  2. Hi $ilk, my ping times are waaay to high to have a decent MP session from here (here=RSA) + i'm on a modem !

At my office my ping times are a little bit better and bandwith a bit more; yet I don't want to start an MP session, it's really an hassle.

mind you: I haven't even activated the MP part.

  3. I'm back; having read the developments (and mishaps) from the last 5 years or so, I came to the following conclusion :

    - Communication between RP writers of the different fleets should be mandatory. Hoping that the SC and other RP writers *might* like the direction your ego-istic RP is heading towards, at the same time ignoring the messages from other (possible far more experienced players)could've prevented most -if not all- permabanned RP writers and cancellation of subscription by other RP writers.

Sure, people sometimes develop strange ideas along the way, but one very good RP writer left the scene purely by ignoring the warnings by his and other teammates and the SC which actually stood on the background for quite some time. Which brings me to the next item

    - After carefull study of the material I found that the RP with the most team efford came out the best by far; and possible even made it to the Game in some form or another... People might or might not agree with that; but I am convinced that good RP is definative a good source for mission scripts.

    - Japanese Noodles and South African Biltong mix well as a dish.

  4. Hi Remo,

Thanks for the time and efford you've put into this endeavour. I'll download and read the document whilst I am away for a holliday to the Karoo in a remote village that might have Internet and even electricity. Kidding about the electricity part.

During that stay i'll also look into the already existing RP to date; it seems to i've got a lot to catch up from the missions to Jupiter in '98.

I'll be reporting back in about two weeks.

    Grtnx,

    2B

  5. A more detailed one is at http://netshopeden.co.za/UCAWA/Photo020.jpg

I find them quite funny He fell from the craft as it went into space, but I could not find the marine back. But its easy reproducable; put a FC by means of a waypoint in the same space the marine occupies, and let it land on top. Then the marine will automagically get on top of the FC, then send the FC back to space with a RTB or a similar command that sends the FC topside.

All funny stuff that you can do on an Atari

Remember Elite Fronteer ? What was the framerate of that game ? We have become spoiled....

  6. I have received the 1st key for UCAWA through email when I ordered the UCAWA game yesterday; the physical media will arrive here in 3 weeks or so.

As I won't need the extra media when I want to run a second instance of UCAWA; i'll need a second key (or third for that matter) but not a second or third set of media.

Some software media outlets call it a virtual product, as it's only a key; software is already downloaded or otherwise in the posession of the user.

Btw: thanks derek for the continueing overall support in all those years ; these days it *really* is scarse, a lot of people are in the software biz/buz just to fill their pockets; but you already know that for more then a decade....

  7. Having read the faq http://www.3000ad.com/gamecq/ucmpfaq.html a lot of my questions have been answered; however when I would like to run a dedicated server and then connect a client to it I need to purchase two (2) copies of the game.

I see that I've received my first key, can I buy an extra key (not the whole package again) ? Not looking for a bargain, just looking for an extra key without the hussle of sending the same package across the globe.

    Signing off,

  8. Hello ppl,

Having moved from Netherlands to this worderfull sunny South Africa with lions & elephants a mere 15 min drive away, I am a bit bandwith impaired; so i've got this idea to run a local server where clients can connect to.

Is this possible/wise ? Please bear in mind that a 128kbit stream is a very big luxury here and pingtimes to the states/EU are sometimes well above 3 seconds. Australia however is fine; less bandwith congestion; so a an online multiplayer session wont be much fun I recon ?

    Tnx,

  9. Update: I reinstalled SP2 and now the game starts 1 out of 10, but now I at least saw the game

It might be that i see the crashed because my dx9c is a debug version... the windows is a pretty clean install and haven't noticed crashes so far, but nvidia 80.40 might also have something to do with it

The sim looks awesome, even though my rig sometimes has a rough time with the 1st person view. Space stuff has really improved since BCM !

Ps: please open the tech section for UCAWA ?

  10. Hi Derek,

I've been gone a while from the BC scene, I thought to try out the new demo (ucwa demo3) and it keeps on crashing at start. Some D3D error says the m$-log.

I run GF4 & nv80.40 drivers on a dual P3 running XP SP2. If you want I can send the debug log.

I hope to run the demo and buy the game.

    Greetings, 2bombs
