flexible to do a deal provided everything is in keeping with stated rules and regs and there is a profit to be made, but lets not give money away! quote:3) This question has nothing to do with economics, if a peaceful trader suddenly gets caught in a battle, who can he or she get compensation from, if he or she suffers damages. Will there be even a system in place for pursuit of compensation, or we don't care? In theory I don't see why Intercorp's resources can't be used to offer insurance cover through the Commercial Division for traders vessels and cargo. I need to give the details on this more thought with respect to premium calculations, affordability etc, but this could be one of the many services offered by the Commercial Division. (I've got some more ideas on different services the division can offer - more on this later...) quote:4) If a Galcom member breaks the rules (if there are rules, and if we know what the rules are) who should we complain to? Can we even complain or should us indies just suck up our gut and go on? err .. a question for the newly formed Police division maybe? Well, those are my thoughts off the top of my head, any comments? [ 10-26-2001: Message edited by: Guybert ] [ 10-26-2001: Message edited by: Guybert ]
  12. Hi, I'm a newbie to the "Battlecruiser" world and just want to introduce myself to y'all. I've been reading up on as much as possible, been playing the demos and am now eagerly awaiting the arrival of my pre ordered copy of BCM. More specifically, with the upcoming release of GCO, the Commercial caste intrigues me. With the reported extensive scope of GCO, the variety of potential opportunities to make loads of dosh and become a galactic Donald Trump or Warren Buffet are too good to pass up. However, in my quest for power and prestige I will no doubt find the resources from a supporting organization useful. Real life restrictions on the time I will have for gaming will limit any obligations I can undertake from a formal fleet. Therefore I'll be an Independent and Intercorp seems a perfect set up to belong to. I hope you will accept my humble application to your organization and look forward to working with y'all.
  13. Hi Charles, I recently had my Indie Fleet application approved. However, I'm not listed in the database and cannot log into it. Should I be mentioning this to you or contacting someone else? Cheers, Guybert
