Anyway, once an intruder fled into one of my fighter crafts(FC) and FC became unavailable. My marines killed the intruder, and FC didnt took any damage(at least it doesent show on damage reports), but still its unavailabe. FC's status is ready, and it surely has pilots in it. What seems to be the problem? Are you sure that the intruders didn't kill your pilots and steal your FC? Check the logistix-screen to see if you still have your FC and medical to see if any pilots needs cloning. Thats the only thing I can think of at the moment
  2. Soback: There is enough crime in Norway, it's just not hard crime compared to a lot of other countries. Of course we could reform your criminals for you, we'll just have to make sure that you pay us to do so. Even though we have our fund and we are - lets face it - bloody rich, it would require a bit more than $1000 per prisoner. Lets look at costs for one prisoner per year: Basic costs: $145 x 356 = $52.000,-/year Integration: ~ $25.000,-/year Two way flight ticket: = $ 3.500,-/year SUM = $80.500,-/year Customs duty (30%): = $24.150,-/year SUM = $104.650,-/year NATO discount (10%) = -$ 10.465,-/year SUM = $ 94.185,-/year Markup (30%) = $ 28.255,-/year SUM = $122.440,-/year Value added tax (28%) = $ 36.732,-/year SUM = $159.172,-/year Seems to be a good deal to me... As of all your other nonsense babbling... Since we put money into the oil fund - not oil - we will still be rich day USA uses electrical cars... Oh... I forgot to mention that Norway is not equal to Europe is not equal to EU... Norway = independant country and not a member of EU. Europe = continent EU = European union - an alliance of european countries
  3. Aapem post is referring to a oil fund/mutual fund. A certain percentage of the income from oil production (actually most of it), are placed in a fund. The fund is actually one of the biggest in the world. This is done for three main reasons: 1. To secure that future generations will have the same welfare as we enjoy today. 2. The percentage of elders are increasing drastically in Norway, and the taxes that the population pay don't cover their pensions. The fund will therefore partly cover this 3. To secure that the exchange rate doesn't get to high/to lower the pressure on the market. Of course... You do only need a stock market crash for the money to have zero value... But as far as I am concerned, it is better to try to do something to secure future generations wellfare than to waste all the recourses now.
  4. ROFLMAO!!! Awesome letter! ALL hail the FSM!!!
  5. I can't actually think of any other terrorist-organization than Al-Qaida who doesn't have an political agenda: IRA, Hizbolla, the spanish organization (can't remember the name of it), etc. I'm sure there are more. Actually, come to think about it, I think I heard som "expert" say that the new thing with Al-Qaida was that it did't have any clear political agenda. I may be wrong though
  6. I've tried it and I'm completely hooked. Great fun - especially the combat.
  7. I was shocked the first time I heard they were going to starve her to death. But this is - at least in Norway - actually the most common and supposed humane way to end a life (when the patient is in a vegative state). The problem with cases like this, is that we can prolong a patient's life until it is ethical and humanly wrong to do so. In addition to this it is impossible to know for certain what the patient wants. I believe that common "practice" among doctors, at least in Norway, is to judge a life in a vegative state as both unworthy and unfullfilled for the patient. They will often "help" relatives to make the decision to end the patient's life (I guess after a certain time-line). This is partly to ease the feeling of responsibillity from the relatives. This is a very difficult and complex subject, and I don't think there are any easy answers. One thing is for certain though: cases like this will become more common the better our medical expertice/technology/know how/etc are.

Saddam behaved badly in 1990 and he got his slap. Maybe you forgot the interesting evolution of the US arguments concerning the recent intervention: - First we heard about WMD... - Then it wasn't WMD but "programmes"... - Then it was terrorism... - Now it is to introduce democracy and help the iraqui people...
  9. quote:Originally posted by Annihilator: Ok, I've got a newbie question. If I give my FC's missles that are not in their loadout profile, will they still use them? I've allways unloaded all the missles from my FC's to conserve money, and now that I have a stable and good trade route, I have enough money to buy missles for my FC's again. I almost forgot, can you use SDM/SAM/STO/APN/ODS/SDM missles? Edit: Added second question 1. Yes. 2. In general no. I don't know what an APN is, so I'm not sure about that one.
  10. quote:Originally posted by Meras: Who will build it? Do I have an options in UC to actually BUILD anything? If not does this directive mean - go mine and sell minerals to galcom stations so they can build more. You cannot build anything. The game repairs things that are destroyed (staitions, buildings, etc.). I can't remember if things are repaired based upon recources, but I seem to remember that a station will be disabled if it doesn't get supplies. Personally, I RP that the directive explains why supplies for your ship aren't free. quote:Originally posted by Meras: Who I supposed to report? I don't think there is anyone waiting for me to report in ANY mission... Confusion. You don't get any missions in roam. It is completely free form. You can't comunicate with any ship, so you can't report anything to anyone. In short RP, RP and RP.... quote:Originally posted by Meras: There is talk of a crashed probe located on a planet deep within a Supernova in the Vega Eridani system.... Try searching for "Galaxians" or "probe" in this forum quote:Originally posted by Meras: Is UC full of surprises? I mean if you play Roam mode there is the whole space opened to you. Do whatever you want, but if there is nothing to stop your attention on it will become bored soon. This is a joke right... The BC universe is nothing but surprises. A "typical" situation could be: You're attacking an enemy base (on a planet) with marines, fighters and shuttles. In the heat of battle, you suddenly hear "There is something out there". You look around... paranoid... Suddenly a stormcarrier pops up right in front of you beaming over intruders, blasting your ship to bits, while all the time launching fighters at you. While you are occupied with this, a diplomat and a wing raiders jumps into the system... quote:Originally posted by Meras: What can I do as a scientist in UC? Can I research new types of weapons or stuff like that? Or class only gives you some bonuses to specific stats? No, no and no. The BC universe is first and foremost a combat oriented game. To be able to play any other class than military should be considered a bonus. If you like free-form games, I can guarantee that you won't tire of this game. The BC-games are gifts sent from... ...well... ...the SC
  11. quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: There terrorists, plain and simple, they should not be covered by any convention. An eye for an eye....?

    Weekend

Just wanted everyone to know that it's 35 minutes till weekend. I tell you this because in 35 minutes I'll be sitting in my garden drinking a beer and watching the birds, and for some of you the day has only just started..... This week started on Sunday... workwise.... and I've been looking forward to this weekend ever since. I'll be starting the weekend with a beer, and I'll surely end it with an akevitt... Only thing I don't like, is that I have to prepare for a speach for a birthday party. Does anyone know of a good opening line? Have a good weekend everyone. 13. Yeah, that's the movie I was thinking of Chavik. Thanks.
  14. LOL quote:Nah, we're not getting old just everyone else seems to be getting younger . [/QB]...and you're getting that much wiser? Anyways... sorry for bringing this off topic, but was that the movie with Patric Swayze (or whatever his name is...)? Or am I waayyyy off target?
  15. quote:Your Idea of AMERIKA, is not my AMERICA. My point again avoided and attacked by those who apparantly choose to wear blinders, rather than face truth. I am an AMERICAN, who stands for TRUE principle, and TRUE freedom, and the TRADITIONAL AMERICAN way of life. This has got to be one of the better statements I've ever heard on this board, ever. I didn't understand what you were talking about until El Che explained the difference between Amerika/America. Very cool street
  16. I usually, when starting a new game, sell all my spare equipment and all SA/AA missiles. That way I get some starting cash to trade with. When it comes to probes, I'm sure it's explained in the manual. BUT since I am in a fairly good mood (it's too early in the morning to be in a good mood) Hit Alt-s (tacops), on the right side of the screen you'll see all your assets. Your probes should be listed here. Left click on one of the GREEN probe-boxes, and you'll get the option to launch a probe. Then simply... launch the probe. On a side note, I'm not sure if trader-ships actually have probes. To check this, goto tactical - loadout - cc. If your ship is fitted with probes, there should be a button with the label "probes" on it. Most importantly though.... read this and fix your sig. [ 05-27-2004, 02:53 AM: Message edited by: Vixef ]
  17. quote:Originally posted by kinein: I must ask a question, can you capture ships in this game? I am about taking things from npcs and what not ships guns weapons soldiers stations you name it. It's the reason why I enjoy playing X2 and why I enjoyed Morrowwind and other games of the type It's also the reason I'm getting Thief3. You can't capture ships and put it in a "ship pool" so to speak. But you can capture ships and deliver them to stations. That'll give you experience points, which again (if your caste is military) will give you higher rank. If you get a high enough rank you'll get "command and control". That means you can control allied ships in the form of "go to x", "escort x", attack x", "launch y fighters of type x", and so on. You can also capture stations. That'll result in experience points and the station becomming allied. The best part of the game is not what you CAN do, but what you CANNOT do.... Hope that answeared some of your questions
  18. Try this or how about this , this , or this ... or.... try reading the topics you are searching for
  19. quote:Originally posted by Krill: Hi is there anyone that can help me im looking for a list on trade routes and the items needed for the route. Thanks In general, this is how it works: Trading both ways between two stations are profitable if: 1. they have the same inflation level 2. they have different speciality 3. the distance isn't too long If the inflation level is different, trading is only profitable in one direction: From the station with low inflation to one with higher inflation. To find out inflation rates and speciality, you'll either have to look in the appendix or experiment. Just remember that inflation changes over time. For more information, try searching the forum. There are a lot of information about the subject.
  20. quote:Originally posted by NukeIt: how do you get your crew to eat their nutripacks? When the HF reaches around 500 they'll go to the galley. If the galley is full (of crewmembers), the waiting hungry crewmembers will go from personell/officer quarters to the galley until they can get inside. Crewmembers will automatically go off duty when they are hungry or too tired to continue on station.
  21. quote:Originally posted by El Che: Seriously though, I'm looking forward to the change in government and I look forward to working with all of you, my brothers, in the dawn of the new socialist government. You're gonna love it. I would probably rob a bank and start a new world empire called "All hail Vixef". Then I would rename all the stars to Vixef. It would make stargazing a lot simpler, interesting and confusing. Or if you PAID me enough El Che, I could come help you build the new socialist government... Seriously. I'd probably go live in the wilderness. It shouldn't be too hard to get there fast, as I have a huge forest as my next door neighbour. Only problem would be to enjoy life. I'm not sure if I would really want to stick around in THIS world if everything collapses.
  22. I only play in roam mode because then I can do excactly: - what I want - whenever I want - however I want. That's beauty of the BC-universe.
  23. Estimates for the oil reserves changes all the time. In the 70s estimates were something like 20 years for the North sea, and today I think it is around 50 years. If we had used the same extraction-technology as in the 70s, the oil reserves would be almost exhausted by now. So the extraction-technology is probably the main factor for why the oil reserves are getting "bigger". Also the know-how and comprehension of nature has a lot to do with it of course. (In the North sea, when calculating the oil-platforms, they operate with estimated 100 years waves as a calculating value. The first estimate was exceeded several times within a few years. Since then, I think they've changed the estimate 3 or 4 times (or something like that).) We find new oil reserves all the time, plus the smaller oil-reserves havenÔÇÖt been exploited yet ÔÇô simply because itÔÇÖs too expensive for the big oil companies to do so. In my opinion, though, the future is looking bleak. Not because we use oil as petroleum, but because oil is a very important recourse in other products.
  24. I think I've been in every computer store where I live, but not one store has UC. Today though, I went into a computer store asking my usual question: "Are you going to get UC?". He looks it up on the computer and ask "Do you mean Universal Combat - Edge to edge?". So the thing is, they had heard about UCE2E but not UC. How do you explain that? Anyways, after a bit searching he found it and told me he'd order it and that it'll come in the beginning of next week. I'm crossing my fingers, but I'm kinda starting to loose faith. Maybe I'll just order it from Amazon or something
