  1. Man, since this thread has popped up, I've been abscessed with F4 and the modding!!! Sheesh, I haven't played BCM in ages! quoting last post: "Instead F4 is "suspended". Atari won't "free" it and the community can only do data edits." That hasn't been determined yet HRose. The community development groups have been in negations with Atari about editing the EXE, especially BMS, and there haven't been any concrete answers yet, it's all just word of mouth right now...So no body knows... We're just waiting... Everyone is keeping their fingers crossed. For all of you following along, I personally would love to see the next installment of BMS!!! This game kicks ass!!!
  2. Black & White is a sweet, sweet game... I dont know what your talkin about DeepFreeze.
  3. Is there anyway you can scan the review and upload it?
  4. I'm all right StarRider, I have a pretty ok BCM file set at the moment. But they're probably others who may need one. Boy oh boy people, GC2 is absolutely amazing! I'll admit, it doesn't work well for some games but almost EVERY flight sim I've encountered it's worked perfectly. No ifs, ands, or buts! This puppy works like a dream when it comes to those games! When it came to ordering my wingmen to "engage" or "cover me", or to "roll in" every command all worked flawlessly! As you can see, radio commands are the best with this tool. No more of the typically hit Tab -> 2-> 6 -> 8 sequences just to send your guys to do something like "engage bombers". With GC2 you can simplify these complicated keystrokes into one easy word or small phrase! And everyone, who's ever played combat flight sim, knows you don't want to be fussing with so many foolish and tedious keystrokes at the heat of the moment. Another cool feature to GC2 is setting a specific WAV file to indicate confirmation for each verbal command. To put it simply: When you say a command, a sound is followed by afterward. What I like doing for radio commands is setting a cool radio dismal sound after each verbal phrase. "Attack my target" and then "SHHZT..CLICK" instantly afterward. It really makes me feel like I'm talking to my AI wingman and not just talking by myself in a small dark room at 1:30am. I could go on an on bout this tool, but I'll just leave it at that. And for people, who are having problems, just stick with it. I find IT DOES work as advertised, 95% of the time.
  5. We're one our way to killing ourselves someday, just like in the Animatrix. Wow, I wouldn't want a 800lb domestic robot around my kids. Science fiction is becoming science fact. Food for thought everyone...
  6. Is Falcon 4 free now? The full game? "...to modify the Falcon 4.0 source code and to provide a free of charge, free to download executable to the community." I read that from one of the F4 sites. Maybe I read it wrong... Would I still need the old CD, or do I just install the SP4 file and BMS 1.03 and that's it.
  7. Woah, wait a second..... UC:E2E? Sorry to sway everything off the issue here, but I'd like a little more information on something which was posted by SC in this topic. Alright, what's UC:E2E people? I typed it in the forum search fields and nothing, besides from this discussion, came up. Is it the next addition of the series!?
  8. man... it really feels like this guy only took an hour or so just playing the game and then got fed up, because he didn't read the manual, and went right into writing the review.. He didn't even include his own screenshots, he just ended up using the ones that were sent out months ago. Most reviewers use their own screenshots. It's a shame this guy has no brain...
  9. quote:Originally posted by Mrxknown: Well I guess we'll wait for GBS-IV! haha, NOT funny! that would probably be another 2 years pal...
  10. haha, if you had the GBSIII utility, you wouldn't need to extra scenarios. You'd make em urself...
  11. LOL, I'm freaking too... *wonders how the big man will reply*
  12. quote:Originally posted by Cmdr_ Laracuente: hey, i was annoyed as hell by that too but you've got to understand the rush UC had and the Dreamcrusher publishers that tried to f*** up the SC down to his very last breath. Remember there was a 99% of these tools being released on the cd but the above reasons f***ed that and some other things if i remember correctly. But it's not like these tools were not developed or anything. The GBS III tool is fully functional, and wasn't under developed because of the whole "rush fiasco". From my recollection, it was already operating even before the name change. It just never got released on the cd, no problem.. SC could easily have it as a download link then. To say it was because of this whole dreamcatcher is stuff is just nonsense... It's sitting, ready to go on SC's hard drive.
  13. Did SC just say that he WASN'T going to release GBS III!? Because if so, I think I'm going to rant for a bit... He has been constantly updating the product info to reflect how the game will be on release, and in each and every case, the 'NEW! GBS-III mission builder' has always remained!!! Now he saying he's not even going to bother!!!?!? It's been an entire year or so, and he's saying NOW that he's not going to release it!?!? That is just mean!! plain and simple! I thought there was at least, some sort of commitment to us this time. He didn't release GBS II. This was because of fear from potential n00bie posts asking how to use the damn thing (oh, how scary!). I know it would probably suck answering all those silly posts, the work the extra effort, but you should always expect some morons here and there when something complicated like that comes along. And nobody says you have to answer them, let the beta people help them out or anyone else. This community shouldn't be entirely depended on you when it comes to tech support. And people should stop thinking that, it probably costs a lot of us GBS III. MAN! Many people wanted to enhance their BC experience during BCM, and couldn't, because of those idiots! We get shafted back then, and now we're getting shafted again. I've been waiting for this tool since the stone ages and it's all I've looked forward to when it came to this game, and it gets revoked, simple as that. It's easy, if you want a modding community that keeps the longevity of the game game, you have to release the mod tools! Arg... ok, I'm done. You can now flame me...
  14. I'd say every Canadian beer would probably be my preference... ARRRR!!! I AM CANADIAN!! Hear my drunken roar!!! And also, any forgien beer is illegal acording to the Canadian doctrine of 1790. To this very day, Citizens of the Dominan of Canada are not allowed to drink imported alcoholic beverages that are native to our lands. [ 02-11-2004, 09:00 AM: Message edited by: Extinct_Reptilia ]

Only registered users can submit text reviews. Reader reviews must be at least 100 words in length to be published. That's probably it. The only review long enough to be posted also had a 10.0 score. Yeah, because if you notice there are about 13 Ratings, and only one of them is a text review. The others must of just selected some drop menu score or something real quick, and that was it...
  16. quote:Originally posted by Scarlek: The combat is exciting, well paced and most importantly...great when your ship is severely damaged and you still win the fight. (I.e. Nuclear core issues) Would you say that the space combat is better than previous BC games? The best?
  17. Alright I'm a tad confused here... Did SC win and is he changing it to the original price, $39.99?
  18. If we did create this paypal UC collection pot, could it help contribute to the resources for better game support? Just an ideaer...
  19. quote:Originally posted by LostInSpace: I dunno, I think he rather looks like a NEO of the Matrix from an alternate dimension. Neo from the Matrix! Where are u seeing that!? You're freaking crazy man.... He looks like a turnip or something? Sort of like the onions you'd pick up in Mario 2... See, he's got the dopey smile and everything...
  20. quote:Originally posted by dreadx: I like it a lot. As for Goatman455, this is how I read ur first post. "So, what does everyone think of BCMG?" Good question, although I think that the ppl posting here generally like the game. Does he really want to know what I'm thinking? "It seems cool, " You don't say it IS cool so you probably have some comments (my brain instantly remembers the odd feeling it had reading the question). "but suffers from the same problems as BC3000ad," can I get some proof of this, cause I know it is not true, and so should you! "mainly, steep learning curve." This is not a problem but a necessity for an interesting game. At this point I stopped taking you serious. "I do applaud the idea though, this is the ultimate space-fleet simulator." I agree and I don't mind the use of "fleet" cause you're not playing untill you try to fight for yourself while controlling 4 other cruisers as well. "I hope Derek will keep the game evolving," In regard of the problems you mentioned I find this an odd comment. In fact you come close to contradicting yourself. "because somewhere burried in this material is an all-time classic." Me personally I see this game as a tree, planted in the 80' and it's still growing and getting more and more branches. Once in a while a snapshot is taken and you can take an image of the tree home with you. The tree grows (due to Derek's gardening skills) and a year of what later, you buy another snapshot of the same tree but now it's stronger and bigger with an extra branch and some more leaves. The result of this train of thought is that I think you as a person who does not think before he speaks. And my respect for you goes free-fall. Hence you get less than nice replies. That's kind of harsh, dont u think?
  21. its sort of like in homeworld... That would be kind of cool...
  22. quote:Originally posted by Aphelion7: Supposedly going to be in Battlecruiser Online last I heard... Kinda depressing it was canned 'till then! yah, that feature should have been in the game ages ago... Its a great notion... Hmmmmmm... does anyone know if BCO is going to have the single player option that we all know and love, free roam? Or is the whole game just going to be online, end of story...
  23. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: quote:Originally posted by DeepFreeze: Oh, and it would be pretty neat if the AI fought large scale battles on their own, instead of those little 2-ship skirmishes that happen all over. But thats about it. He's not playing the same game as us, is he folks? What do you mean? Are you saying there is large scale AI battles in BCM? Because I think I'm going to have to agree with DeepFreeze here. I seem to only find little skirmishes here and there too, nothing huge. The AI seems to never fight in large scale battles on its own or with out player provocation. I've never dropped into a sector to see a huge battle waging by itself, only a little scuffle between a small number of ships at best. So yah, maybe I'm just missing those big ones, I dont know... Has anyone experienced this?
