Turrets different in Firepower?

After playing BCM for quite some time,first with a Firestorm ,then with a Violon (i like its shape ),it looks to me as if the beams of the Violons turrets are not as powerful as the Firestorms (i know that the Firestorm has 10 turrets and the Violon only has 8 ).

But even with 3 beams hitting from my Violon the shields of a enemy fighter seem to drop not as fast as hitting with 1 beam of the Firestorm...could this be or am i assuming shit ?

Sounds like we need to add a field called Turret Shot Rating after the Qty of Turrets field for capital ships and stations.

Using info derived from the objclass.scr and objdefs.scr files (below) the per shot rating for example the Stormcarrier turrets could be derived as listed as follows :

150 units/500ms

From the above, each time a turret beam paints a target, it inflicts 150 units of damage per 500 ms. Therefore, if 4 of its 6 turrets paint the same target for the same amount of time, the damage inflicted is 4x this amount (4x150=600).

In instances where each turret has a different shot rating, an average value should be used.

Note that even though the beams generally slice in one of several directional patterns, the recharge time determines when the beam is turned on/off within any target acquisition pass.

Phew...so im after all not blind

Btw could the strength of the Violons turrets be increased a little? im finding it quite hard to kill a enemy fighter with only the turrets...so practically they are quite useless for defence against them...

On every class ship there is a place where the PTA systems has an optimum damage output. This is the place that we call the "Sweet Spot". Because this spot is dependant on turret placement etc. It is different for each ship class.

I would suggest you do some experimenting and try to find the sweet spot for the Violon or whatever ship you are currently commanding. Otherwise your PTA system is not going to be that effective no matter which ship you try..... although some of the sweet spots are easier to find than others.

I haven't really flown the Violon that much, so I really couldn't tell you where the sweet spot is on that ship......sorry.

Violon PTA strength is fine just as is. Improve your CC piloting skills some and you'll discover that the Violon is just as deadly - if not deadier - as the Aestrom against peashooters

The BCMkII and the Violon have the same Sweet Spot.

And no ... I shant divulge it

Tinker around and experiment some.
