  1. Looking good. For those who may not know there is an awesome iPhone app for IP Board sites that allows pretty much full board functionality on the iphone.
  2. It used to work with the fire button so apologies or missing it in the manual and many thanks for the reply.
  3. Just wondering if I'm missing something or do something wrong but for the life of me I can't use a grenade. Hand weapons are not an issue but if I hit 7 for a frag grenade (as an example) I can't deploy it. Left mouse button does nothing. Am I missing something? Cheers.
  4. Call me cynical but I can't see how they can do it well.... How can you have a MMO with only one battlestar? who gets to play viper pilots? Meh. it'll be a disaster.
  5. I have summarily executed an officer in the past... that was fun. However, last night I managed to out resnig Resnig.... I won't go into the list of mistakes that led to it but I ended up with a Raider blowing holes in the side of my shiny MkIII because I never had the shields up. Fortunately I managed to limp back for repairs and no one was killed....
  6. I was busy doing mining ops in a shuttle when a juicy insurgent LRT showed up near the Earth jumpgate so I sent my command ship off to take care of it and when in arrived in the vicinity of the LRT Resnig opened fire with the main guns for an awesome display of firepower........... of course, being Resnig he missed. totally. the LRT was even stationary!
  7. Whilst in orbit around Tramis and waiting for my mining drones I decided to take down some marines and raise hell out of an insurgent base. We beamed down next to the main communications dish and I ordered one of the marines to take out the dish whilst myself and the other marine gave covering fire, a few seconds later there is this MASSIVE explosion and the dish is a flaming mess, the marine in question had pulled out the biggest rocket launcher I'd ever seen. First time I've had to order a retreat because my ears were ringing.............
  8. Nor have I and I've been playing this version for many hours. I'd suspect the hard disk. A check disk and a defrag may well be in order.
  9. Data for all the vehicles is in the appendix.
  10. I tend to destroy ships with a final missile up the tail pipe from 20 or 30km.
  11. Ticket # 9374143-6613060742 Raised via the support trio system on June 13th 2009 at 07:34 with a png screenshot attached. Closed on July 9th with no resolution aside from the comment that "There is nothing to investigate because the devs can't fix what they can't reproduce." Sounds like it has been reproduced.
  12. I got this as well and raised a support ticket for it. Nothing came of it so I gave up with 2.0
  13. Does anyone visit the IRC channel? I've been there a few times and it's dead. Would be good to have a meet up in there to trade war stories one evening.
  14. -w replaces /w1 /w2 It's in one of the docs.
  15. Now to reveal my age (and see if any non-brits know this)... Blakes 7! Darker, Grittier than Star Trek and with a hero who was a computer pogrammer. Seriously cool (for the time) weapons and special effects.
  16. UCCE version 1 is rock solid for me and there is so much to do. I spent an interesting evening camped outside an insurgent base sniping at Insurgent EF marines until one sneaky so and so circled around behind me.
  17. My copy of UCCE arrived in the week and I've been waiting for the weekend to be able to spend some time exploring. Wow, The shield and hyperspace effects are amazing and still the NPC's have surprises. Waiting for my mining drones to do their work I parked my MkII BC off the Pluto jumppoint when an insurgent LRT pops into range, a few main cannon shots and there is wreckage, I don't think they even knew I was there, so sitting there feeling very pleased with myself ANOTHER LRT-15 jumps in (but this one is netural), clips the top of my ship damaging the PTA turret, sits there for a minute before jumping into Hyperspace......... Resnig thinks the navigation officer is his brother. All in all, it's a bloody good upgrade and I'm having some fun.
  18. hehe... I'll admit that something about UC just keeps drawing me back and I've only played a small part of it. I still remember the first time I landed a shuttle some distance from an enemy base and crept up on the base to enjoy some target practice or the time I lead an all out assault on a different base only to watch my fighter support fly into the ground due to low AI levels....... I've not played for a while but I think I will have to load it up again and fire up a new roam mode session..... The galaxy is calling!
  19. Thanks Shingen. I'm trying to show that there is a lot more going on just behind the scenes that you see in the game. I have most of the story in my head at the moment and it's a bit of a pain trying to get it down as sometimes bits just don't work out as I imagine they should. All good fun (Mostly!). Part 4 to come in the next few days.
  20. Hi Folks, Apologies for the lack of updates. Whilst my flu has gone I'm still not fully recovered and work has taken a big chunk of time. Any way part III, Part IV will follow in a week or so. **Part Three - One Day to Launch** There was fire all around him, The ship screamed. The ship was dying and she new it. Smoke clouded his vision. He knew he only had a few minutes before his pressure suit gave out under the extreme conditions. The ships fire suppresion had given up the hopeless fight a long time ago. He reached the sealed medical section and used a hand held reader. There was oxygen behind the door. He stood for a moment his suit felt heavy. He was tired, the cooling system of suit was close to collapse. The door suddenly opened and the fire fed by the oxygen rush exploded in his face... He awoke. It was dark. The air tasted different. He was alone. He remembered. "Lights - Dim" he called out. The lights in his cabin sprung on to half their normal brightness. It was still too much. Donald closed his eyes against the bright light and remembered that was he was on a ship. His ship. He slowly became accustomed to the light and eventually swung his legs out of bed. "Time" he barked. "07:15" the ships computer crisply responded. The senior staff were due at 08:00. It was traditional for the senior staff to meet up so the commander could go over what was expected from them. Donald always liked this part and would always combine it with breakfast. He sat there for a few moments with images of fire, smoke and flames going through his head. He hadn't had that dream for 18 months now. It was all connected to a rescue mission, in fact his last under his previous command. The science vessel Troy had been attacked on the way back to Earth. It was only blind luck his ship had appeared through the wormhole as the attacking insurgents were about to finish the job. It was very lucky timing for the Troy. The ship was so badly damaged that he had to send shuttles over to evacuate the crew. Macleod had insisted on being part of the rescue party. He had taken five weeks to physically recover from that day. Mentally, it was 18 months on and easier now but not gone, never gone. He stood up and walked into the head to get ready for what was sure to be a busy day. Macleod had only just finished getting everything ready when the door chime to his quauters beeped. He opended the door to see Paul Resnig standing there, Macleod and Resnig had served together many times before. In fact Macleod had twice recommended Resnig for promotion. "Paul!" he exclaimed, "Great to see you!". It had been Resnig that had pulled him out of the inferno. Macleod had never forgotten him for it. "Hello Sir, Good to see you in command again" "it IS good to be back Resnig, grab yourself some breakfast". Resnig went up to the food replicator and ordered himself a perfectly sensible cereal. As he sat down the door chime went again. This time standing at the door was Sandy crane, the ships communications officer and Allison Meeks, the chief medical officer. Again, Macleod waved them to the food relicator. by 08:00 the only person missing was lanna kasangi. Macleod sat down with a very unhealthy breakfast. "thanks for coming everyone. Now as you know we are down for a standard 3 month tour." The door chime went. "open" called macleod. The doors obeyed. Sorry IÔÇÖm late sir said lana. "What happened?" asked macleod. she looked down. "I got...... Lost sir". Macleod raised an eyebrow. "the ships navigation officer got lost?" he asked. "umm, it wasn't quite like that, Sir... They said docking 18, i thought they said 14 and well, i erm... I should shut up". Macleod laughed. "grab some breakfast. Over the next hour Macleod went over what he expected of all of them and what he expected of the departments. He knew most of them, he knew what they could do. They were good people. Eventually he brought the dicussion to a close. "OK, I need to pay the fleet commander a visit to collect our orders. We will meet in the conference lounge at 14:00". Everyone slowly filled out of the room. Macleod looked down at the dirty plates and cups. He picked them all up, shoved them into the food recycler, pressed a Button and watched them vanish. I HATE washing up he moaned.
  21. Yes, It's nearly done. Was going to finish and post on the weekend but had to fight flu instead Watch this space
  22. 1. You need to fix your sig 2. Cheats are dealt with in the manual, the appendix and VCF (you HAVE read all them?) 3. Don't sit around waiting for a tow, Analyze WHY you need a tow, what went wrong? Learn and try not to do it again.
  23. Giulian Ross, How do you 'play' real life? If you were the commander of a space vessel how would you do it? Ever pretend thst you are? Ever pretend that you have a ship and crew and that you can cruise around the galaxy? I do. and I play out those fantasises. You see, there is this game called Universal Combat that lets me do it. Let your imagination run wild.
