Insurgent quirk?

Recommended Posts

Hey this question is for all the Insurgents.

Do you find that playing in free flight Insurgent mode using that mpak1 in mission control causes a slow down?

Before I started playing as an insurgent using that add on I never experienced such a drop in frame rates.

With no ships on the screen, just around Sygan starbase the frames drop to a crawl.

This is with 2.09 Final(refresh) and 2.09 mpak1.

I also deleted my bc3000ad folder re-installed 2.08 from the CD, applied the patch, and the mpak1 to play as an Insurgent, and it goes to a crawl.

But If I play as a galcom it's smooth.

Do any of you get this?

I have had the same, but I have not tried it with the refresh patch yet. I think its because of the battles that are taking place. Play as galcom, and try to get in to a big battle (maybe take on a starbase or something). I noticed it only did it when carriers or cruisers were around, but then again, I gave up as soon as it slowed down, due to its unplayablity when it did. I havent properly tried out the refresh patch yet, but the previous 2.09 did this with me. Try it, see what happends, take note of things like.. are you in a battle, or is a battle occuring in another area.

No there's no battle occuring. And there like only 5 ships around. I even jump out of the region into somewhere where nothing is, and the frame rate is still low.

On the galcom free flight mode this doesn't happen, but it's the Insurgent add-on.

Boss...I've duplicated what Cruis. In is talking about per his request. In Galcom, there is no trouble but with the Insurgent add-on, I get massive slowdown for no apparent reason. Is that add-on supported?

No major slowdown here. Unzipped 2.09 mpak1 to scripts, started new game, flew to Sygan, used fleet C&C to launch nine ships and no appreciable slowdown.

I haven't re-installed the game since about preview D.

Hmmmm. Could it be that Cruis. In and I are using slow systems?

Heheh! Well I have a P133 and I get slowdowns with the mpak but not when I play galcom free flight. I also tried running the mpak on a friends pentium 3 128 ram system, and it was still at like 2 frames.

My first impulse, yesterday, was to kill this thread. But, I wanted to see how far the participants would go, at making complete fools of themselves before I kill the thread.

But, let me help you guys, look even more foolish. Cruis. In, I'm getting tired of seeing your forum-cluttering posts. You and your friend here, Robbie, are getting on my nerves.

First of all a P133 isn't even the minimum requirement for the game. Further, I have nine machines here, in addition to the forty or so machines of the beta testers that I have access to. This slowdown has never been experienced. Apart from that, if that script was supported in the game, it would be part of the game instead of a separate download. So, if it is slow on your machine, don't run it. What could be more simple than that?

That said, the difference between the Free Flight and Insurgent/Trader/Raider scripts, is the changing of the caste.

Now I feel like a real moron...the reason I have been experiencing slow-down has nothing to do with the game but rather something else on my system.

Sorry.
