JoeyGuppy Posted February 23, 2000 Report Share Posted February 23, 2000 Hey Whats up? I Have been Playing BC3k v2.09 and like it says, My computer decides to reboot its self. Is this a problem that any else has had. The game has run pretty stable and usally doesn't crash for awhile when i play it. But twice my computer has Rebooted. Both times have been when i just left it run and gone and watched TV or run outside for a smoke. the first time i don't know how long it was running with out me doing anything and the second time it was about 16 mins of just sitting there. the First time I had the ai on and gave it the halt order the second time the AI was on and i told it to escort Galcom HQ. i don't know if it has rebooted While this game was on at any other times these are the only times i Caught it. I also can't remember it rebooting while i was playing any other games, but i have an odd feeling that this might be a problem with my computer and that it has happened before, like it might be a problem with win98 or somthing just don't remember it happening with any other programs. I have a screwed up with additude... Packard bell MII-300 Cirix MMX enhanced procesor 3.2 gb HD 48 MB of RAM a 56k modem and a 32x cd-romDon't know what kind of sound i have but i have no sound selected it the sound setup anyways.The game says its running V2.09 and i think i did the patches right but one think that i might did wrong was i didn't intall the patchs from the BC3k directory i ran them from where they were downloaded to. Also my Saved game was gone. It's not that big of a deal since the game works and usally lasts a lot longer than when i first started playing it almost a year ago but i just wanted to know if there is an easy fix to this or if it is somthing beside BC3k. I'd advise re-installing from scratch and installing the patch the PROPER way, straight from the BC3k dir. Believe me, it might LOOK like it's right (had me led around the nose for a bit too) but you gotta install it from inside the game dir itself. Rattler Posted February 24, 2000 Report Share Posted February 24, 2000 "Uncle Rattler's" remembering way back when the SC said that some Cyrix chips just wouldn't run BC, or at least I think I remember him saying that! There have been far too many days and patches since then though. You are exactly right when you said "Attitude" when talking about Cyrix chips from the past. Don't know about the chips above 200Mhz though. Still could be a problem. But i find that it'll do it more often than not, if i jusy start the game and leave(quit) right away without playing, or without loading a game. like i loaded the game but a meteor crashed outside so i want to go see it, so as soon as it loads up i just quit and it reboots.------------------ Commander Cruis.In ICV Defiance "Dare to be defiant" Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I haven't played that much yet So i don't know for sure if it is fixed but it hASN'T rebooted yet.Didn't Packard Bell quit makeing computers? I haven't seen any in the stores around here. It has been much better since I upgraded the processor and ram, and installed Win95. But it still has its moments. Any problems that I have running BC3K, I automatically blame the machine and not the software, just because it is a Pac Bell. Especially in its original configuration, this machine was never ment to run v2.0.You are correct NEC pulled Packard Bell's plug back in November. They are only sold in Europe now. There are a few independent websites out there that do support Pac Bell machines. If you want to know more, E-Mail me, the address is down below.I'm saving up until I can stick an Evergreen Spectra 400mhz in mine.
