  1. I usually get console games in addition to my PC ones. Currently am looking forward to Nintendo's Gamecube. Halo looks mmmkay on XBox, but I don't think any of the graphics done on Halo couldn't be done on a GeForce2 or better though. So I'll just save myself some $$$ on XBox unless some absolute must have game is released for it that... I must have! Plus rumor has it that Bungie plans that Halo for XBox's multiplay be split-screen, and the PC version of Halo will have internet multiplay, partly due to Microsoft's internet strategy not being in place at the time of release... but that doesn't concern me much, because I was going to get the PC version over XBox anyway. You can't go wrong with a keyboard + mouse interface!
  2. Well, the demo 'tis alright. I have to admit, its pretty fun sniping people with an ak47. Only gripe I have is that the controls take a while to remap, and its all displayed on that icky laptop! Other than that, pretty cool.
  3. Nope, this didn't work for me either. The stations.zip file was extracted to my demo directory (D:Program Files3000adBattlecruiser Millennium Demogfx). Upon docking, it booted me back to the windows screen. Hope some of this helps.
  4. I must say the regions seem a lot larger now. Takes a while in hyperspace to travel between points, even at full speed. And I also must point out that the ships are big, but the stations are MUCH BIGGER! Takes me 10 minutes on full burn just to get close to one, and by then I'm completely dwarved. And I'm real suprised how smoothly this thing runs! Athlon 700, 128 MB of RAM, and a Geforce2 MX. Wow, it runs like a dream, all without optimizations! And the music! Markus did a real good job, hats off to you! The track goes along very well with the "Entire Universe is Going On Without You And Could Care Less If You Existed" theme. Can't wait to get the first person mode and snipe some gammies.... just keeps getting better and better.
  5. My first post in a long while, good to be back! I spent 107461041471 hours (well, alright, 2) downloading the BCM lite demo, and let me say, it was worth it! Mmmmmmmmmm. I managed to defend the space station successfully. Wow, the fights now have some serious eye candy! After all the baddies were squished, I accidentally left my ship! Ack! After floating around aimlessly, I managed to call the ship back to me and have it stop within my general vicinity. After pitching around I stopped and stared... and stared... wow. The ships really are bigger! After some button smashing, I climbed back into the ship, and some more baddies showed up. Blew em all up, and then retired for the evening. Oooooh baby, BCM is going to rock the casbah! Post your demo experiences here! And yes, I am that crazy guy located in #bcm called PS-Kik2DaGroin! P.S. I noticed that the PTAs are now beams. I found it a wee bit hard to see them. I'm going to take a wild guess and assume that they are being rendered on a flat plane, giving them their flat appearance, which is the reason I think they are hard to see. This'll be fixed for the release, I hope, but if not, I'll just squint real hard! #bcm Channel Quote of the Night: Cmdr_GMAN> Ok for some strange reason the Sims CD in the drive just started. I really hate that game. PS-Kik2DaGroin> Derek must like the sims, he programmed the bcm beta to open up The Sims at random PS-Kik2DaGroin> Its a conspiracy! PS-Kik2DaGroin> He must have the Take2 CEO's living in 1 house, and he must build walls of furniture around them so they urinate on themselves, and starve to death [This message has been edited by Daniel Sedlacek (edited 03-17-2001).]
  6. Wow... it has been so long since I've posted here. I am INCREDIBLY sorry. I've been concentrating really hard on my school work this year so I can apply for a good college. My grades last year were bad so I need to work hard these next two years to make up for it. I also play Team Fortress Classic a lot and was invited into a clan in september, and have been occupied with that a lot lately. My next semester isn't too terribly packed with stuff to do so I'll hopefully be able to divide more time between school, TFC, and BC:M. (BTW: I did sign up for Beta, but couldn't get in. Oh well, at least I tried! I can wait for the demo...)
  7. I don't think it'd be terribly hard. I've messed around with image programs before, but I think Ben is better at the stuff than I would be, seeing how he made the logos. Maybe when he gets back, we can all bug him!
  8. I wrote one last year, it's decent, the link is in my sig. Enjoy. ------------------ Commander Daniel Sedlacek GCV Millennium, ISS HQ (Saturn) Tactical Support Wing - ISS Fleet ISS Homepage Hazardous Conduct Homepage
  9. I believe I was on the Tactical Support Wing, but if we are laking in the Defense Wing, I'd be happy to just stay put in the Defense Wing.
  10. Sounds alright to me. I suppose the uprising should take place in some system that doesn't have an incredible amount of military strength, because it doesn't make sense to have an uprising on, lets say Earth, when theres a space station with hundreds of thousands of troops in orbit. Sure there'd be a problem, but it wouldn't last very long . Of course, seeing how the fleet is in a very disorganized state at the moment, it could happen on Mars, or Pluto, or wherever. I think the idea of the Insurgents being behind it is a pretty good idea, they need something to do other than to just sit back and laugh as our fleet gets demolished by the Gammies. I assume this will take place after the Wraith Massacare is over? I believe right now ISS is amassing to defend the Sol Region from the Gam's...
  11. Well, since I'm not sure if Tactical Support Wing has a quote, I thought I might help on us decide on one, so I've been looking around, heres a few I found: In war there is no substitute for victory. Douglas MacArthur, General (1880-1964) No poor ******* ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making other *******s die for their country. George S. Patton, General (1885-1945) War is delightful to those who have had no experience of it. Desiderius Erasmus War will cease when men refuse to fight. Fridtjof Hansen You can't say civilization isn't advancing: in every war they kill you in a new way. Will Rogers (1879-1935) A man's feet should be planted in his country, but his eyes should survey the world. George Santayana (1863-1952) Patriotism is the virtue of the vicious. Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) War does not determine who is right - only who is left. Russell Bertrand Lead me, follow me, or get out of my way. George S. Patton, General (1885-1945) The world can only be grasped by action, not contemplation...The hand is the cutting edge of the mind. Jacob Bronowski Move not unless you see an advantage; use not your troops unless there is something to be gained; fight not unless the position is critical. Sun Tzu Thats all I can find for now, so I'll see if I can find anymore over the next day or two.
  12. Not aware if the Tactical Support Wing has a quote, so I removed it until all thats worked out. Now all thats left is to wait for the compatibility test to be released. Got plenty of time! ------------------ Commander Daniel Sedlacek GCV Millennium, ISS HQ (Saturn) Tactical Support Wing - ISS Fleet ISS Homepage Hazardous Conduct Homepage
  13. Doesn't sound too different from the way mine was before. How's this. ------------------ Commander Daniel Sedlacek GCV Millennium, ISS HQ (Saturn) Tactical Support Wing - ISS Fleet ISS Homepage Hazardous Conduct Homepage "The general who advances without coveting fame and retreats without fearing disgrace, whose only thought is to protect his country and do good service for his sovereign, is the jewel of the kingdom." 14. Tactical Support Wing sounds fine to me. Once we get multiplayer, will we have weekly or bi-weekly meetings, and stuff like that?
  15. Ok, I just registered, I left wing assignments and desired position blank, so you can put me wherever we need the extra man power (or lack thereof) .
  16. I'm still alive, but school is taking up most of the day, and the rest of the day is for homework, and trying to teach myself C and C++. I'll try to check in more.
  17. Well, all of my names are exactly the same as my real life alter ego. I came across my ship name about 5 years ago, when I started to Sim (roleplay over IRC) in a Star Trek group. My first ship was the FDS-Millennium, suprisingly, which I assumed command of until it was destroyed (not my fault!) a few months later. The only different name I use over the net is Kik2DaGroin (while playing TFC and CS). I came upon that one when one of my buddies signed me up for AIM, and used that as my ID. So, my full name wouldn't fit nicely, so I just used that one. I got my dog's name by watching TV.... *trails off* ------------------ Commander Daniel Sedlacek GCV Millennium ISS16 Tactical Support Wing - ISS Fleet ISS Homepage Hazardous Conduct Homepage "The general who advances without coveting fame and retreats without fearing disgrace, whose only thought is to protect his country and do good service for his sovereign, is the jewel of the kingdom." 18. Don't worry too much about people running amuck in our territory. Besides, we have about 1 or 2 years to prepare after BCM arrives. If Derek lets us host servers, I'd be happy to host a weekly gathering, school work permitting (I have to work extra hard this year and next if I'm going to get into the college that I want), where we coordinate strategies and tactics and such, my DSL line should be in by Christmas of 2000 ------------------ Commander Daniel Sedlacek GCV Millennium ISS16 Tactical Support Wing - ISS Fleet ISS Homepage Hazardous Conduct Homepage "The general who advances without coveting fame and retreats without fearing disgrace, whose only thought is to protect his country and do good service for his sovereign, is the jewel of the kingdom." 19. RP: On 1112 March 16, 3008 GCV Millennium "Ease us out of port, and bring us towards the debris field," Daniel said, as his helmswoman obidiently complied. The Millennium bumped along slightly, casting off it's ties to ISS Station, and maneuvering towards the systems local debris field. Daniel reaches over and presses a button on his command chair, "Engineering, are the weapons systems on-line yet?" "Yes sir," replies a young voice, "We'll be ready for test firing in about 10 minutes." Daniel smiles, he 'accidentally' left his chief engineer on the base, Logan had had enough stress for one day, so Daniel had decided to leave port while Logan was busy dragging the base's technical crews off the ship. Any more stress for that man, and his hair will fall out. "ETA?" "4 minutes," Rodgers replies, looking at her sensor screen, "Shall I pick out a nice large rock to blow up?" Daniel shakes his head, "No, I think Mr. Meyers can handle that. Lieutenant, whats the status of the weapons?" "Well, interfacing the new tracking computers with our older equipment was a little tough, but I'm sure all the bugs have been worked out. Capacitors are comming on-line now, we'll be ready to fire once we're in range." "Good," Daniel says, watching a large band of tumbling rocks and debris tumbling through space loom closer to the Millennium as she approaches the debris field. "Approaching optimal range of the debris field, sir," Rodgers says, easing her hands over the console to bring the ship to a full stop. Daniel flicks a button on his chair, then opens a comm channel, "Tracking stations, lock on to 3 targets within your firing arc's, we'll do a timed test on the new weapon recoil's and recharge rates... and on your reflexes of course." Daniel waits until he gets confirmations from all of his gunners to acknowledge to orders, "Fire on my command." Daniel glances at a small display of to his left. A small tactical display picks up all of the tracking station's targets, all of them small, stationary asteroids. I hope this upgrade was worth it, he thinks to himself. Normally it would take the older systems about 4 seconds to destroy all of targets. "Fire." Quick bursts of light flash on the viewscreen as the turrets open fire, tracking their targets. The gunners move quickly, firing once, and then moving on to the next target, a time-saving, but sloppy way to cleansweep an area of stationary targets, such as mines, debris, and in this case, asteroids. "Time?" Lieutenant Meyers smiles, "2.4 seconds sir." "Good job gunners, you may stand down." Daniel glances back at Lieutenant Meyers, "Ready main guns." "Main guns ready, at your command." "Target that..." Daniel's eyes scan the debris field, resting on the hull of an abandoned freighter... or at least it was a freighter, judging by the weapon scars, it was damaged beyond repair, "That freighter." "Aye sir. Target locked." Daniel nods, "Fire." The main guns let loose two cohesive balls of bright red energy. The blast impacts on the freighter's hull, melting through whats left of it's armor, and vaporising everything else. The shot continues through the hull until it impacts into the cargo hold, causing the cargo inside to detonate, sending the ship flying into many more pieces. All of this taking place in a matter of 2 seconds, Daniel glances at Meyers, "Why did it explode?" Lieutenant Meyers shrugs, "Must have been carrying fuel or something." "Tractor some of whats left of that hull into the cargo bay, and send it to the Science Labs, I'd prefer to know if it was either weapons, fuel, or that slop Galcom Command puts in pouches and calls Combat Rations." Meyers nods, "Aye sir." "Navigation, take us back to port." "Aye sir," Rodgers moves her hands across the console, yawing the ship to come about to head back to ISS Station. "And if the our friendly Chief Engineer asks, we were called out to investigate some strange readings in the debris field, and were unable to reach him in time before we left port." Everyone nods responding in unison, "Yes sir." Daniel sighs, heading into his ready room to inform the brass that the upgrades were a success. And making sure he's not around when the Chief gets back onboard. RP: Off Sorry, would have posted a day or so ago, but I just upgraded my computer, and had some major setbacks getting the system up and running. Just felt like blowing some stuff up . We can always say there were enemy spies on the ship covertly monitoring ISS Station or something creative if you prefer, but I'm still sure that it was carrying combat rations! ------------------ Commander Daniel Sedlacek GCV Millennium ISS16 Tactical Support Wing - ISS Fleet ISS Homepage Hazardous Conduct Homepage "The general who advances without coveting fame and retreats without fearing disgrace, whose only thought is to protect his country and do good service for his sovereign, is the jewel of the kingdom." (It's not here yet, but it will be soon, hopefully BEFORE the Demo is released) I guess 24 sustained hours of multiplayer will do.
