  1. I know, sad...still at #2! After many hours of practice, and diligently listening to orders, I was able to take everyone out, including the cap ship. But then, after the dust cleared, Echo 3 and 4 were dead in the water (err...space). Is there anyway I can fix these guys? Also, I'm a little confused on whether I'm supposed to be able to give all of Echo squad orders. For example, on mission two, I can order Echo 2 and 3 (I think, I may have the numbers mixed). So, I ordered Echo 3 to escort Echo 2 (and Echo 2 to escort me Echo 00). As soon as I did that, I was unable to give further orders to Echo 3. The other two Echo wingmen never took orders from me. Surprisingly, after a bit of practice, I no longer needed to use missiles on any fighter to take it down. So, I just save the missiles for the big ships.
  2. So...anyone complete mission 2? I'm a little lost on this one. I get to Neptune and...all hell seems to break loose. Then, more hell (lot's of fighters) then time seems to run out. Anyone have any tips on this mission?
  3. Okay, I swapped the yaw/roll as suggested. Now, the craft correctly yaws to the left when the stick is pushed left, and yaws to the right when the stick is pushed right. However, when I rotate the stick left the craft rotates clockwise and vice versa. Hmm . Anyway, the game is now much more playable now. Thanks SC!
  4. Okay, I have UCAWA. I tried it with the SW2 stick and it worked perfectly. I think you might have nailed the problem. Is there anything I can do?
  5. Done - Support ticket filed yesturday. I also tried deleting the game_config.ini file and creating a new profile, but the problem persisted. By the way, thanks again for looking into this, and please, please, never cave in to those rediculous game reviewers who always seem to trash games that buck their limited sensibilities. Your games are different, and make you think. And that's always a good thing.
  6. Oh I've read the manual, and the tutorial, and everything that came with the game, and these forums. Believe me, when I post on this forum, I make sure I've read everything at my disposal to resolve the issue or question before I post. I've read what happens to those who ask ridiculous questions which are answered in the games documentation. In this instance, I initially had the pitch at about 20 degrees, which worked great until I reached about 11,000 ft. At this point, I lost lift. As the documentation says, I should expect lower performance at higher altitudes. Hence, I tried lowering the pitch. Lowering the pitch increased my velocity a bit, but I was still unable to reach the egress altitude. I also tried diving, and making small course corrections to try to reach an altitude that would enable me to exit the planet. Being fairly thorough, I tried another possible problem, which was possible damage to the craft. But, fighter was immaculate. Hence, alas, I'm ground bound...
  7. So, I flew to Earth during the tutorial...and got stuck there!!! It was raining (clouds look great!) and I couldn't for the life of me reach the required egress altitude. So, like any good pilot would, I flew down to the base and docked for repairs. But, after inspection, there was nothing wrong with the craft! So, I put back on my flight suit and tried again, but I still couldn't reach orbit! Any flight jockeys out there have any idea what might have happened?
  8. Okay, I checked the MS website and other sites, and it appears the drivers for the Sidewinder Precision 2 joystick are included in the XP operating system and have never been updated since. As an aside, when you plug this particular joystick into a system running XP, it is recognized and the driver installed automatically. I tested the joystick in the control panel and it works great. It also works with every other game I have. (I know, this doesn't really mean anything without me listing all the other games, but what the hell, I'll say it anyway ) Anyway, I guess since it works on your end, I may have some issue on my end. Anyone else out there want to test this? Here's the test: 1) press the left arrow key on the keyboard and note which way the craft rolls, then 2) press the joystick to left and note which way the craft rolls. Did the craft roll the same direction? Please let me know, I may have to scrap this fine joystick... Thanks!
  9. Thanks for the reply! I'm running version 2.10.06. The problem I'm having is that the craft rolls in the opposite direction of where the stick is pushed. That is, when I hold down the joystick to the left - I roll clockwise, and vice versa, as discussed above by hellfire64. This is opposite of what happens when I press the left arrow on the keyboard (i.e., left arrow rolls the craft counter clockwise). In the config screen I have the swap roll/yaw set to OFF. SHIFT doesn't seem to do anything, probably because I have a three axis joystick. Admittedly, it is an older joystick, however I've never had any trouble with it before. On the other hand, if no one else has encountered this problem with their controller, then it may be a problem on my end. I was just curious if others were having the same problem. You know, I don't get why people have a problem with this game. In my opinion, it looks better than any other sim and is much more accurate. Please, keep up the great work SC. I am, and will continue, to spread the word about 3000AD and raise the consciousness of gamers everywhere.
  10. Hi, Well, I just picked up Galactic Command - Echo Squad SE and updated to the 2.10.06 update. All I can say is...Wow! This game is great! Anyway, to stay on topic, I have a Microsoft SideWinder Precision 2 joystick that I have set to the default game configuration, i.e., roll/yaw are NOT switched. However, I noticed the roll is reversed as discussed above. The VFC for 2.10.05 said the gamepad roll was fixed. Also, there was mentioned of correcting mouse control when a joystick was plugged in the VFC for 2.10.06. I was just wondering if the joystick was still actually reversed in the game or if I am just having problems on my end. Thanks!
  11. Although SC's last comment appears to be final, I hope this thread is not yet closed. After logging into the 3000AD servers last night, we saw significant improvements on our end. It appears that when the servers are set to graphics, the planetside operations work very well. Although, when Matchoo and I logged onto Server 2, we both got kicked when he attempted planetfall while my AE was on the surface of the same planet (Procon). Thereafter, we did not see the server again on our server browser, so we logged onto Server 3. After seeing this, my friend and I attempted another LAN using the graphics server instead of the console server. There were no problems. However, every time we tried using the console server (doing the same operations as listed in the first post) the console server crashes. So, since the console server doesn't seem to work for us, I guess we'll just not play it, as suggested above. However, the graphics server requires more system resources from the server computer. But then again, the game is so much fun single player, who am I to complain. Thank you all for all your help. I've never seen this much response from any other company, especially from the game designer himself. Thanks again!
  12. Thanks for responding so fast DennyMala! Ok, just tried it again. Every time the AE is sent to SC1 and sent to Procon (regardless of mission zone), the server crashes. However, the client computer still runs the program for a while before receiving a message that the server is no longer connected. Are you running a LAN with separate server and client computers, wherein you can monitor the server when the AE shuttle enters the planet? I mention this because when we first got our copies of UCAWA we immediately logged onto the 3000AD servers. Every time we landed on a planet, we suddenly could not see each other. We knew where each other was located because we were on the phone together the whole time. We would then logout, and notice that the server we were just on was no longer listed. After awhile it would reappear. We thought at the time that 3000AD was turning on and off their servers, perhaps for maintenance. Anyway, we decided to try a LAN after that, which is when we had the problems discussed above. Hence, if this was tested in an environment where the server is not being monitored at the same time as the action is taking place, the client may not realize something happened to the server. We are both running version 1.00.08, which incidentally, was the version we downloaded from the e-commerce website. That is, we did not have to patch (however we ran the updater anyway). In addition, the UCAWA license for the server was purchased from Direct2Drive, while the client was purchased from Regnow. Anyway, thanks again for replying and helping out!
  13. I'm having trouble running a UCAWA LAN game. Whenever a client computer enters a planet mission zone with characters (such as Marines, or AE), the server crashes. For example, when running a LAN server, a player started using the MP default settings, starting in the Procon region. They then Hyperspaced to Procon (w/o entering Planetfall), loaded up SC1 with two marines, and sent it to Procon06/MP_SCENE_CITY02. Three waypoints were set: 1) about 3.5 km SE of the city, 2) just south of the barracks with the deploy team command, and 3) about 2.5 km SE of the city with the land command. The server crash occurred as soon as the marine team was deployed. During another session, the server crashed anytime the AE was sent to the planet in a shuttle. In particular, as soon as the AE's shuttle entered the Procon atmosphere (and the planetfall sequence started) the server crashed. (AE was sent to the same mission zone as above) These crashes were repeatable (at least on our LAN). I've read the forums, and thus realize that planetside operations are taxing on the server during MP sessions. We probably should just stay in space! BTW, the server is the one shown in my profile. We got these errors when testing the server for a LAN get together. In addition, although I know it is not officially supported, these same crashes also occurred when using the server and client on the same machine. Thanks, in advance, for any help you can give. Even if it's to say the error is not repeatable and it is our own fault! P.S. - just got UCAWA, are we supposed to update our profile to show the new game and new CD-Key?
  14. Makes sense. Thanks for the help.
  15. Howdy. I'm pretty new to BC3K and I've pretty much figured out everything I need to know about the game, except for the artifacts. I can't get the Celestial Orb to work. Any thoughts?
