  1. I have a minor question to ask. Is it possible to adjust the settings of the Tac-ops that when you are fully zoomed out in the planet view you can see your units (and perhaps waypoints). I found this when I was deploying mining drones on Mars, but finding it rather difficult to relocate them once I left the second level zoom(by noting the coordinates when I used the zoom-to feature to the units in question and carefully moving the mouse pointer in the general vincinity and zooming in) Thanks PegasusJF
  2. I have a 56k, but after you've had a T1 (when I was at college), you're spoiled! PegasusJF
  3. I was referring that I don't really use the MP aspect of any game I own because I have a slow modem. I don't pretend to have played this game in any great amount recently (I've been waiting for the final patch). I've only commented on a specific set of occurances of the game which I saw in the demo and earlier versions of BCM and tested if there was any changes with the most recent patch. I do plan to start playing since there aren't any known bugs left and I think I'll enjoy this game greatly despite my disagreement over the power of cloaking. PegasusJF
  4. In the situation I presented, I only attacked with the main beam weapons, and there was no response from Tulon. I admit its a fairly minor point in SP and a non-issue in MP (I don't MP much though), and doesn't destroy the many other aspects of playability of a fine game. IMO, there should not be any easy/no-fail means to accomplish any task in a game. My 2 cents. PegasusJF
  5. Thank you for the prompt reply Mr. Smart. I'm saddened to hear this won't be adjusted, but that's your call. I'll just try to ignore that I have a cloaking device when I attack bases. Thanks PegasusJF
  6. Hello, it's been awhile. When I played BCM before, I noticed what was in my eyes a critical flaw in the gameplay of BCM. The "Cloak raid" ie. Cloaking you ship before you jump in to attack a starstation (in my tests, Tulon) and firing away without fear of retaliation. Having seen responses in earlier posts that showed that the problem was noted. I put BCM aside and kept an eye on the VCF for fixes that addressed this problem and waited for the full release of 1.08. Now it seems that 1.08 RC38 is that release (no further issues to be looked at in the VCF), and steps have been taken for this problem in 1.06 (stronger shields/armor), and 1.08 RC5 (ships decloak briefly when firing). However, when I installed 1.08 RC36 and conducted tests, the results were discouraging) I took a BC MKIII to Arima, waited until I had full engine power, cloaked and went to the Tulon Base. I did note that when I fired as cloacked there was a visual effect (neat looking!) around my ship. Unfortunately when I approached within PTA range of Tulon and the PTAs fired, no reaction from Tulon (and no graphic effect in the external view), when I approached within 2km from Tulon and opened up with my main guns. I got no reaction from Tulon and fired until Tulon was destroyed. I do note however that when I uncloaked during the first test I was plastered. This is a critical flaw to me. I suppose I should just ignore the fact that I can cloak if I wish to balance the game. But I think that this ship system shouldn't be the end-all/surefire-kill tactic that always works. Perhaps the station (or any other enemy warship/fighter/marine) should have a percentage chance to see the visual distortion of a firing cloaked ship, target that distortion and fire until it obvious that the attacker is no longer there and search for further attacks or the regular distortions when cloaking, repeating attacks as necessary (a cat a mouse game) I ask that this be remedied at the nearest convience. Thank you. PegasusJF ps...I searched BCM General Discussion, tips and tricks, and the newbie forum under "cloak" to see if this has been brought up since the two previous patches that I noted. None were found since 1.08 RC5. I do apologize if this is a repeat
  7. Ok, I understand (I'm afriad I didn't consider the impact of time acceleration on multiplayer), thank you for replying. God Bless! PegasusJF
  8. quote:Originally posted by Soback: Ok, if you are talking about BCM then those rectangles flashing are mission zones, they should be flashing like this (appearing and dissapearing) it draws you attention to them and is not a bug. If they are flashing a little too fast to select them (known and will be updated so that they flash slower in a later patch) then you can select it from the menu you can find to the left of the screen in TACOPS. Yes, I am aware of this and that is not my problem. I am assuming that there are mission zones all over the earth map. But, these mission zones do not even appear around the lower right quadrant because the game begins to draw in the zones in their respective locations starting in the upper left, finishes drawing in the top of the map, then starts in the lower left quardrant, and POOF, it all disappears and restarts again and again! I cannot see any mission zones in the lower right quadrant even after zooming in. I may be already discribing what you already know, I apologize if I am. It's late and I can't sleep. God Bless! 9. I was thinking of posting this as a new topic, but I suppose questions (and yes, mild gripes) about certain conventions of gameplay would be safer to post here. Having played the demos and the new game for a moderate amount of time. I overall do like what I see, but there are a few things I would wonder might be altered in the future? Also, I would like to note that I have checked this board in the past year for other discussions of this nature. 1. Survivablity- I was in a Battlecruiser Mk III and made an attack on the Tulon station in Tau Ceti. My first attempt I didn't even bother to cloak, and got wasted as I jumped out of hyperspace. But my second attempt I cloaked after I jumped in, hypered over to Tulon, and uncloaked when I was only 30 km away from it, Tulon was destroyed quite quickly. Granted, I suppose some luck was applied because I didn't come off unharmed, I had significant damage in fact, but I did leave under my own power. In BC3K, tackling a station by oneself with IOD and PTA was a very daunting task and took at least 10 minutes. In BCM it could be accomplished much much easier. I think this is mostly due to the fact that the rate of fire was increased substantaily for a fully charged bolt. (I guess 100 IOD in BCM fires at the rate of 10-30% I0D in BC3K). I suppose that this isn't the only balancing issue involved regarded to survivablity (a consequence of this that fighters are more potent weapons now, perhaps they could retain their potency if an alternative was avialable?). But would it be rude to ask that there could be an option open to people who wish to make ships and stations more resilient, or reduce the rate of fire for the main guns of ships? 2. I must insist, we need time acceleration. I apologize, but I can be an impatient man and wish to get to the action in all haste. 3. I mentioned this in more detail in my post regarding planetside tacops in the general issues in the tech support forum, regarding the inability to create waypoints on the planetsurface for craft currently in space. I believe that is all the major points I wish to comment about gameplay. I would greatly appreciate a response by anyone in the BC3000AD company on these points. And I imagine I will enjoy BCM for some time. God Bless! PegasusJF
  10. I have been noticing a strange occurance when I observe planets in Tacops. I get the large boxes with the specific castes, but the small boxes that signify the mission zones start to fill these larger boxes, and then they all inexplicably disappear and start from the beginning again (it seems to have a constant rate). For large planets like Earth, it doesn't even finish showing all the mission zones, while for smaller planets like Mars it shows all but they also disappear. Please help. Also, this may belong in the general discussion form but I feel this is severe enough to warrant it's mention here. In BC3K 2.09. I was able to set waypoints for craft CURRENTLY in space on the planetside tacops screen. I have looked at the manual and I see little difference between the interfaces of BC3K and BCM. The problem is that I cannot set waypoints planetside for craft currently in space. Since all craft seem to start in the middle of the map after planetfall and the apparent lack of time acceleration this could be problematic for gameplay. Well, thank you for listening. I would greatly appreciate responses to these problems. God Bless! PegasusJF [ 11-25-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
