Steve Schacher Posted March 4, 2001 Report Share Posted March 4, 2001 Are you jumping out of the region while the shuttle is still in the debris field? This has also been known to cause a crash.Debris fields are dynamically generated, and they are destroyed when the battlecruiser leaves the region. Order it to Cargo Sweep then computer goes back to desktop.I have no problems saving game.I've tried this with ver 2.00, 2.08 and 2.09, same problem at same place.As for the mouse driver trick, I tried that to no avail. Did I miss some trick here? Such as what drivers, I have one of those new optical mouses.Changed Config.sys as per FAQ. changed DPMI to 32768 and a few other numbers.I do not have this problem during Free Flight. Steve Schacher Posted March 4, 2001 Report Share Posted March 4, 2001 All that I can say is that I've had funny stuff like that happen now and then.My rule of thumb has been that if it consistently crashes when doing something like that, then stop doing it. Scavenging debris fields does work, but I have seen it where a particular field at a particular point in the game does weird stuff with no explanation.I'd say to skip the field for now and maybe try it again later, or try a field in another region and see if that one crashes. Guest Roknor Posted March 5, 2001 Report Share Posted March 5, 2001 Well, I found a way around my little problem (and all it took was a little hair pulling).Instead of ordering Cargo Sweep, I did it manually. SH1 -> ORDERS -> COLLECT -> CARGO -> (list of cargo pods).It took a little longer, but it worked.At the start of mission, I tractor beamed the Diplomat and then sent my shuttles into the debris field in Earth's system.
