  1. I posted a comment back the the Phillip dude...... Good review eh!! .... anyone that really PLAYS AAW comes up with almost the same conclusion: - awesome, yet brain melting.
  2. As all the other boyz are saying - that is a huge problem right there. This "?video controller (VGA Compatible)" means that you have no video drivers loaded for your video chipset. You are going to need to find out what card (maybe even on-board) video processor you have. Open the case and check. If I have to explain any further then I will have to go and puke into my technology ignorance bag (I'm only half joking) . Your amount of RAM is suspicious too. 768mb means that you have 256mb + 256mb / 128mb + 128mb ... or ... 512mb + 256mb DIMM modules. Either way I almost guarantee that they are unmatched pairs, which could cause all kinds of memory timing issues, and a machine that is flaky as hell. I would be surprised if this system could run any games at all.
  3. Yeah agreed. I've got Defender disabled. I think we probably all would leave Windows Firewall ON (unless 3rd party Firewall turns it off), and most of us are broadband with NAT I would say.
  4. That's where a good virus would come in handy, just call it Modern Warfare 2 and stick it on a torrent ..... burn all the assholes that copy software, hard. And then do the same for music.
  5. Yeah, I agree, I would love to go back sole trader again.
  6. I'm enjoying the RP. And have been spreading the love of GCO around some of the forums, to which Derek has been involved a bit. That's been fun too. I work as a Problem Manager (ITIL) for Johnson & Johnson, I look after ASPAC and EMEA, so that is why I can be online at all weird hours, because I work from a home office and spend most of the night plugged in!!
  7. This is FutureMark, the coding will be like the Amiga demo days, tight and tidy.
  8. [RP] "Wormholes? What do you know about wormholes?", replied Shingen. Badman mused ... now came the test; a test of recall, not knowledge. Badman's mind had somehow been infused with fact's that he did not "know", but somehow could "recall". A most disconcerting, yet strangely pleasant sensation. "Shingen, when I died, I saw the 'tunnel' that my men would refer to as they lay dying on the battlefield. I can only assume that others journey's after that point are not the same as mine, else everyone would have experienced this the same as I, and whilst I cannot be sure that that is not the case, I somehow am sure that my experience is unique. It felt .... 'unnatural' .... for me the light did not cease or diminish, but continued to grow. It grew till the light enveloped my whole being, the very essence of my life, my soul.", Badman looked at Shingen, judging the reflected credibility, the plausibility, the belief. "Whilst inside the light, a voice came to me. The voice of a man, but at the time I was sure was a god. There is also the vaguest recollection of an image, as a shadow in water", at this point Badman glazed over, as if in a trance. Shingen leant forward, slowly raised his hand in front of Badman's face, snapped his fingers and yelled "Badman!!!" .......... At the same moment, the shuttle was rocked by an impact that was not enough to destroy her, but certainly enough to send Maiko to the floor, and their ale's into the air. Alarms, raised voices, and Badman laying on top of an even more alarmed Mariko. [/RP]
  9. Check out this guys, interesting and unique: - http://dmytry.pandromeda.com/games/index.html
  10. I'll do it ...... do I just start a thread "Calling all EarthCOM Fleet personnel" ??
  11. AVG Ad-Aware & Spybot for just passive scanning. + don't do any emule etc.
  12. /ON "What a shit cut". Badman thought as he stared at his four 2's ..... low number - He still didn't know how to play this game. Fold. Again, his mind wandered as it had done so many times over the past few weeks since he had fallen cold and naked to the deck of the Starstation Ragnarok. As strange as this "new" place still was to him, words like "Ragnarok" held meaning in that they represented an earlier time in Earth's past, times long before the existence that surrounded him now. According to the lingua lătīna translated databases that the crew had allowed him access to, Ragnarok meant "End-of-Time" or Apocalypse to a people called the Norse Vikings. He knew nothing of these people of course, as they had existed some 700 years after his birth, but still the use of the word now gave him some comfort. The irony and underlying relevance of the name "Ragnarok" was not lost on him however; End-of-Time, not a good omen. "Bastard.." Mariko said under her breath. Shingen smiled and sat back drinking his ale. Badman knew Shingen's type. Were it not for his ship that could fly through the heavens, he would be a down-right pirate. Be that as it may, he would be the type that would fight for purse or love, the type not bound by any code other than his own. Provided that code was sound and not twisted by greed or power, then he would be mentally strong and ideologically flexible. Mariko, on the other hand, seemed young and impulsive, enough so to be dangerously unpredictable; a trait that unfortunately Badman was way too fond of in a woman. ôMariko, tell me again how you are driven to want to beat Shingen's head in at every opportunityö, he said. A flicker of embarrassment, just enough, then "Just jokin' milady. Your spirit is vibrant and commands respect, please forgive me". That same wry smile was barely contained on Badman's face, to which Mariko burst out laughing. "Shingen, I know that you have only heard pockets of what I have had to say so far, but at most I have only spoken of the importance of a 'message' that I am compelled to convey. Before I go on, I need to ask you a question", Badman took a sip from his ale as he gently eye'd Shingen over the froth. ôCan your ship stop inside a wormhole?" /OFF
  13. SC, thought this to be very interesting. I have always loved gaming because it allows me to separate myself from the real world, so I find MMO's a novelty most of the time. D&D Online (Turbine) seem to have hit a sweet spot, both in terms of placing the $$$ control in the hands of the player, and also at attracting a wider audience. An interesting article on Ars: - http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/10...ree-to-play.ars
  14. Q ... how do I use the Signature??? I can't see it in the profile set-up. EDIT .. since found that my forum shortcut by-passed My Controls .... use your eyes Badman.
  15. /RP ON Bay 2, Pad Q - 1406hrs Badman had been lost in thought for some time, with most of the discussion in ShoHashi's office enough to put him into a confused trance. Admittedly, up until recently he still considered "stars" as pinholes in the curtain of night, but now had been witness to all the heavens spread out before him as if someone had trapped eternity in their pocket. His intent had been to "find the wisest or highest ranking" person he could find, but now a different perspective was germinating. ALL of these men would be valuable, there was something noble afoot here, but nobility coupled with politics was perhaps not the best tact in this instance. The "lost in thought" had yielded a decision. "Garrison", Badman replied, "I would request that I be stationed with Shingen for this leg of the journey. I know I have said to you that there is something I must say, and I need to approach this from the direction that is most appropriate - so that the ends justify the means. You are a military man, as am I, so I would traditionally have reached for you as a staple-mate or brother in arms to share this burden, but I fear that my mission may conflict with your mission, also your code as a leader at this juncture. I will tell you all I know, but I must consult with someone of a rebellious nature first, as the actions spawned by the information may require some breaking of treaties and laws, and not just the ones made by man or beast; this may be at odds with your mandate ..... please give me some time, and trust". Garrison looked deep into Badman's eyes, as a lover would just before the slapping of the face, or the embrace of understanding. /RP OFF
  16. Yay ... I'll post to the RP within the next 24 hours .... Badman has been lost in thought and conflict :-)
  17. OK ... help me out here Quazar .. I want in on this ..... EarthCom (it may even factor in the RP component) What do I have to do?
  18. In the spirit of Chaos ... the story should tell itself :-) Lets just run with it boys .... no pre-approval. ....... If I think too much, I freeze.
  19. /* ........ ôhow do I validate an assertion that baffles my mind. I am realising that there is much I have to learn about this time and place; so much has happened in the multiple millennia since my demiseö, Badman's thought's plagued him. His struggle with his own circumstances and identity directly mirrored the dumb-founding information he was entrusted to carry. Now that he had a name for this ôunnamed oneö, he was still not sure of which identity to associate with the man. Was he to be aligned with? If so, the military handle would surely suffice. Was he to be trusted and befriended? in which case his first name would come naturally. And Surname ... only if neither applied. ôI must take what I 'think' I know to the highest ranking or wisest person I can find, in the shortest amount of timeö. Something in both of these men, Garrison and Shingen, instilled a level of trust that Badman instinctively knew from the battlefields of blood; but he also knew the frailty of men's souls. Should he tell them? As they walked toward Admiral ShoHashi's office, Badman's choice to act now and entrust these men, or deliver his ômessageö to the Admiral, was becoming more urgent. And yet a third option; now that he knew of Garrison's plans, should he infiltrate Galcom purely with the intent of reaching a leader within? ôWait Gentlemen, I am sure that these matters are of great importance to your lives, those too of your friends and families, and from what I have seen so far would become important to mine, but there is something that happened between my old life and this new. I still can't quite separate my dreams from reality, and am not entirely sure if I lay on a deathbed of delirium, but as sure as I think that I am here, I have words that I must say; words that may play host to the tangibility of our very existenceö. Shingen looked at Badman as if he already knew him, but was sure it was only from a dream. */
  20. Freely pee'ing. Are you on amphetamines or something SC? ..... 3K are firing out software like the Wonka factory.
