  1. Yup, I'm probably getting ES on Steam later this month, I never finished the campaign and I'm the completionist type. Hopefully it can help me forget I spent 50€ on Elite Dangerous .
  2. Great stuff Derek! I had been having problems running UCCE (and Echo Squad) since gamefly took over D2D and their DRM seems to have borked it up, but the steam version of UC works flawlessly!
  3. I just moved to a new place and money will be a bit tight in the coming months, so feel free to post your experience with the game to let me know what I'm missing
  4. Sad to hear that, but also glad you could test it before making any hasty purchase you might have regretted. It's in cases like that you're glad there are still games, indies mostly, that provide demos and don't force you to rely on less than ideal (let alone legal) means of testing before you buy.
  5. By the way Sho, you can download demo the base game and every expansions here. They're pretty much full game downloads but every game your start is time-limited (I think the tutorial is not time-limited) until you unlock the full content by inputing a license key. Should help you give yourself an idea if the game is for you: it's a great game, but it needs some getting used to the graphics, UI, all the controls and hidden menus, the very different departure in gameplay from other RTS games.
  6. Still around, though not as much as I'd like!
  7. I've been playing it since beta with 5 IRL friends of mine, and I have to say it's a real blast. Lots of people complain that it's not enough Planetside and a bit too much Battlefield on a grand scale. Well, tbh, my friends and I have always loved playing Battlefield as a team, so we're glad we can now play Battlefield on a map several kilometers wide I'll probably pour some cash in it when I have enough spare time to enjoy it.
  8. Thanks for the heads up Sho, I almost forgot about it.
  9. Actually, the Infinity devs are currently considering going the kickstarter route: they already have a few showoff vids, so they could definitely pull off some good advertising campaign. They have finally come to the conclusion that two guys simply can't make it in a decent time frame: the engine they've been developping over the past years is getting to a state where it is definitely usable to make the game itself, but they want to licence it first and be sure to have it really stable, mature, and if I'm not mistaken, quite portable. Which ofc takes as much time and effort as actually getting to the simply working point... and yeah, finally they're probably going to let the community help financially (remember, back in the time, when the project started, there was no kickstarter, or at least it was not as well known as it has become these years). I still have faith in the project, though I've long stopped being a regular of its community.
  10. Reporting in, sorry guys I've been more or less away from the internet for a couple months due to RL issues. It's all sorted out now!
  11. Nice tips Joey. Alternatively, I got v2.09 to run using this page. The tips given for XP should work for Vista and 7 as well.
  12. Reporting in. As for your question Mordax, I just checked and there is a tools folder in the 1.01.04 instal, so if you can't find it for 2.0, it probably wasn't included. I'm not sure GBS4 still works for 2.0, but seeing how 2.0 is mainly a graphics update to 1.01.04, I see no reason it wouldn't. Sadly I don't have a 2.0 instal atm, so I can't answer more precisely. Check your PMs.
  13. Merry Christmas everyone, Commodore Malori reporting for duty!
  14. Well galciv II ultimate is currently 7Ç on Impulse.
  15. Problem with Frontier is it's a great exploration game, but as a space combat game it's below standards. I've been playing it for years mainly to find interesting star system configurations, but that's about it.
  16. Still, even though you speak russian, I can't recommend that you buy the Tomorrow war. I'm a big space sim/game fan obviously, but this one just doesn't do justice to the whole genre.
  17. It seem to me you suffer from a very short attention span, which may be the problem, rather than games being boring or bad. However, concerning your list of wants: -The Tomorrow War: Don't. I bought it very cheap on Impulse, and it's bad. Really, it's boring, buggy as hell, and the russian => english translation, as usual, is subpar. 3Ç was still too much for that game, as I could have spent that money on some great game on gog.com instead. -Europa Universalis 3: if you buy it, be sure to buy the Chronicles version, which is EU3 + all expansions. As with all grand strategy games from Paradox Interactive, it only really shines with several years of bug fixes and gameplay improvements. It's a really awesome grand strategy game, but it's really a sandbox. You'll have to set your own goals, and depending on the country you start with, it be anything from surviving to world conquest. If you get bored of sandbox games quickly, you may want to try a demo (if any such thing exists for EU3) or that little illegal thing I resort to when there's no demo available before buying it. It's only 7Ç on gamersgate.com for a few days though. -Smugglers 4: I don't know about 4, but I played smugglers 3, and it's an interesting little game with quite some replayability. -Xcon Ufo defense: Well, if you can get past the DOS graphics, I can't recommend it enough. It's a very good game, very hard too, and has a very good replayability. It's probably very cheap on Steam, go for it. The rest I don't know much about.
  18. Factions can change their status with each other
  19. So I just went and checked, and Space Force Marines deployment via shuttles in space does still work. Somehow I thought the option was removed, maybe in AWA or SE? Or maybe I'm jsut making it all up.
  20. Please canshow, ODS work in UCCE. As I can't say for sure for V2, but you've been told they do, please stop posting about such unconfirmed issues. Btw, marines deployment via shuttle no longer work in UCCE if I remember correctly, though I'll have to check with the changenotes before you take my word on that. As for the cloacking, I'm pretty sure ships need high AI to even think about using it. You can't order them directly to cloack.
  21. I've been a huge starsiege player, though I've strangely never played tribes 2, but still I keep an eye on Ascent, and will definitely give it a go.
