  1. NEW YORK (Reuters) - Viacom Inc.'s Paramount Pictures unit is ending its 14-year relationship with Tom Cruise's film production company because of the actor's offscreen behavior, the company's chairman said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. Frankly, I'm glad. I never did like him anyway.
  2. They may find themselves in a hopeless situation with insurance companies but armed with this knowlege, they should have no trouble in sueing the pants off the lock company. This whole thing is really scarey.
  3. quote:Originally posted by Grayfox: IMHO i think he copped to it just to get out of the punishment he would of recieved in thailand... our justice system is kids play compared to what they do over there. think about it... where would you rather do time if you had a choice??? here or over there? id take our cakewalk system in a heartbeat... if it turns out that he lied, he can still do time here for obstruction, impeding an investigation etc... Personally, I'm leaning more towards he's full of BS. You are probably right about all of your other comments because I thought it myself. However, like you said, if he lied, he will get jail time or be committed for insanity. He will come out of all this with a book a deal and millions of bucks because there are idiots out there that would buy the book.
  4. LONDON, England (CNN) -- The lawyer for two of the suspects rounded up in a possible plot to bring down as many as 10 trans-Atlantic flights on Saturday criticized their treatment at the hands of British police. These folks were going to kill themselves and many others with them and they are going to sit there and complain about their treatment.
  5. quote:Originally posted by Spindoktor: It seems to transition from space to the planet's surface way too fast. And the music doesn't fit. But interesting nonetheless. I agree. Way too fast. But I guess it's a good start for them. I didn't think the outer space view of the planet was all that spectacular either. Looks like every other space sim in that respects. I also found the space station far too shiny. Still, for real time render not bad at all.
  6. quote:Originally posted by Prez: This isn't based on a 1994 360 degree first person shooter from Parallax Software and Interplay, is it? Funny, I was thinking the same thing when I first saw the trailer for this movie. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: 4/10?!? Thanks Scriv!!! I'm so there!! Pity that. I was going to see it for the gore. Won't bother now.
  7. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Muslim groups criticized President Bush calling a foiled plot to blow up airplanes part of a "war with Islamic fascists," saying the term could inflame anti-Muslim tensions boo hoo.
  8. quote:Originally posted by Chavik: quote:Sy Schlueter, chief executive of investment house Copernicus in Hamburg, said Wal-Mart had trouble winning over German consumers, who tend to be very price-focused and would rather drive to a different store if they know they can buy something cheaper. National discounters such as Lidl GmbH and Aldi Einkauf GmbH put the heat on Wal-Mart's sales, he said, by offering the same products at competitive prices. From the article. I rarely do Wally World. They are not that competitive. Oh, silly me. I've read so many things since then I've forgoten about that part. Anyway, wallmart got a taste of it's own medicine what they've pulled here to local stores. Once they've wiped everyone out and are the only kids on the block, I'm sure they plan on raising their prices too.
  9. quote:Originally posted by Cruis. In: and you forget we are star trek fans as well as BC. The game might not neccessarily have attracted any of us, but the name, i know for sure were it some other unknown franchise i wouldn't be looking at it. I'm a fan of anything space related. Freespace, BC/UC, Star Trek, Star Wars, X series, Wing Commander, Space Quest etc... Well, as long as it is done well.
  10. quote:Originally posted by Cruis. In: well this is more just pure arcade stuff than sim. I am looking forward to legacy, but it'll last what? 9 hours of gameplay? if multiplayer is great then yeh, but i get bored of ordinary multiplayer after a while. I still play the instant action in klingon academy. I've never gotten bored of that.
  11. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Looks like space sims are in again? I've never given up hope. Much like the adventure genre. I know that too will be back.
  12. I saw a review from Jeffrey Lyons and he said that the movie was good for the first half and just plane silly the second because of the creatures. He did say he really enjoyed the first half of movie where the real fear was claustrophobia. Also turns out this was released in england a year ago and the ending had a much darker ending for the european audience. They gave it an upbeat ending for us American audiences. I hate it when they do that.
  13. Ugh, I must be losing it. I never gave the Mel Gibson and the shooting any connection. I even knew they were down playing the whole shooting thing and over blowing the Mel Gibson incident. Where was the jewish condemntations with the shooting?
  14. Between the issue of their customer service and trying to cancel accounts coupled with the fact that they are so far behing everyone else with the internet and now this: quote: NEW YORK - AOL released the Internet search terms that more than 650,000 of its subscribers entered over a three-month period and admitted Monday that what it originally intended as a gesture to researchers amounted to a privacy breach and a mistake.http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060807/ap_on_..._search_privacy
  15. quote:Originally posted by aramike: I'm gonna laugh when the Germans begin seeing their prices increase as a result of this move. I dunno if the prices were that competitive with wallmart or else one would think like americans, they'd flock to the store.
  16. quote:Originally posted by Remo Williams: That cartwheel was very controled the advances their making are awesome indeed. 17. About bloody time. This should have been the policy from the getgo. WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The United States has imposed sanctions against seven companies from Russia, North Korea, India and Cuba for arms deals with Iran, State Department officials said Friday. ------------------------------------------------------------- "Syria is determined to continue rearming Hezbollah and supply it with weaponry used to attack Israel," said an IDF statement. "The IDF is determined to stop this flow of arms to Hezbollah. The attacks on the bridge last night, which connect Syria and Lebanon, were to this end." ------------------------------------------------------------ JERUSALEM - Hezbollah's sophisticated anti-tank missiles are perhaps the guerrilla group's deadliest weapon in Lebanon fighting, with their ability to pierce. Experts say this is further evidence that Israel is facing a well-equipped army in this war, not a ragtag militia. Hezbollah has fired Russian-made Metis-M anti-tank missiles and owns European-made Milan missiles, the army confirmed on Friday.
  18. quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: And by raising cigarette taxes, do they think that they are going to have the money for healthcare, AFTER they pay for the enforcement. The black market in cigarettes is going to ferocious.. That's if it even makes it anywhere near a healthcare fund. More like it'll be siphoned off for something else. NY has done it in one instance to pay for an upscale golf course upstate.
  19. SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Likely voters in California are overwhelmingly supporting measures on a November ballot that would raise taxes on cigarettes and oil producers, the Field Poll reported on Wednesday. Sixty-three percent would vote for Proposition 86, which seeks to impose an additional $2.60 tax on a pack of cigarettes to fund health programs, while 32 percent would not and 5 percent are undecided, according to the Field Poll's report.
  20. LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- Batman is heading into a sequel, titled "The Dark Knight," and he will face off against the Joker, this time played by Heath Ledger.
  21. Haha, I wouldn't want to have to explain that in the ER.
  22. I love DIY. Nothing gives one more satisfaction than creating something with one's own two hands and at least for now I don't need to worry about the WAF (wife acceptance factor) so mine can look just like the millennium falcon for all I care. Waf. That made me chuckle.
  23. quote:Originally posted by Tac: 1: I came to the conclusion that we are facing a neurosis at the level of an entire civilization. Most neuroses have in common a dramatic event, generally linked to an unacceptable sexual behavior. In this case, we are talking of kids living all their lives in pure frustration, with no opportunity to experience sex, love, tenderness or even understanding from the opposite sex. The separation between men and women in Islam is absolute. So is contempt toward women, who are totally dominated by men. This leads to a situation of pure anxiety, in which normal behavior is not possible. It is no coincidence that suicide killers are mostly young men dominated subconsciously by an overwhelming libido that they not only cannot satisfy but are afraid of, as if it is the work of the devil. Since Islam describes heaven as a place where everything on earth will finally be allowed, and promises 72 virgins to those frustrated kids, killing others and killing themselves to reach this redemption becomes their only solution. What role does the U.N. play in the terrorist equation? 2: The UN is in the hands of Arab countries and third world or ex-communists countries. Their hands are tied. The UN has condemned Israel more than any other country in the world, including the regime of Castro, Idi Amin or Kaddahfi. By behaving this way, the UN leaves a door open by not openly condemning terrorist organizations. In addition, through UNRWA, the UN is directly tied to terror organizations such as Hamas, representing 65 percent of their apparatus in the so-called Palestinian refugee camps. As a support to Arab countries, the UN has maintained Palestinians in camps with the hope to "return" into Israel for more than 50 years, therefore making it impossible to settle those populations, which still live in deplorable conditions. Four-hundred million dollars are spent every year, mainly financed by U.S. taxes, to support 23,000 employees of UNRWA, many of whom belong to terrorist organizations (see Congressman Eric Cantor on this subject, and in my film "Hostages of Hatred"). How can we put an end to the madness of suicide bombings and terrorism in general? 3: Stop being politically correct and stop believe that this culture is a victim of ours. Radical Islamism today is nothing but a new form of ****sm. Nobody was trying to justify or excuse Hitler in the 1930s. We had to defeat him in order to make peace one day with the German people. 1: Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar (Sigmund Freud). How does one explain the millions and millions of muslims that come from the same background that go on to lead a peaceful life. It all boils down to the individual and how that person is wired in the head. I liken these car bombers to the serial killers we have in our western culture. 2: The U.N. is a total lame duck. It's been around too long and it's just another institution infiltrated by geed and special interests. 3: Why did you censor the word Nazism?
