  1. I must admit, it would be odd to ask the president of Blizzard if he could change the way a Zerg Hydralisk spits and then become cranky and ask "why not?" when that president says no.
  2. What scares me is watching 60minutes(II, I think) a while back when they interviewed well educated, healthy, physics students in Afghanastan who believe we deserved what happened. They're not even angry. They seem just as peaceful and at one with the world as we do, yet utterly believe we deserved it. That's what seems so alien and hideous to me... 3. quote: I assume this is ok... I uploaded the patch to my own website. No promises on download speed. NOTE: this is the pre jetpack patch. Will reupload it tonight... --bcm1002.exe-- Never mind... The server decided to have problems... I tried... [ 12-15-2001: Message edited by: Blerm ]
  4. I was flying around in a shuttle while my CC was being repaired in earth orbit. After a while, I decided to head back to earth. Usually, for some anal reason, I like to line my ship up with my destination before I hit the hyperdrive, but this time I didn't. Apparently I was facing exactly 180 degrees away from my ship and was startled to suddenly go into hyperspace backwards (I was expecting the shuttle to orient itself first). It re-emrged into normal space and then spun around. Now that's a kick-ass reverse.

  7. quote:Originally posted by XenoZohar: 1. Is it ok to make, say, 3 relatively small (2-4 gigs) partitions for 3 OS's, and then split the rest into storage areas (like for games, regular software, etc.)? Is there a better way? Edit: The OS's are Win98se, Win2kpro, and Linux, FYI. 3. Should I invest in Partition Magic or would fdisk be enough for the above partitioning? (See question 1) [ 12-12-2001: Message edited by: XenoZohar ] (1) Three, 2-4Gig partitions is fine, just don't make the 'storage' partition too big or you'll waste space. (3) FDISK is relatively straight forward and easy to use and will do everything you want. Just depends on how comfortable you are with MSDOS apps. I Put together some WIN9x/2k partition info here. I don't know too much about how LINUX handles this stuff. P.S.: I have used 45Gig hard drives with no problems... Haven't had a chance to play with anything bigger yet... Hope this helps
  8. quote:Originally posted by Paddy Gregory: Also, my harddrive was installed by vendor a year ago (after my original died) and I asked him not to partition it. Was that a mistake? Can I do that when I reformat? (And again, how?) Thanks anyway. Generally, you do want partitions, because it reduces the size of the minimal allocation block per file. If you have yer drive formatted with one 20G partition, and save a 3k text file, it will take up more hard drive space than the same 3k text file saved on a 20G hard drive with two or more partitions. People with 40G hard drives or more DEFINATELY want to partition it... in some cases (depending on operating system) the difference in available space can be 40/50%
  9. That used to happen to me alot, too. It always seemd to coincide with the (now fixed ) persistent damage fx thingy. Since that's been remedied, I've only lost pieces of my shuttles twice (mk2 and mk3). One time was after undocking with a space station (don't remember which)... can't remember the other... Not too helpful, info wise, but just to say that someone else has experienced this...

  12. Hey! That's pretty damn cool. If I could now just find out what the 'MAO' in 'ROTFLMAO' meant!

  15. I tried to kill a SF Marine with my Cruiser once, and kept thinking if he could see me coming, and in his little viewer see that a huge damned mothership was coming to destroy little ol' HIM hahaha. Perhaps only then did he know what it meant to be hated... haha... ...ahem.. and I did say ONCE... I use fighters and missles now and sometimes just hop out myself and get the chumps. 16. I find if I set WP1 to DEPLOY DRONE and WP2 to PROCEED TO NEXT, the shuttle drops off the drone and then comes back to my ship... very nice. I then leave the system, do something else... come back in a few hours and I've got four full drones... mooohaa. [ 12-08-2001: Message edited by: Blerm ]

From personal experience and from what others have told me, WinME has too many problems. So much that works with everything else does not work with WinME... The fact that you "no longer have this problem" sounds like it's solved to me. Count your blessings and enjoy the game.

  19. quote:Originally posted by Count_Sessine: Gents, I wonder if you can help me with a fix for this: 2/ Water on planets is really strange: it doesn't move! Flying over coast lines is weird, the coast moves, but the water looks like it's anchored 'under' the land. [ 12-05-2001: Message edited by: Count_Sessine ] Personally, I think the water effect you're talking about is cool. It actually looks deeper than the land, rather than being just a different colour than the land, which I think might have been the intent.
  20. I know you're still investigating but I have noticed that whenever I have the persistent damage FX, my shuttles seem to become partially or completely invisible from any view that is external to the shuttle. Does this happen to anyone else? ... And it only happens when the damage FX kick in... Don't know if this helps... PS: System specs should be attached to bottom of message if I've done it right...
