  1. You can ckeck out the definiton here at Dictonary.com I wanted to convey the idea of being a protector or a shield against the enemy, and the fact that I'm willing to take the hits to protect them. To kind of be the impenetrable wall between friend and foe. [though I've got my arse blasted to bits quite a few times ] Cheers!
  2. Well then just add your sig I'm just saying post it in the newbie discussion because it's probably the safest place to post [eyes scan sideways...] heh. quote: BC Newbie Discussions OK. You're a noob and proud of it. So, get in here! Anything goes, as long as you've READ the manual *AND* the appendix. From my little experience here, if you think you've found a problem, you'd better examine the hell out of it, document everything you've done and only when you're 100% sure it's a problem post it. Because if it isn't the SC will convey textual sentiments that will make you run away and hide for days at a time. [believe me, I know] I'm just telling you to take the safest way I can see so you can avoid some unnecessary tensions. Cheers!
  3. Or did you just want to smash another bottle of champagne? BTW, i like the name. [ 11-25-2002, 08:44 PM: Message edited by: Fractux ]
  4. It vanished because you are posting in the wrong forum, and you have not looked through all the forum sections listed at the top. The SC is very picky about this. I know because I get blasted a lot too So, read all the sections listed at the top of this forum, add your signature and link to your system specs. Repost your questions in the BC Newbie Discussions. That's why it got deleted. Hope this helps. Cheers!
  5. Oh no, then the kids won't know how to get a seat on the bus... or realize that they have to be quick to get that last parking spot... We need musical chairs! Frankly, I never remember musical chairs fostering aggressiveness at all. Cheers! [ 11-25-2002, 02:36 PM: Message edited by: Fractux ]
  6. Hmmm, well I'll trow an article I read into this debate. It was posted on /. so many of you may have read it already. quote: Makarand writes "We all know that with electronics it is very difficult to be green. We leave our computer waste in the recyle bin lest dangerous chemicals like lead and mercury seep into our landfills. The more dedicated environmentalists make a trip to the local recyling center where they may be asked around to pay around $15-$30 to recycle their old PCs. But guess what -- these 'recyclers' merely ship 50-80% of this stuff overseas. The Mercury News has a report on this ugly side of the PC industry which merely exports the recycling problems instead of solving them." Article: http://www.bayarea.com/mld/mercurynews/4591233.htm Cheers!

  8. BCO would have to be the one. Most definitely.
  9. heh... that's a very good one. Cheers!
  10. I still want to go and check out this movie. It's probably not going to be playing in a large number of theaters though. http://www.bowlingforcolumbine.com/ I have yet to go see it, but a lot of my friends who have said it was very interesting. Admitedly, this film has it's own bias, as you will no doubt tell from the intro on their site, but it's supposed to be very well made, as it won at the Cannes Film Festival. Anyways, I'm going to check it out when I get the chance and see what it has to say. Cheers! BTW, this was made by an American, just to clear that up. 11. Alright, I'll give that last tactic a try. Thanks for the help everyone. I will most probably be needig more in the near future Cheers!
  12. Greets guys... Ok, problem here. Now I haven't played BCM in quite a while, since I was having so many problem with it before. Now I've got it all patched up, and it seems to be running pretty stable now, so I've decided to "invest" my time in it once more. So, I'm just trying the campain now [redux], and in the first mission, you have to escort the diplomat to majoris. Now What I had done right away was drop my mining drones off on the moon, and I sent 2 of my fighters [i was a BCmk2] to escort the diplomat. So all is going fine and dandy until the fighters get into Arima, in Tau Ceti. [i had stayed behind for a while to get my shuttles back, and then I proceeded to head to Majoris in my BC.] So, the fighters in Arima identify a hostile target, and then go after it. I tell them again to just ESCORT the diplomat, but they've already jumped to the target. They both proceeded to die instantly. Now, how the heck am I supposed to solve this? Do I just follow the diplomat in my cruiser? Will my figters always run off to arrack the first hostile they see even when on escort duty? Is there no way to get them to stick with their target and not run off? (Besides teleporting them out of their ship, beating them with a stick until they understand, then sending them back? [Resnig seems to enjoy this, so it's not effective on him ]) Any tips/info would be helpfull. Cheers! [ 11-25-2002, 06:54 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  13. Well, the Storming of the Bastille in Paris happened on July 14, 1789. That's what he's commenting on. Being directed at the above comment: quote: Lotharr darling, even assuming that your view of our economy is remotely accurate, a point I'm not willing to concede, your assumption that people will somehow become away of what's going on is laughable. Despite the communist ranting to the contrary, people don't just figure things out like this, and as a whole they are rather stupid. The average person is complacent, bovine, and, lacking an inspiring leader, they will take just about anything lying down. He's refering to the French Revolution. Hope that clears thing up for you. Cheers! [ 11-20-2002, 07:42 PM: Message edited by: Fractux ]
  14. Boy, this is one thing I've missed about these boards.. such lively discussions. Cheers!
  15. quote:Originally posted by Epsilon 5: ASE is free. Paying only get you a few more options, and you get priority on the server burden.[/QB]Well, I read this from their site quote:The All-Seeing Eye is shareware, you have 21 days to evaluate the product after which you must register if you continue using it. [ http://www.udpsoft.com/eye/register.html ] ... ???
  16. Just a question SC, if we are using ASE, are we going to have to pay for that program's registration in order to play BCM MP games?
  17. Hmmm... now why would a gamer take time from his rigourous game playing shcedule to sit in front of the tele and watch other people play games? Sheesh... They want to really make sure gamers never get ANY work done by covering all the bases..
  18. My favorites have all been mentioned, except for my all time favourite movie: "The Big Lebowski" I'd also have to add "Dr. Strangelove, Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb" to the list. Cheers! [ 04-20-2002, 18:54: Message edited by: Fractux ]
  19. If there's one thing I've learned so far, sympathy is pretty hard to come by here ... heh
  20. Hmmm: Star Controll Starflight Dessert Strike Super Bomber Man That's all I can think of right now Cheers!
  21. Jaguar, take a look here... http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/world/mid...ast/default.stm Read through all the news articles. quote: I so not understand what you are saying at all, what I see is that Israel should just sit back and let the Palestinians SLAUGHTER thier civilian citizens. Now, firstly, nowhere did I say this, so I don't know why you're saying this. Note also that Palestinian civilians are getting slaughtered too. quote: I DON'T THINK SO, it is time, PAST TIME, for Israel to STOP this carnage and push the Palestinains back to a point where they cry uncle. The only thing that terrorists understand is OVERWHELMING force This implies that all palestinians are terrorists, which is not obviously not true. quote: The Israeli's should destroy EVERY building that has had ANYTHING to do with a terrorist, if a terrorist hid there, DESTROY it, if a Terrorist lived there DESTROY it, if a TERRORIST visited there, DESTROY it.Aply logic like that to the US.. I guess they'll have to blow up all those airfields where the terrorists were trained... and those hotels too... Hmmm, doesn't sound so rosy does it? quote: It will show the Palestinians that if they help terrorists, are friends with terrorists, or attempt to help terrorism in ANY way shape or form, THEY WILL LOSE EVERYTHING that they hold dear. IT WILL BE DESTROYED, so let the terrorists burn, and do not attempt to help them and you will be fine. Once again, just look at the facts. As soon as one side attacks, the other retaliates, regardless of who attacked first. This conflict is not just aout terrorism and routing out terrorists. My post was not there to start an argument, I though it was rather moderate. But you did not deal with the issues I stated. Notice that I said the following: quote: While boths sides have done horrible things to eachother, this does not excuse either side to take actions to escalate the conflict.I'm not taking sides here, but I am saying that Israel's current military operation is not going to solve anything. 22. I've been having debates about this on various discussion groups, and here's a short summary of what I can say now. What is happening now is a product of historical events that have happened and of political ambitions. While boths sides have done horrible things to eachother, this does not excuse either side to take actions to escalate the conflict. As things stand right now, the Israeli army has cut off any chance the Palestinian authori could ever have to resolve this crisis. The Israli intent is clear, and that is to wipe out the Palestinian State. The Israeli army is currently giving the Palestinians two options, either sit back and watch us destoy your state, or fight back. That is why people are upset. I don't know if peace in the middle east could ever have been, or be possible, but I can tell you that what is happening now is wrong, and what is being done is wrong. And I say this because this conflict has the possibility of eascalating. Look at all the protests going on, and all the tension building up. If this does not stop, something will burst and another country may jump into the fray. As soon as this happens, we will find a very nasty war on our hands. What some people thought would be small conflicts in the past, and that stated off as small local conflicts, have turned out to be some of the biggest wars this world has seen. 23. I really like those rounded nacelles, they give the ship a nice feel. They remind me of the nacelles on early ST ships. The bow looks like a menacing fish... which is cool... heh [ 04-03-2002, 13:25: Message edited by: Fractux ]
