  1. mentis, Read this thread and it will tell you how to solve this problem.... http://www.3000ad.com/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cg...c;f=27;t=000135
  2. Yeah I just rented Near Dark a few weeks ago. Hadn't seen it since it first came out. TD does a lot of soundtracks. Thief, Sorcerer, and Near Dark are my favorite sound tracks that they did. Some of the stuff they did in the 70's makes great space music.
  3. I've replaced my with a bunch of Tangerine Dream.
  4. The option to swap is only for joysticks that don't have a twist axis. There is a command line parameter ( -j ) that is supposed to allow you to do it with any joystick, but I haven't been able to get it to work. From FAQ... "-j : ignore joystick rudder/twist axis and permit use of CTRL+J axis toggle"
  5. quote:If there is no UCCONFIG.INI, the game won't start. However the FAQ does say this... quote:Q. HOW DO I REVERT TO THE DEFAULT GAME CONFIGURATION SETTINGS? A. Quit UC and use Explorer to delete the UCCONFIG.INI file which resides in the folder where the game is installed. The game will create a new one at startup. You can then go to CONFIG and change the settings as desired. So maybe no UCCONFIG.INI is just a consequence of the game not starting. Anyway I have deleted my unconfig.ini and UC subsequently started just fine. Here is a link to a thread where someone experienced and fixed the same (or similar) problem. In his case I believe he put the CD in the drive he didn't install from. Although I've tried that on my computer and it worked fine. http://dreamcatcherinteractive.com/forums/...&threadid=14963
  6. Thanx, that works fine. I'm printing in landscape.
  7. quote:What can i say i messed up should have patched first!Hey! That wasn't a week.
  8. Any chance that this document is going to be converted to have a white background? It would take $50 worth of ink or toner to print it as it is. As a alternative, does anyone know what Kinkos charges to print it?
  9. I had the same thing happen to me (non-textured AE). But I haven't been able to reproduce the problem. I haven't changed or updated anything, so if it happens again I'll try to figure out how to reproduce it.
  10. Well you could try searching google for MusicMatch, or you could try www.musicmatch.com. There is a free version.
  11. Works now! It seems that my tags were v1.1 after I did the "xfer v2. -> v1.". I removed them and then did a "Filename -> V1 tag" operation. Thanx for the help Gordon.
  12. I still can't get it to work. Here's what I did... 1) Convert file from audio CD at 256kbps CBR with MusicMatch. 2) Use ID3-Tagit and select my file in the middile window. 3) Use the menu option Transfer/Convert Tags. 4) Select Transfer V2. -> V1. 5) File/Save 6) Put in soundfx/music folder. I removed all of the audio files except this one. When I play UC I get no audio. I couldn't tell in ID3-Tagit where to actually see the version of the tag in the mp3.
  13. I tried that at both 128kbps and 256kbps (which is what the stock files are), but no joy. Has anyone been able to create mp3s compatible with UC?
  14. I'm using Musicmatch and encoding MP3 files at 128kbps, but they won't play in UC. Just wondered what encoder people who have been successful have been using.
  15. It appears that the enemy is invulnerable until a certain amount of time has elapsed. Neither guns nor missiles will damage them for the first X (not sure yet) number of minutes.
  16. After replaying IA0101 a couple more times I should modify my previous post. Previously I managed to kill the MK1 with 2 missiles. I will have to say I got lucky. Getting the missiles to hit the target is a bit trickier that it seemed at first. The missiles don't turn fast enough to catch a target in a bank. So it takes a bit of work to hit them. Also I previously stated that the guns have no effect. They do take down shields, but do not damage the ship.
  17. I played a different IA mission with the Warmonger and the tracers were much more visible. I could see that they do visually curve when firing in a bank. Also I noticed that your gun convergence automatically adapts to target range. Nice.
  18. I've noticed that when firing my gun at the lead angle indicator the tracers seem to disappear directly into a straight path towards the indicator. Or more accurately straight out of the reticle. May of the combat episodes involve banking dogfights and the indicator is frequently displaced away from the target as you would expect. However this leads to visual feedback that is confusing. You would normally expect that the tracer (or whatever the visual represents) would curve toward the target. And a properly placed shot would eventually end up with the tracer impacting the target. So I guess the question is.. does the tracer actually visually curve toward the target in a banking dogfight? Or does it visually continue along the line of sight. BTW, I'm playing UC on an HDTV at 720x540 resolution so it is possible that it is just visually disappearing on my display because of the lower resolution. Any comments on this are appreciated.
  19. OK, I just tried the IA101 scenario. I had no problem killing the Intercepter MK1 with two missiles. However at point blank range my guns were completely ineffective after a considerable amount of combat. So my question is.... Was this scenario designed specifically so that the guns do no damage? Or is this particular gun not supposed to have an effect on the MK1? BTW, this is the standard non patched release.
