  1. I must concur with Urza here. IMHO cheating should be impossible in MP but in single player it should be up to the individual.

If a player wants to waste the excellent opportunity to train for MP in single player, all power to them. In point of fact, why not make more facets of the single player game user customizable? (Just a rhetorical question- not a wishlist entry. )

Heh, this just means more cannon fodder for the rest of us when MP makes its debut.

  2. Keep 'em coming guys.

BTW Simparadox, why were you attacking a scientist starstation?!? What did my colleagues ever do to hurt you, hmm??

I guess my next question would be: What caste were you playing in those pictures?

    Just curious...Please don't kill me!!

  3. Thank You SC!

Maybe now those of us who just want to explore the universe will have a better chance to do so.

Also thank you for the advice on safe regions to fly around in. That will be helpful to the newbies who are just trying to get a handle on how to fly their CC and still want to be able to save their game. LOL, you could even nickname those regions "the Newbies creche".

    I am very happy now...

  4. I don't understand why all the game reviewers think that this game does not have good graphics. IMHO they need to play for a longer period of time and explore more of the universe.

Sure, there are other games that look prettier but their game universe is so limited/restricted that it becomes tiresome over time (IWAR2 is a good example).

Gameplay is indeed the word for it as BCM allows me to do things I could only dream about in other games.

The game universe for BCM is so expansive that I am thoroughly enjoying just exploring it in order to see what I can see.

Now if I could just stop getting blown up all the time, maybe I could see more of it.

  5. Those are pretty pictures, Barron.

Well...except for the last one, LOL. I think I will keep a safe distance from Valkerie space from now on.

And to think that the game reviewers say that this game doesn't have good graphics. I guess they need to play the game longer and see more of the universe.

  6. Ok Jeff, try this.

Start a new game as a Police/Commander. For the purposes of this exercise your choice of race and asset are irrelevant.

Now have a look under Roster/Personal and you will see the following:

    Rank: Commander

    Salary: 75000

    Cash: 75000

As you can see the Police are in fact paid for their work.

I guess the appendices and manual can only get you so far.

You do have a valid point when it comes to multiplayer however. I suspect that this is something that will have to be discussed in its own thread though.

Now returning to the topic of this thread:

If you come under attack by a hostile and you are in a region that contains a friendly/neutral ODS that is hostile to your attacker, immediately hyperjump to the ODS.

If you are really lucky, your attacker will switch targets and engage the ODS. Do not stick around to enjoy the fireworks--this is your cue to make your escape.

If you are not so lucky, then hope that the ODS destroys/disables your attacker before you get blown to pieces.

    Good luck out there.

    Just an additional $0.02.

  7. Ok SC, it will be done.

I will send you the saved game as soon as I re-deplete the shuttlecrafts charge.

Unfortunately, I saw your post after I had been playing the game again and I had already recharged the one shuttlecraft that was seriously depleted by docking it with Genesis starstation and using the station's Logistix screen. Needless to say, they all now have a charge of 98% to 99%.

I will get them down to 75% or so before I zip up the files and send them in.

EDIT: For clarification; realized after posting that what I had written was unclear. I have now sent the files. My ISP's e-mail server is notoriously unreliable, so if there are any problems please let me know.

  8. My apologies, SC for not providing sufficient information in my previous post.

I have started a new game with RC9 with the following parameters: Terran/Scientist, Roam, LRT-15 unarmed transport.

By some miracle I have managed to avoid attack approximately three hours into the game and can report that all ship systems (including the auxiliary charger) are at a full 100% according to Logistix/Crafts/CC.

Both Flight Engineers are on-station. All ship systems have full power allocated in Logistix/Power.

Unfortunately I must report that my shuttlecrafts are still not being recharged according to the CVD/SSS. (I have launched them several times for various purposes and then recovered them. They are currently docked with my CC. In all cases I have used the highest AI system engineers and/or medics as pilots.)

I have a theory for why this might be happening. I have noticed that Carrier class vessels have a "central charging unit" listed in Logistix/Power. I have also noticed that the "central charging unit" does not appear in Logistix/Power on Transport class vessels. Perhaps if this unit is not present then the auxiliary charger can not work.

I am probably 100% wrong about this so it is just a theory.

In any case, given the fact that this issue does not appear to be a problem for anyone else in the community, and given the fact that I can just recharge the shuttlecrafts at a starstation or starbase; I figure this is of no importance.

I am well aware that you are quite busy SC and since I do not wish to become an annoyance, I will not bother you with this again.

I will report to the airlock now and await further orders.

    Respectfully,

    Gamaliel.

My apologies, Jeff but that sounds like official corruption to me.

IMHO the police are paid by their governments to keep the space lanes free of raiders, criminals and other such riff raff.

  10. First off, thank you SC for answering my questions over in the Clueless Newbie Questions thread. I did not realize my questions might serve a useful purpose.

I am now testing 1.0.02 RC6 and have welcomed the new flight engineers to my crew. I also noted the presence of the new auxiliary charger on Deck 4 of my transport.

However for some reason my shuttlecrafts still do not appear to be getting recharged.

I have noticed that Carrier class vessels have a charging unit listed in the Logistix Power allocation screen that does not appear on the Transport vessels Power allocation screen.

I do not know if this is in any way relevant but figured I would mention it.

Please don't flush me out the airlock - I am just a newbie.

  11. Mitchell: Here is an easy way to figure it out.

Under the Tech Support forum, take a look at the Important Announcements section and look at the Registration thread that the SC posted.

Scroll down until you reach the post where SC tells us to add the System Profile Info link to our posts and look at his example.

If you need help figuring the exact syntax for the link do this: See that little row of icons up at the top of the post-click on the one that has the "Reply with quote" tooltip or somesuch. This will allow you to see the source code for SCs example System Profile Info link. Once you are done writing down the syntax on a piece of paper, hit the back button on your browser (this is so you don't accidentally post a reply).

If you have registered, then visit the registration page and login to it to get the ID# which you will need to make the link work.

Kadil: The game CD should have originally come in an envelope made of a paper-like material. The serial number would have been on a sticker that was sealing the envelope shut. You need that serial number to register the game.

Hope I have been of assistance,

    Gamaliel out.

    LOL, "Battlecruiser Tournament".

  13. Greetings, here is my Clueless Newbie question:

As a Terran/Scientist I am in command of a Transport class vessel. How do I recharge my support crafts? Or is this even something I need to worry about?

The reason I am asking is because I make extensive use of my shuttlecrafts and they all seem to be running low on "juice".

Do they eventually get automatically recharged, or is there something I have missed in the manual?

When I tried to play a Terran/Military/Commander career and used my fighter crafts, they appeared to be recharged automatically as per the manual. The shuttles and OCs, however, were not.

I suppose it is possible I have not been playing long enough if time is a factor but I figured I would ask.

Thanks in advance for any answers,

    Gamaliel out.
