  1. other space sims like this? Um... Well, there's Battlecruiser v1 & 2... there Battlecruiser Mill. Gold, and there's Universal Combat. There isn't any game that does what this game does (I read the Gamespy review of BCM last week, and he even said that this game has everything!). As for other space sims, the ones I've enjoyed are the Freespace series & Star Trek: Klingon Academy (both for under $10 now). Neigther have as many features as this one (ST:KA has many, but you can only control a starship, no small craft or FPS). When you get the game, read the manual. Read it while using the bathroom, eating breakfast, going to bed (NOT while driving), and while playing the game. Then, read it 2-3 more times. Keep the keyboard shortcut card handy (and make a photocopy/scan it just incase you loose it).
  2. Sorry, I meant "online" as it wasn't in the physical manual (it says online in the manual though, refering to the htm file on your HD).
  3. I did the same thing when I got the game (the apendex in the book doesn't have all this stuff????) It's a big online file, and it's too bad it's not in hard copy so you can reference it while playing (i could print it out, but that would be a pain with all the pages)
  4. Yeah, that's the part I was thinking of (15.3). I thought Michael Slaunwhite was asking about server side saving. I belive he was refering to the way Trade Wars 2002 saved stats on the BBS comp (current sector, ship, etc). Then you'd come back & you would be where you left off (unless someone blew you up, or you got towed away).
  5. The BCMG manual specificly says that it won't hold your info between sessions. A bummer. That would of been cool (but probley not feasable at the time the game was made). Does US do this?
  6. when you try to tractor a ship that's sunk to the ocean floor... and you land next to it. (done that a couple times already!)
  7. I'd say the closet thing (that i've played) to BC is Star Trek: Klingon Academy. You can fly around the gallexy, fight random baddies, even capture stations/ships (by beaming marines over). No planet landing or FPS in it though (fightes don't make sence in the ST universe: there aren't any!). You can fly the ship, mess with systems, stuff like that. Neat game to play. But, unfortunitly there isn't any more complex in dept ST games anymore.
  8. I have found playing many, many instant action & training missions to learn the details of the games help. Plus you can expiriment (and find out that you can't transport people to a planet whlie in it's atmosphere!). But yes, read the manual (and keep it handy while playing.) ps: i'm a new player too. This is the coolest space game since tradwars that I ran on my BBS years ago.
  9. I had a problem when I started a MP game on my computer (even after a fresh install). Every time i'd click on one of the links it would do nothing. Ends up that in the shortcut, there was nothing in the "Start In" part. I entered my game folder ("C:games3000ADBattlecruiser Millennium Gold") and it worked. Doesn't sound like it was your problem, but maybe it will help someone else.
