  1. Capture lots of stations and you'll be supreme commander really fast.
  2. I'll have to do some testing later since I have both versions installed.
  3. I posted a thread a while back with a similar question, it should still hold true unless the AI was changed between UCCE and UC free. http://www.3000ad.com/forum/index.php?/topic/50026874-is-this-normal/ Carriers seem to attack more often than cruisers, and fighters are more aggressive than both.
  4. You should definately keep combat kits, prepped marines fight intruders far better than unprepped ones. And yes 18 intruders is really annoying, though having a few intruders destroy your shields while in combat is worse...
  5. I've always just sold the 10 medicine you start off with.
  6. Interesting. It'll be nice to add it next to Wing Commander 4 on my hard drive.
  7. I found all the voice acting to be great except for George Washington...Whenever I hear his voice I have a sudden urge to hit the declare war button and wipe him off the planet.
  8. Yeah when I alt tabbed to check how hot my CPU was (recently got this and was having some heat issues) only 1 core was used and it was at 100% usage.
  9. No, though I have noticed that the game only uses 1 core. The turns taking longer isn't surprising, I haven't gotten far enough to experience that. Every civ game I've played has done that because the AI makes more calculations the longer the game goes on.
  10. From my understanding the retail copy installs it off a disc with no updates (there has only been 1 anyways) and you can circumvent the download. And what is this about auto switching? Mine simply pops up with a button saying you have a unit that needs to be moved. Also for anyone who uses xfire, unless something is wrong with my system it appears having it on and trying to load/start a new game causes the game to crash.
  11. I hope your joking about the pirate part. But the interface is a matter of opinion. I myself prefer the windows, now its all stuck on the main screen. Currently I'm playing as Rome on Warlord difficulty, went to war with Alexander and got 2 other countries attacking me though they didn't do much. As soon as I got legions (which can build roads!) Alexander offered some gold to me and a peace treaty. The AI in general seems to be a lot better than Civilization 4 and the new diplomacy options are nice. I put it on standard time, though it looks like I'll be playing on epic speed like I did in Civ 4 for future games.
  12. Since it finally came out yesterday I bought it off steam and downloaded it. Out of the 50 or so turns I've played so far I have mixed feelings. The interface has been extremely simplified, gone are the windows of the past as well as the good old sliders. The graphics surprised me considering they recommended a 9800 series nvidia card, but that is likely because I'm stuck in DX9. The combat changes are quite nice though. Overall its fun though I personally don't really consider it a sequel to Civilization 4. Anyone elses thoughts on Civilization 5?
  13. Well, thing is, that I'm not a Ter/Mil commander in that save. I'm a Terran Diplomat...and don't know exactly what's expected on me if I want to, as you say, stick to the role (something that I'm very much inclined to...if I knew what to do ). I mean, as part of the military, or as an assasin, etc, is pretty much clear which are your goals...but as a diplomat?...no idea, that's why I'm asking for tips Ah well you can always roleplay by going to neutral/friendly sectors that your on diplomatic missions. If you need money you'll be forced to trade or mine unless you can find a stray cargo pod.
  14. 1 Nope, its stuck in real time. 2 You can do whatever the heck you want about it. That is the entire idea behind roam, he gives you the tools you do whatever you feel like doing. If you are part of the Terran military and want to stick to the role, then you would be obliged to escort it. 3 They're all for the TER/MIL castes, but there are also fighter ACMs.
  15. 2.0 isn't all that different from 1.01.04 gameplay wise.
  16. I remember once some intruders beamed into operations. I was hoping they'd kill Resnig, but there were some marines in/near operations so Resnig came out with minor injuries. It was an excuse to stick him in medbay where he can't screw anything up though.
  17. 1)For some reason I can't get ODS units in v2.0 to fire either. Its probably an issue on my end though. 2)Fairly sure mine is male, I can't check as I'm currently away from my PC. 3)Pilots also have weapons, as for whether or not they use them I don't know.
  18. I'd space him, but then my marines would take longer to prepare for combat....
  19. Its also has a fast cruise speed/hyperspace speed. I dunno about the recharge as I haven't used it much.
  20. I've got the patch saved on my PC, I just have no clue as to whether or not its OK to upload. So unless the SC (which I'm fairly sure its not considering it was a "limited time offer" ) says its ok its staying where it is.
  21. Yup, thats why I said they're close to requiring more than I have. If I want to keep dual channel I'll have to go 64 bit I believe.
  22. I'll probably end up riding XP out for now, though games are getting very close to requiring more ram than I have....
  23. I'm afraid I can't help you then, I've never seen anything like that.
  24. No, i mean, there is nothing going on. No firefights of any kind, shields aren't taking damage, nothing. But Navitron, Bridge, and Main Computer always get damaged to either 99% or 100%. When its 100%, it takes a couple of minutes to fix, but it doesn't require anything to fix it with except my engineers. All of them are auto-assigned to "fixing" those systems, and it annoys me when i have fighters to repair. Like i said, there is nothing wrong. No radiation, no intruders, no illnesses or disease, no ship-to-ship combat or me recieving any damage. The System Engineers just don't work on it. The system im repairing usually doesn't cost a repair kit, no matter if its at 72% or 99% health. I assign the engineers, and they don't do anything. It only works to repair it successfully is if that system gets damaged again. Will it let you replace the components instead of repairing them?
