  1. Ender is at the center of focus in Xenocide, but he is not the only person in the spotlight anymore. The whole feel of the series changes drastically between Ender's game and Xenocide. EG was basically a moral play on the ethics and methodology of carrying out the last Bugger war. Xenocide is all about the ramificationsa nd redemption of the mass genocide. Children of the mind while interesting, essentially succumbed to Card's main flaw. He just can't do any more then two books in a series very well. He falls under the weight of his own mythos in each and every series. He adds so much fluff in the forms of rules, and morals that it stops becoming enjoyable. : I have yet to read a card Series that was still good beyond the second book. Whether it be Ender, Alvin Maker, or the Shadow series. *sigh*
  2. Thanks for all the info in the last thread, and since you all seem so capable...I thought i'd come back with a couple more questions . Based on what I have absorbed, for my system it would be best to get 2 sticks of 512mb. Bringing my total memory up to about 1.5 gb. But in looking at the costs for ram sticks, the 1gb version is about 12% cheaper then 2 512's.(Which is part of the reason why I started the first thread). Which got me thinking, since I can only really afford to update once Would it better to wait a bit longer and buy 2 1gb sticks? Considering my modest system(see below), Im not really sure if it would be worth it. I get the feeling that once I pass the 1gb mark, anything i had is suffering from diminishing returns and that I would better off saving the extra funds for a Grapics card update. What do you all think? ------------- Computer make/model: Dell Dimension 5100 Motherboard make/model: Processor type/speed: Pentium 4 3.0ghz Dual Core BIOS type: Memory type/amount: 512 MB Cdrom type/speed: HP DVD/CD Combo Sound card make/model: Sound blaster Live 24-bit Video card make/model: Ati Radeon x600 Video card memory: 256MB Monitor type/size: Dell 21 inch Mouse type: Microsoft Optical mouse Joystick: N/a Modem model/speed: Cable via PCI Ethernet Adapter Desktop color depth: 32bit Operating system: WinXp DirectX version: 9.0c Videocard driver version: 6.14.0010.6601 Soundcard driver version: 5.12.0001.0512 Mouse driver version: ------------------------
  3. Eh..bloody edit timer... Here is the new Profile. http://gdzks.homestead.com/files/Temporary...Profile_new.doc
  4. My system specs links to an offsite page because , Unfortunatly I don't have an offical UC/BC game. So far I've only been mooching off the free editions and since they aren't supported, I don't have any way of accessing that particular page...unless I am mistaken. Secondly, the info is horribly out of date (I should have updated a while ago...but been a tad lazy) the Rig I am using right now is a Dell Dimension 5100 Pentium 4 3.0 ghz 512mb ram (2 banks of 256...not sure what type. Im assuming Dimm DDR2) Ati Radeon X600 (256mb) Specific Details are in my new Profile.
  5. Have any of you tried the combat Demo?
  6. I am in the process of upgrading my comps piddly about of ram into something more suitable for gaming. My preffered source is from Crucial.com, however a note in their FAQ has given me some pause. Namely in my system, has 4 Ram slots (2 banks of 2) and Crucial states that you should fill a bank entirely, instead of partially....I've never heard of this before....but to be honest I rarely dabble in hardware and the last time I installed ram was many many many years ago on a system with only one slot. Is there any legitmate reason why I shouldn't install one Ram stick (1gb) instead of 2 (512mb each)?
  7. Generally I find Spike lee flicks very hit or miss, luckily this was a definate hit. It had a lot of sharp, witty dialogue, mixed with a pretty good overall plot. A good flick. 8/10
  8. If im not mistaken that film is about 1-2 years or so old already... Imagine what they are doing now
  9. quote:Originally posted by Cruis. In: are you being serious, i couldnt figure out how to play it. In addition to the in-game tutorial there is also a manual in the demo folder. Which should of ,course, not only invoke feelings of nostalgia but also many choruses of the UC mantra RTFM!
  10. The demo is pretty tight. I think SotS is going to be a great game

    TV - Eureka

This was a really funny, orignal series. I hope it keeps up as well as the preview movie. [ 07-30-2006, 07:23 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  12. The orignal transformers (G1) was not anime. It was an American cartoon that was imported to Japan. Eventually being completly completly Japan exclusive for a quite a period, before being repopularized in the US by Beast Wars. All the subsequent shows are imported anime.
  13. It's pretty fun once you get into it. The main problem is that ou have to read the forums to understand what the heck is going on....Which seems kinda famaliar
  14. It wasn't as good as Equilibrium unfortunatly. BUt it wasn't horrible.. Certainly not Blood Rayne horrible o.o
  15. I started into this movie with some trepidation. remakes generally suck and it would be hard to top anything that had Gene wilder in it. But happily I can say this is among the rare few movies that is not only as good as the orignal...but is far better. This was a hilarious film, you all will enjoy
  16. Significant other can't take the hint? Do what this guy did. How to break up
  17. Today the mark of the beast *cheer*
  18. A while ago, there was list on the boards of software people really loved. This is a similar list compiled by a magazine editor. It's good list. http://www.techsupportalert.com/best_46_free_utilities.htm I was kinda suprised how many on the list I already had
  19. Surprised this hasn't been mentioned already, but the creater of Leisure Suit Larry(The orignals, not Magna cum laude) is returning to the game industry on a brand new series. http://www.allowe.com/Sam/index.htm http://www.ibaseentertainment.com/
