  1. Ah, cool. Thanks SC, good lookin out. I'll make sure to get my hands on the patch.
  2. Hey thanks. No sweat, though, SC...I still suspect there was some kind of internal nonsense with my computer...the same nonsense that causes all of the ten million glitches this hunk of metal is famous for. Oh, a word to the wise about the Experience Points Technique (Which I see has already been plagerized to the Tips, Tricks, and Techniques section, lol) ... you may or may not run into this... The More bases you destroy, the smoldering rubble and smoke-stacks you will leave in your wake. By the time you've demolished 22000 in Exp, your frame-rate will diminish if you dont have a good system. It gets REALLY choppy the more you blow up. If this happens to you, leave the planet (Space will be fine) and land on another planet with Ter/Ins bases (i.e. The moon) and continue fragging. Happy Hunting, soldiers.
  3. When I looked at my Navitron, it had my location as ------... and when I started checking planets and jumpgates, (such as Procon), they belonged to my MP-Map in the docs file. Just fyi, I have since re-loaded the save just five minutes prior to the TOW-ship's arrival and it took me somewhere a tad closer this time.
  4. Well... In the process of battling here and there, I came to find one of the quickest ways to rack up enough experience points for a quick promotion (if you have three hours to kill), is to, as we say in South Philly, "Go ape sh-t" on all of the planetary bases in one reason. Simple principle... Land in a mission zone, and start flying from one Ter/Ins base(or city) to the next, demolishing everything that you can along the way. PTA every fighter that comes near you (the poor fools) and IOD every ground structure that poses a fire hazzard :-p. Before you know it, once you've decimated about 10-15 bases, BING! The points have racked up, at no greater cost than some time (you wont even spend too much Radine because hyperjumps arent necessary)... Now here is where it gets HILARIOUS! I took some damage after demolishing my 15th base, and decided enough was enough and maybe I should head back to GALCOM for some provisions and repairs, and fresh ATS missiles. "Flight Officer, please plot a course for Galcom and get us off this planet." "Aye Commander... UH OH!" "FO, what's that coming right at us?" "A mountain, sir!" "WARNING, DAMAGE." Everything but the kitchen sink has been dinged, scratched, and smashed. But I want to keep my experience points, so I elect to tough it out. Some time goes by and finally we get the ship flight-worthy (just enough to get off the ground.) With no other systems other than the engines and life support online, we're hauling butt for the sky... we get there... There's Galcom. "UNABLE TO ENGAGE HYPER DRIVE!" I look... The reactor is at 18%. Darn it. I open the compartment on the arm-rest of the Commander's chair and pull out the AAA-Assistance Card (aka: I request a TOW ship.) Two ship comes. I figure, "hey! We're only 7478k from Galcom, so the TOW won't be too expensive." The TOW begins and I go right to Logistix... the ten engineers and million$$$ in parts keeps me at the screen for over an hour. "Well, THAT was exciting." I log off logistix and leave the station... Hmmm.... funny... Why am I in the multiplayer universe? Navitron says I'm nowhere.... I'm going hunting for that darn TOW-ship pilot... I think he was drunk... Probably just my Piece of junk computer throwing in its two cents to cause a glitch... but I laughed myself silly after the whole ordeal.
  5. Would the game eventually assign you Fleet C&C if you racked up enough experience points? And does this apply to Mercenary Castes? Thanks, all. Perhaps Im too new at the game to have accomplished this as of yet. Just wondering what I can look forward to once I kill enough gammulans and criminals.
  6. My father was in Marine Force Recon. Needless to say, in his younger years, it was hard for him to go to a public place and IGNORE any snide comments thrown his way. WELL, the RF Marines on board by Megaron, I do believe, are the same way. Stay with me, this is silly. I'm roaming around for a few hours and the Fatigue alert sounds. I realize the region I'm in (Valkerie) isn't that friendly to Terrans who aren't insurgents, and as such I need to find a resting place. I dock at Starwind, and send my entire crew to OFF DUTY. This is hilarious. Instead of going to Troop Quarters, the Personnel Scan shows them all going to the shuttle bay. Coincidentally, after a few minutes, all of their life factors start to dip by a few points. Theory: We were docked at a star station, and the crew decided to check out the gift shop, and probably started brawling with a few locals from the Mercenary Caste on their way to the Starwind Saloon ;-) Yeah, I know, probably not what happened. But amusing all the same. I have to wonder, if Marines COULD fist fight while off-duty, would their AI points go up? lol.
  7. Uh oh! Okay, I just read the above-replies about posting things like that. Consider the above-post an accidental transgression. I'll be more careful from now on. But I STILL can't find the afterburner key. I can only assume I'm going to have to start pressing random buttons until I somehow get off the planet. Not a bad strategy, though, I should say. There was a game once in which I experimented switching weapons and found a very interesting "suicide" key. One HAS to love those little subtleties. Sorry again Britt.
  8. I know, I might need glasses. I'm probably making myself look like the biggest idiot from Philly all the way to Wraith. I looked on the little command sheet and I still can't find this fantastic afterburner which seems to be the big secret to egressing a planet. I know "W" is the thrust key, but that only get's me so high. "F" in VTOL mode also doesn't get me high enough. I am certain that I'm missing something crucial. Sorry all. On the bright side, I'm getting pretty good at "slug-festing" with other capital ships and fighters. I think I'll be ready for online play pretty soon. Thanks again, Britt.
