  1. I haven't bought an X-Box 360 yet, so see if you can do some sort of packaged deal: --==Excalibur Series X-Box 360==-- "The Hardware Finally Caught up to Smart Simulations"
  2. Smaller Gank squads is the way to go, any more than 20 or so ships in 1 area and you start to notice the lag, more than 50 ships and everyone's moving at half speed.
  3. quote:Originally posted by Frozen Ghost: Darkling, I hear what you are saying and I respect that, but if everyone is so gung-ho why the constant extensions and why have we drained our reserves already? Are you kidding me??? Hello!!!! WTC happened just months into W's Presidency, Clinton had been draining, gutting and slashing the Military for the previous 8 years and the first ones to get cut were the Professional Soldiers. Do you think Clinton got that wonderful surplus by reducing Government Spending? All that was left to the Military when we went to get the Taliban was mostly reservist. Why do you think that in the VERY FIRST stages of the war, we had to call up GUARD UNITS!!! Usually they're the last ones to go. Most of the guys that had left the military went on to make careers in the private sector, and yes some did come back, but the vast majority had moved on.
  4. quote:Originally posted by PTCruiser: .... I don't know what is worse.... Thousands of our soldiers going off to die because they were lied to when they were told they were "fighting for their country" or some foreigner making a joke of it. 1st of all, ask the vast majority of solders over there if they think "They Were Lied to" and they will tell you an overwhelming "NO". One of my best friends is over there and he believes that he's helping people, both over there and helping to maintain security over here. Most of his comrades feel the same way. Second, what about Washington DC's having a high rate of people getting killed by guns do you find to be funny? Where's the joke, it's a simple fact.
  5. quote:Originally posted by $iLk: quote:Originally posted by Darkling: .... History has shown us that yesterdays 3rd world country is tomorrows Superpower, and today's superpower is tomorrows 3rd world country. So I take it you believe that Saddam Hussein was well on his way to subjugating the United States of America under his iron boot until we 'bravely' stepped in and stopped him? I haven't smoked anything good in a while - what have you been smoking? When Hitler rolled into Austria and took over, I'm sure people like you were saying, "So what, give it to him, let's not provoke him and end up in war." Later when he demanded Czechoslovakia's Sudetenland, again the forces of "Peace" said, Oh well, just give it to him, we don't want to go to war over this. Yet, just one year later, Germany rolled into Poland and plunged all of Europe into WWII. Keep in mind that back then, Germany was still considered "crippled" from it's rebuilding efforts since WWI, and wasn't considered a major threat, yet they almost succeeded in subjugating all of Europe. The ONLY reason Hitler didn't win was because of US intervention. I'm not saying that we would have been subjugated by Saddam, but if he had been allowed to take over Kuwait, it would have given him a substantial amount of cash to finance an even larger army than what he had. Once he had finished pumping up his army, he could have headed for either Iran or Saudi Arabia, either one of those could have given him a total of around 40% of total World Oil reserves. With that kind of cash, he could have definitely become a major threat to the US. The Point is, we knew what his plans were. Why let it get to that? We could have stopped Germany fairly easily when he first went into Austria, it would have been a fairly short war, and things would have gotten back to normal fairly quickly, but instead we gave him the time and money needed to build up his army's to the point to where they were practically unstoppable. Someone like you doesn't understand this because you think that everything can be solved diplomatically. You don't seem to realize that there are evil people out there that want you dead. You think that just because someone has become a ruler of a country, that this person must be a reasonable person that can be negotiated with, but that is not always the case. History has shown us that there are many rulers who are simply crazy, evil or a bit of both and simply cannot be trusted. I'm sure that during his day, many people saw Hitler as a benevolent force for good. They would point out to his Olympic games and scientific contributions that his administration gave to civilized society, but it was a well orchestrated front designed to politicize every aspect of his life to get him to the point where he needed to be. People like you say that was in the past and people like that don't exist today, but they do, and we have to be vigilant, otherwise we risk repeating the same mistakes over and over.
  6. quote:Originally posted by $iLk: Do I think weapons in the hands of 'madmen' are a good thing? No. But I am also a realist who believes that it would literally be suicide for any other nation to use a WMD against the United States. ...Do you think that the Mighty Roman Empire ever thought that some "Barbarian Rabble" would ever challenge their empire? And yet this is exactly what happened, and the empire was brought to it's knees by the Goths, Gauls, Visigoths and Persia (today Iran). Alexander the Great was thought of by the Royalty of Persia as a Madman, a Barbarian who didn't have the men, the means or the money to attack them. Yet he did so with 1/10 the men and ten times the zeal. He brought the Persian empire to it's knees at a time when he was thought of as vastly inferior. Why do you think he's called Alexander the Great today? Because he had superior forces, superior weaponry and all odds at his favor? Victory doesn't Always go to the mighty. When the American colony's declared war on the "SuperPower" of the day, do you think ANYONE in the British Empire thought they had a snowballs chance in hell of winning? Heck No!!! At one point in History, the Russians were a superpower, the British where a superpower, the Germans, the French, Spain, Turkey (the Byzantine Empire), Hungary (the Huns), China, Iran (Persian Empire), The Mongols, The Romans and I could go on and on and on. Some of these empires lasted thousands of years, and some for a single generation, but each thought when they were on top that no one could defeat them. They were all wrong. History has shown us that yesterdays 3rd world country is tomorrows Superpower, and today's superpower is tomorrows 3rd world country.
  7. quote:Originally posted by $iLk: Bush created the very situation that (wake up America) website describes by invading a country that he didn't have to invade. .....Is this your canned response to everything? So when the Jihadists bombed the WTC the first time (under Clinton) what was that? Did they bomb us because they KNEW we would be voting for Bush in the future? The Wake up America website basically makes the point that THEY declared war on US .... YEARS Ago, not just recently, and not 'because of Bush'. So obviously, you sir, are still asleep.
  8. quote:Originally posted by $iLk: There are millions dying around the world. What makes the Iraqis so special that they deserve our special attention beyond the fact that Iraq sits on 1/4 of the world's oil? What makes them so special is that the Oil they sit on is worth Trillions. Do you REALLY want Trillions of dollars in the hands of a lunatic? Keep in mind that the only reason Hitler was able to accomplish his plans were because he was well financed. Some reports go as far as saying that Petro-dollars from Royal Dutch financed him by anywhere from 4 to 55 Million Guilders. Imagine Trillions in the hands of lunatics, what they could do with that kind of cash? In other parts of the world, despot's don't have the cash to carry out their dilusional plans, but in Iraq, they did, and then some.
  9. quote:Originally posted by Frozen Ghost: Oh good grief man, Iraq had nothing to do with 911. Tell me, what nationalities were the 911 high-jackers? They are already here preaching Jihad in the mosques every day.I didn't say that they had anything to do with 911, but if you think that they're just going to "wave us off", you're mistaken, they'll gather their forces, plot and plan and come and attack. You'll see. quote:Originally posted by Frozen Ghost: ÔÇØYou really think this is all about Oil? ..... So it isn't about Oil its about Saddam insulting America and being a bad-guy in the region? Well then we need to impeach the President, he lied to us about why he wanted to go to war.Did he lie? Or was it US Intelligence, or was it Russian intelligence, or was it British intelligence. Hell, the whole world thought he was amassing weapons of mass distruction. quote:Originally posted by Frozen Ghost: Also, what was the kill-rate during Saddam's reign? Does it come anywhere near the kill-rate occurring now? ... So what you're saying is "Innocent Iraquies were dying, not US soldiers and Innocent Iraq citizens don't count for a hill of beans in my book" In other words, US citizens are the only ones that matter when people die. Anyone else that dies, well they don't count, they're not really "Human Beings", they're more like animals.
  10. quote:Originally posted by Frozen Ghost: I don't care to send anymore American's to die for those ungrateful bastards, not a single one. Problem is they don't share the same outlook, if we pull out, they'll just follow us back here. You do remember what happened on Sept. 11th don't you? quote:Originally posted by $iLk: The figure for U.S. deaths is a bit misleading. The figure for Washington is everyone in Washington D.C. - the first figure only includes American soldiers, not the 40,000+ Iraqis who have died during the conflict. Are we also including the figures of all those who died during Saddam's purge and Biological warfare binges? He killed hundreds of thousands, if not millions, but of course, all everyone wants to talk about is the people that died since the US has been involved. Everything else, just "Didn't happen" quote:Originally posted by Frozen Ghost: Take the money we've spent on this war and put in hard research and I guarantee you we will have a dozen solutions to the energy/oil problem. You really think this is all about Oil? Please, the US has spent FAR MORE on this problem than any savings or whatever to be reaped from Oil. This was about letting someone like Saddam thumb his nose at us, while he had billions in petro-dollars to do whatever he wanted to do. He gassed his own population to control them, how soon before he would be doing the same to his other enemies in the region, and more importantly, how would the US be seen if we allowed him to stay in power. It would be the equivalent of letting Hitler keep his presidency after WWII if he had survived. Note that right after we invaded Iraq, Syria (at least I think it was Syria, which one is Mohamar Kadafee president of again) gave up their nuclear program and asked the US to come over and take it all away. Why did they do this? Because they realized that the US was serious. We weren't the Paper Tiger that we had been under Clinton.
  11. Tried that, had my son in an Iskur, fitted with an auto targeting unit. He couldn't target me before I recloaked.. but then again, his targeting skills are only level 4, so I guess I'll have to try finding someone with higher level skills.
  12. Hell, I go through 0.0 space all the time in my Iteron V with a cloak fitted, and I've never been "insta-locked" before I can recloak. Basically I jump into a system, move a bit, recloak instantly and depending on what I see, I'll either align for warp to the next gate, or I'll just wait for them to leave before I make my next move. To me it's dificult to have a POSITIVE experience in a game, unless it's POSSIBLE to have a NEGATIVE experience. Games where you don't really lose anything for making bad decisions, don't interest me.

  14. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: .... As to Eve and walking .... In order to get out, you need a full blown fps engine. I wish them luck though. Actually, a friend of mine went to the Fan Fest in Iceland and they already have the FPS engine. If they really wanted to they could implement it tomorow, but they're adding a bunch of things to it before it's ready to go. One of the things they're going to be doing with it is adding logic that makes your character "Look" at the person they're talking to, or if you're not talking to anyone and someone approaches you, you look at them as you would anyone that normally approaches you in real life. In other words, if you're passing someone in a hallway, you tend to glance at that person as you pass them by. In your typical SWG character, you could pass someone buy, talk to them whatever, you still have the same blank stare in your eyes. Not here, they're trying to make it more "life like". It's actually pretty cool when you think about it. At any rate, from what I hear, when it first comes out, you're just going to be able to go into the stations, lounge around in the VIP areas of the Bar, (you are after all a "revered" Capsuleer, the creme de la creme of society) and basically just socialize with others. Once they flesh out the problems with the FPS engine, they will implement code to allow fights and things like that, then expand from there to the planets and everything.
  15. quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: The problem, Wolferz, is that after next month - all upcoming games will be for Vista only. I foresee the down-fall of PC gaming as we know it...... Let's see, most publishers didn't announce dropping support for Windows 2000 until around the same time that Vista Beta was coming out. So I think it will be at least 5 to 10 years before support for Windows XP is dropped by most publishers. Oh and one other thing, my game of choice is EVE, and while EVE Officially dropped support for Windows 2000, it actually plays better on my Windows 2000 machine than it does on my WinXP machine, and they both have the same amount of memory, same processor and same motherboard. The only thing different is the Sound card on my Win2K machine doesn't work well with WinXP so I didn't upgrade that machine because of that.
  16. Kind of reminds me about when I first moved to Miami, and all my friends where like, OMG!! You're moving to the Murder Capitol of the World!.... Well I didn't believe the hype, because I know these guys are just trying to sell a story, I did however, find out why they got this reputation. There's a small patch of a city called Liberty City that encompasses about 20 square blocks or so, just outside of Downtown Miami. This small area was in the middle of a Drug war and the VAST majority of the people who were getting killed were rival drug dealers. To hear it from the news in Rhode Island, where I lived at the time, you would think the entire city was up in flames, with shootouts at 'High Noon' on a daily basis. No, a VERY small group of people living in a poverty stricken VERY small tract of land, had taken up the press' time and imagination and that's all they talked about for years. It got to the point that ANYONE who died in this area, be it from a gunfight, heart attack or car accident, became the speculation of bloody gang warfare. Anyone who bothered to look into the truth, found that it was all just a load of hype. While there definitely was a problem with the area, people die on a daily basis for a variety of reasons that had NOTHING to do with the fighting, and to top it off, Miami, is a VERY big place with so much going for it, but of course, these guys just wanted a Negative, Headliner, so they got the story that they were looking for.
  17. The technology seems impressive, but who knows what will happen to it once you have thousands of players in it. Eve is planning an upgrade which will allow walking on stations, and eventually landing on planets and building communities there and so forth. Who knows, maybe EVE will buy the technology from these guys to speed that process along, it's not like there's THAT big of a demand for another Space MMO. One of the problems that I see with this though, is that they're talking about Billions of planets and Millions of systems, well EVE already has thousands of systems and most of them are deserted. You only see maybe 1 to 10 people in local in about 95% of the systems. There are very few systems like Jita that has 5-700 people at a time, and usually when it's over 600, it's a lag fest. At any rate, with THAT many systems, there will definitely be a social problem in the game, with not enough people congregating in one place. MMO Games are social events, with the game garnering the most player interaction being the one that wins, and I just don't see how a game with Billions of points of interest would reach any kind of critical mass.

So Bush gets whacked over the head for taking down a despotic leader that was killing hundreds of thousands of his own people, he was WAY TOO confrontational, that "Dammed Cowboy". But now, with China, we're being "too lenient". Hmm. I wonder which side of thier mouth their going to be talking out of tomorow.
  19. And of course, Jessica Alba is in it...

  21. quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: .... I swear... North Korea WANTS a war from what I can see, this is the reason why a nuclear disarmament was agreed upon by the major powers of the world .... Actually, China is now backing out of anything with real teeth in it, and the Russian's are following suit. This my friends, is what happens when the US loses it's resolve to DO SOMETHING about despotic regines that threaten the world. Back in 1950, after N. Korea invaded S. Korea and started the Korean War, MacArthur asked Truman to allow him to use 26 Tactical Nuclear Bombs, to force the N. Koreans to end the war. Instead, Truman replaced him with General Matthew Ridgeway. Ridgeway made the same request, but it was denied. Eventually, we fought them back to the line and were satisified at that, instead of destroying an overly aggressive governement. Back then, just as today, everyone said we should give up, it's not our problem, it's a half a world away, leave the Despot alone, Make peace not war, blah, blah, blah... The Result? We lost our resolve, we stayed with the Status Quo, and today we have North Korea threatening us with Nuclear Weapons. Nice. I'm Sure Kim-Jung Mentally-Il will be releasing a statement THANKING all the peaceniks in the US for Helping him and his father out.
