  1. I get the impression that you missed my point. If you can't find your drones within 5 seconds after you pressed alt+s and "observe" (asuming your pc cooperates), then it is time to use the forum's search function. Wink as in: "this is a tip" (try "finding drones" as search criteria)
  2. Used the same link as you but it still doesn't work. Sadly, I'll have to wait on #50.
  3. I've spend so much time on looking for the answer to the original question, that I don't want to be given the answer anymore. During my search for one answer (which I still don't have), I came up with 23 additional questions. Of those additional questions I've so far managed to answer 8. These 8 answers have given me more information about how my ship works and doesn't work. The list, stating the things the SR-setting doesn't influence, is getting longer and longer. One day, the answer will reveil itself. It's fun, trying to manipulate this game in such a way that it reveils a clue to the answer of your question to you. You can ask Derek but, unlike himself, his game will always give you an answer. And SC, if you do want to give the answer. Is it possible for you to write it on the surface of a planet somewhere in SP, where somebody could find it eventually?
  4. Tigerclaw, it's time for you to use "search" if you have trouble finding your drones back. Cruis, you've got mail about the "cheat".
  5. quote: Originally posted by Dennymale: it can be very useful to recognise who's talking I can relate to that. It's easy to distinguish between the European players (italian-english; finnish-english; dutch-english and even english-english)but it turns out to be a lot more difficult to distinguish between the players with an American (US) accent (at least for me). Papi, does the overlay have enough room to fit three players (maybe 4 when Remo joins the channel)(for mp matches) and still be above the TLM? And I would like to know the exact link to the source of directx you used. Thanx.
  6. quote: secondly I can't hear myself take hits against the ship either, no sounds for that? You should be able to hear a thumping sound when your armour takes hits (I'm not entirely certain whether the shield makes any noise). It's not an overwelming sound, it's the kind of noise one would expect if some-one is stamping the floor in the corridor behind the bridge.
  7. quote: as for the link to my profile in my signature? no.. i won't be adding one.. you see you can get to that page by clicking on the little icon that says "profile" next to the posters name. What Tigerclaw was trying to tell you (in his own way) is that you should add a "system profile information"-link in your signature. This is not the same as "profile". For your urgent message: The message above the line where it says you had a urgent message, is the urgent message. In your case it was a message you already read, but it is send after you anyway, so you won't forget.
  8. Tried your direct link Cruis and had a look at the link from Chaviks Avatar. You have "j2.jpg" and all the other avatars are ".gif" Try this one
  9. There is a new alpha version of TSO (from aug 23) which has the option to choose whether you want the overlay to appear left-center or right-center. Right-center would place it just above the TLM, I guess. Unfortunately, there is a problem for TSO to recognize all the versions of directx 9b and 9c. According to the forum, TSO won't work if it doesn't know your particular version of directx; they are still working on it. For me it doesn't work yet but it could work for you.
  10. special thanks for "CTRL+T", SC. Was kinda missing that functionality.
  11. Just copying behaviour of previous poll. (It does create an exessive amount of virtual empty posts. It just shows who voted on something and with what reaction-time. Compare the results of several polls and you can get an idea of activity)
  12. quote: Awwww.. you make me all melt over here, Dready! That last sentence makes up for all the nonsense you have put above it! That last sentence was the editing I did on that post. I added it because I realised that I always say:"Thanx for the ride, Later" (in Dutch: "Bedankt voor de lift. Mazzel") to the pilot just before I jump out. I wanted to bring across that I don't look down on pilots. Actually "getting pilot-license" is on my to-do list but I'm afraid its gonna have to wait until my retirement or untill my medical condition doesn't allow me to jump anymore. I'm not experienced enough to try base-jumping yet. I need your help I think, because I can't find the nonsense you are refering to. But since you forced me to think about it again, I thought of another reason why SD's think they are more into flying than the average pilot. This has to do with being in the air and feeling the air (and clouds and rain etc). Most pilots like flying in the air, they say, but at the same time they go through all sorts of trouble to make sure the air does not reach them (they build a cockpit around them to keep it out (sometimes even with A/C!)). Without feeling the air, you experience "flying" only in a reduced form. Hang-glider pilots and pilots of open cockpit planes would know about this. As an afterthought: Maybe I should have put the sentence: "Wouldn't you agree that you would have more control than you have now?" in the post just before: "That is one reason why SD's...." in order to help you understand the point I was trying to make. Somewhere along the line I get the impression that you don't like it when I call myself pilot. Why is that? Because of a dictionary? Well, half the terms we use in the sport are not in the dictionary (yet) but that's probably because skydivers usually don't write dictionaries. I suggest that you look in that book again though (or buy a new one) because it clearly states that I am a pilot. I will forget about that throat thing. OK? And freak. And cocky. And birds. quote: Originally posted by Cc: Good...two Dutchmen arguing. That mean there's hope for the rest of us. Sorry, I just don't get it. Am I missing something? And if "Yes" then what is it, please.
  13. quote: Sky Divers are just lamers out for the kick, they don't care about the finer things of flight... The adrenalin only counts. Adrenalin is nice but the real joy is controlling your body in freefall. These are the finer things of flight. Imagine, Mordax, that you were given a plane that would have all the usual controls plus some extra controls which let you change the size of your wings and their location and let you change the size and form of your fuselage (And by this I don't mean using your trim options)(think F14 for changing the wings). If you would want to bank to the right, you would simply retract your entire right wing a bit (and extend your left wing to compensate for the loss of lift). This is one reason that skydivers think that they are more of a pilot. Because they not only control the direction and attitude of the plane (their body) but also its entire shape. In flight, I'm able to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles/hour (just horizontal speed) in less than 3 seconds (my true airspeed would go to around 180 miles/hour). To give you an idea of manoeuvrability. There are a lot of cocky skydivers in the world and I hope I'm not one of them. Generally they appear cocky because they can't explain what the fun is about skydiving, to some-one who doesn't have the experience. After several tries they give up and don't answer or even talk to non-skydivers about skydiving. A minute after I leave the plane, I will try to open my parachute. This usually works and now I have a wing above me (again I'm a pilot). A flexible wing that allows me, once again, to control its attitude and shape (although this time more limited). The engine I use for getting my airspeed is called gravity. But I will not forget that I need a friendly, helpfull pilot to get me up there. [ 08-30-2004, 09:24 AM: Message edited by: dreadx ]
  14. By the wind? So nobody can fly when there's no wind? I just go (down) with: "To move or be sent through the air with great speed" And there is no such thing as a perfectly good airplane. So if some-one opens the door, I jump out.
  15. King, the single answer to almost all your questions: Use the forum's search engine.
  16. Do you have any idea how difficult to learn the "going up" part is? Believe me, I do try. LOL quote: fly1 [ fl ] v. flew [ fl ], flown [ fln ], fly┬Àing, flies [ flz ] v. intr. 17. Ooops. Just went through my pm's to make some space. Found this: quote: pm cruis -> me: hey dread, one day soon I hope to be back. in the meantime my ship is a bc Mk2. say hi to everyone for me. That was 07/28/04. So eehh, "hi" to everyone from cruis.
  18. Twenty-five hours of sun-bathing didn't do me any good. x = 0 quote: Originally posted by Street: Yes, Could you elaborate on that and finnish the sentence, please? [ 08-27-2004, 12:37 PM: Message edited by: dreadx ]
  19. Thanx, Wolfrez. But it's better for our recruits to receive training than to give it. We would rather rely on the Gammulans for now, to make the recruits break a sweat.
  20. Flying is the most beautiful thing on earth. I agree but if you call "piloting a plane" the same as "flying" than "piloting a boat" would be "swimming". To fly, you must get out of the plane first. Skydivers know why birds sing!
  21. Will be available for the test on Sunday.
