  1. Pretty spiffy? I suppose I might may have been, if it wasn't an uttery copy of Opera. The features in it, the way it works, the hotkeys, all are the same. Pretty amusing too, because its not nearly as fast as rendering and locks up quite well on some flash stuff. Personally, if you like it - I think you'd like Opera more.
  2. Duck and cover! We're doomed, we're doomed! This should be really interesting, whether it goes wrong or not - That's to be seen. Though, I would truly be surprised that if something does go wrong, that we'll know anything about it until either its too late, or long over. If nothing awful does happen, its bound to unlock a few mysteries, hopefully sooner than later.
  3. Ahh, okay then! Thanks, I just wanted to know if I was missing out on something important!
  4. I'm not sure if you all handle issues with GameCQ, if not I apologize and ask if I can be pointed in the right direction. I've edited the stickies information requirements, since it isn't an ingame issue, if there is information you need I will gladly post it. OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows XP Home SP3 OS ENVIRONMENT: 1280x1024 32bit / 1024x768 32bit GAME VERSION: Most current patch, and the default install. PROBLEM: Whenever GameCQ is launched, I get the connecting to meta.xxx, then connecting to GameCQ server, then I login to my account. It logs in and brings up the screen for GameCQ and promptly crashes, giving me the 'This application has encountered a problem and most close' dialog box,I ofcourse send in the error to Microsoft, not that it'll do much. This issue has persisted from the default version of UCCE that came on the disc, to the latest version. I have a feeling, since I haven't seen any other posts about this, I suspect its an issue with my System, and if so its not a big deal (Satellite internet, can't really play). I just wanted to get this sorted out. Here is the GameCQ 'GCQL.log' Picture of Error. I have it installed in 'K:\Program Files\3000AD\GameCQ'. The program says its 1.0.0.1. Thank you for any help you can give! TO REPRODUCE: Just load up GameCQ and login, when the main screen comes up, theres where the issue appears.
  5. There are a couple of these type of games out there right now, and they're nice, but from what I've saw they don't have a lot of long-term depth or staying power. However I will admit that I have not played them much - Mainly because they do not handle latency very well and my satellite connection doesn't bide for good gameplay for myself in most situations.
  6. I believe a few recent patches changed how games were saved, making older versions incompatible. Therefore, you're either going to have to un and then reinstall the game and play with an unpatched version, or you should patch to the fullest (which I would think would be the automatic thing to do) and continue on from there. Use the autoupdater, it works the best and its quite fast. As for your crash, I'd suggest a reinstall.
  7. Direct from the source, can't get any better than that. I've take the liberty of reinstalling Diablo 2, sadly I don't have Lord of Destruction so I'll only be playing up to Diablos timely defeat. Battle.Net though, US East! Going to play a Barbarian this time around I believe, did a Necromancer last time back in '03.
  8. Okay then, second question - Is there any chance of getting GALCOM available on Steam? Since it'll be a digital purchase I like to have all my games in one spot.
  9. I asked this awhile ago, and I was told that it'd be about April when the boxed version of GalCom was released, its June and nothing. Is there any updates on when a boxed copy may be released on the market?
  10. I've been playing a lot of 'Two Worlds' lately, however I just ordered UCCE (finally, a good shipper to Canada! Whoo!) and Ares Rising (Oldie, easy, light space combat sim), needed it since my cd broke and I'll need a break from UCCE once and awhile. Other than that, online my time is spent between Ultima Online, and soon to (again) be Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.
  11. *Bought* Yay, finally I can get it shipped to Canada for a decent price! Update: June 27th 2008 - Recieved Package today with the game in it! Addiction this weekend is calling..
  12. The issue is on your side, not the demos. I've played the demo numerous times and it takes a matter of seconds for it to load, not five minutes. Also there are various options that you can adjust for the settings to make it work better. And any lower than 800x600 in this day and age is incredible. I'd suggest you update your video, sound drivers, disable your anti-virus and do a virus scan. Your system is having issues.
  13. Those look great, and its in an arctic region to boot. I love snow, looks quite exciting and interesting, can't wait for more information to be released.
  14. This is an improvement, thats for sure. Singleplayer games though in my opinion really shouldn't have anything online mandatory for them. However, online activation is liveable in this age of the internet. However, the limited amount of installs until you must contact by phone the home company, that annoys me a bit. I reformat regularly for various reasons, once I get Spore (cannot run Mass Effect, *glares at 2400XT*) I'll have to be calling EA probably every three or four months to reactivate the title that I paid and own. It just gets annoying. I'm hopeing that they will introduce an email based or online tool based way of doing it. I hate calling people.
  15. I am hopeful for GTA4, that it won't disappoint me like the previous games have done - That being that in the end, they had no staying power. They've always been a game which I would play for a few hours, addictively and then put it away for a year, then maybe pick it up and do the same thing over again. It just wasn't interesting enough past its mechanics of destructions to draw me in. However, I won't know about GTA4 until it comes to PC, I cannot afford a console and so I'm here, stuck waiting for it to be released in a year or so for PC. Though, I suppose this is a good thing since I doubt I could run it at the quality I want at the moment. *Glares at 2400XT*

    Iron Man

I am Ir... Yes, I've heard nothing but good about this movie, and I really want to see it, but rural Canada won't be getting it till at least the end of the month. Between that, and Indiana Jones, this month is brilliant for movies. I have to say, it has been a very long time since I have been this excited about movies, probably '05 was with LotR:RotK and SW3:RotS, both which disappointed me in the end.
  17. It is IGN afterall, this sortof thing is to be expected. Anywho, its GTA. Who bloody cares anymore, I wasn't impressed with SA back in what, '06? I'm not impressed now in '08. Whoop, theres seck in it - Its not like it isn't natural. I really cannot wait until the media attention shifts to some new poor industry, its about time that videogames lost its satanic image, its no different from anything else. I am sick and tired of all the 'violent videogames kill', it just isn't entertaining after all this time.
  18. Really, I think I'd be scared if it did follow the rules of physics. I mean, it is a fictional super hero, they're not exactly bound to be realistic. Also, everyone knows that super heroes are powered by the collective will powers of the thousands of devote fans. They alone are enough to break the barriers of time, space and reality! Huzzah.
  19. People actually still buy soundcards? I haven't bought a sound card since '99. Only ever needed them for DOS based games (*Glares at Redguard*). With Windows I've found that for gaming and general usage onboard soundcards are fine. I will however note that I do not do a lot of audio editing where it obviously is still needed. Interesting article though, looks like Creative did some pretty underhanded tactics which is sad. However, it is Vista.
  20. Yet we see what? A dozen? Two? 'Big Name' games that catches the media. Overall I find that I get disappointed by the big budget games, they have the hype, the attention and the 'features' that in the end seem to be disappointing, rushed or just dull. My eye is on the up and coming, the 'indie' or 'budget' developer, they seem to be able to produce with a much lower budget and amount of time superior gaming products. In the last decade or so, I've went from buying the big games (such as Quake, WarCraft, etc.) to buying games that are indie or small (such as the Stronghold series, Space Empires, etc.) Overall my rate of satisfaction and overall pleasure of gaming has gone way up. So, with this many games coming out, why isn't there more attention, twenty games is such a small number for the media (or any game related website it seems) to find. I wish there were (and there probably is that I don't know of) websites that instead of focusing on the big brand titles from EA and such, instead focused on the little games from developers like Spiderweb and other small, less known developers. I think gamers in general would perfer that, because in this day in age its becoming harder and harder to pick up the new and best releases at their 60$+ on consoles and 40$+ on PC. Just my thoughts, I think the little guy should always come ahead in the end.
  21. Well, I have found a spot that'll ship it for a good price (27$ USD) and has good shipping, only down side is that they're currently out of stock, which is quite annoying. So I'll wait until they have it. And its J&R, which I somehow missed, though I am not sure how. Reference link to product page.
  22. Okay, thank you. I just wanted to confirm that there was no other option. I guess I'll have to see what I can budget it, since I really like to have boxed copies of my games.
  23. Hello all, I've been seriously considering buying UCCE as soon as possible, but from what I can tell all the publishing for the boxed product is through American retailers (such as Amazon.COM, etc) and this really raises the price getting it into Canada. (What would be about 35$ USD is with taxes, etc about 60$). And, I was wondering if I missed an option that would send it at a decent price instead of having to buy a digital download (Since my main choice - Steam is unavailable).
  24. No matter what, it looks amazing! I can't wait till it is released and the multi-player gets going, if its as far reaching as the single player with both the internal ships and external system to play it, a capture the flag type game or of that nature (even if role-played) would be not only refreshing but also I think entirely unique! The possibilities of being able to combine first person in ship action with space combat is just so extraordinary! Oh look at me, all excited and I've got to wait more than a year for it. This isn't good for my attention span.
  25. Ugh, there goes my freetime! I'm getting the kindof feeling that I got from watching the Wing Commander movie. While it wasn't a true representation of the series I do love the way the world was built within it, the tight corridors, the mis-mash of modern Naval vessel with futuristic space vessels just seemed so right and interesting to me. I do hope it continues to be as grand as it looks to be now. (I have no doubt -- Theres no other way but up from here! . I cannot wait for the release and will be eagerly watching for more information. I'm not one to play first-person-shooters anymore, but I do believe that this will be an exception!
