BCM Demo on PC Gamer/PC Zone (UK)

Hi all,

I'm new here, just like to say that the demo is on the PC Zone cover disk this month in the UK.

All I can say is that it is simply superb. Not a moments trouble with stability, the new interface excellent, the scale and scope huge - and this is only a fraction of the whole thing? I have no doubt at all that this will be the best sim of all time. It's great to see someone realise their vision, and even better to benefit from it!

I noted some criticism of the concept of releasing cut down beta code in stages but for me it's a brilliant idea. It gives me a chance to get to grips with the complexity in stages.

Cheers

Steve

Its not hidden anywhere. Send email to Mark Southern or Matt Pierce and ask them what demo they actually ran. If they ran the special one I did for them, then there would be 3 IA scenarios listed, not 2.

No, this third scenario won't appear in any future demo because one of the stations is textured using the PCG logo.

SC right

Just got June's PC Gamer (UK) 97

This one

quote:

Includes an exclusive PC Gamer mission

They probably missed their deadline or did n't want to change the mag or CD/DVD layout in the time they had left.

For those of you who don't have a copy of PC Gamer here's what your missing

quote:

[scenario]

COMMANDER [PC GAMER TRANSPORT DEFENSE]

[description]

RACE : TERRAN

CASTE : MILITARY

CAREER : COMMANDER

CRAFT : QUESTAR HEAVY CRUISER

REGION : FARSTAR SPACE REGION

WELL THOSE NUTCASES OVER AT PC GAMER, DESPITE THE RAMIFICATIONS, DECIDED TO GO AHEAD

AND SEND THEIR INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING ON THE INSURGENTS PENCHANT FOR PROMOTING

VIOLENCE IN GAMES DISTRIBUTED IN GALCOM TERRITORIES, TO PRINT.

SOMEHOW, THE INSURGENTS HAVE GOTTEN WIND OF THIS AND WILL PROBABLY ATTEMPT TO

INTERCEPT THE TRANSPORT CARRYING THE PRINT MAGS EN ROUTE TO THE PC GAMER HQ OVER AT

THE OLIRAN STATION.

THERE IS WORD THAT A FEW OF THE PC GAMER EDITORIAL STAFF ARE ON BOARD THIS TRANSPORT.

YOU ARE TASKED WITH ESCORTING THE PC GAMER TRANSPORT UNTIL IT DOCKS WITH THE OLIRAN

STATION IN THE HELLSEYE REGION.

THIS DEMO SCENARIO WILL TERMINATE AFTER 120 MINUTES, REGARDLESS OF VICTORY CONDITIONS.

Yep seen the logo's

Now that was a mission and a half, the first 2 missions are so easy so I let the ai do the flying in the extra mission LOL was that a mistake second mistake was to think that the PTA would take care of those Insurgents should have known better

if they had been Galcom no trouble, these Insurgents shot me up something bad before I took command and started giving the orders.

Anyway it was to late for them I'd hijacked the cargo already (check the sig) hehehe

Soback, that mission is not compatible with the normal BCM code base because the station is retextured specifically for it.

The only way to play that mission is to back up the following files in the normal demo (HC or LC version) :

quote:

datascenarios.zip

dataworld.zip

And copy these files from the PCG demo folder to yours :

quote:

datascenarios.zip

dataworld.zip

modelssstat2pcg.3d

modelstexturessstat2pcg1.bmp

modelstexturessstat2pcg2.bmp

modelstexturessstat2pcg3.bmp

modelstexturessstat2pcg4.bmp

This will give you all 3 IA scenarios.

And no, I am not posting these files on the site. Ask Pugwash or someone, to open a free account over at i-drive, put them there and post the link in this thread.

Also, since PCG #96 ran the public demo, for station docking to work, the demo update is still required, if this file is not in the demo install folder:

quote:

gfxfrontendstations.zip

I've picked up a virus so as precaution have pulled the link I scanned the file befor I compressed but Norton is not detecting this virus.

Norton is upto date but it still say I'm clean

I found a virus called TROJ_PPHUCKER.C at the weekend with PC-cillin and deleted it.

Blackice reported some Port probes and Echo storm attacks this evening and when I checked the log files It would seem all my password lists machine settings ect have been ftp to someone.
