A logo, a website and home base of operations, sounds great!

A charter for the Corp to follow; don't make it to technical, we are Independents, we answer to know one, that's why we didn't join a fleet.

For the whole part, a division of castes or soughts is ok, but too much organization makes us more like a fleet. But the diversity in races will keep us apart.

For example: If I have a contract (all hypotheticcl), and I am returning to say home base, and I see a couple of Gammulan ships beating up a Galcom Terran trader vessel, because I am a Terran, by choice, and yet the Galcom is in the Corporation, who is to say, I can't open fire on the Gammulan vessels and save the Terran Galcom vessels in order to make a buck, because I am a Mercenary? And Interesting point? Does that then get me in trouble with the Corp and possibly a bounty on my head?

All in all, count me in.

AFAIK, what happens outside the corporation's base(s) is none of my concernes. If however some gammulan survivor decides to put a bounty on your head... Hey, what can I do?

Welcome aboard.

Now, as far as the trader division's charter is concerned, here it goes.

Mind that it is only a first draft, any comments are welcome

BEGIN CHARTER

"Commodity Inc, an Intercorp Division"

Commodity Inc. assists in the exchange of goods, safe transport and negotiations

concerning price and deliverance on behalf of its members, provides contacts with

persons qualified/able to escort trading vessels and providing a base to exchange goods at.

Due to the independent nature of the parties involved Commodity Inc. does not resolve

disputes and does not pass judgement over events outside of its base.

Once a settlement is reached Commodity Inc. and one or both parties leave the base,

then the division is no longer responsible for any actions performed by either party.

Disputes are to be settled by the parties involved themselves or by other, higher,

authorities if these can be found.

Commodity Inc's base provides a safe haven for those that are present, thus enabling

trading parties to conduct business in a safe environment. Any misconducting person will be expelled by force.

The sphere of influence of Commodity Inc. only encompasses the base itself.

All members of Commodity Inc., with the exception of the Director, are only bound

by the divisions rules and rulings as long as they are at one of the corporation bases.

Outside its base all members are acting as independents, following nobody's rule

but their own.

Commodity Inc. requires a commision of 4% of the involved the transaction, with a minimum

of 50.000, for every deal that is closed with direct help of the division.

The penalty for noncompliance is to be expelled from Commodity Inc. The fee is to be

paid within 2 weeks.

Members are aquitted from this free if a party that is introduced by Commodity Inc. does

not keep its end of the bargain (of which the member must provide proof).

Any earnings made by the division are to be invested in the divisions infrastructure and/or operations. At least 75% of the earnings must be spend in direct support of its members.

END CHARTER

I will wait with the commercial and paramedic charters until this one is fleshed out a bit.

PS: Thanks aramike, I'll check it out (webspace)

Well, nothing special, needs _lots_ of work, but at least something is there.

Hehe, that's because its a premium service with all the fixings.

Where do you think PrimeFleet.com is being hosted?

Kind of forgot about this one.

Structure of the traders division:

Note that this is an achievement/experience based hierarchy, nothing to do with leadership!

Exception are the "Chairman" and the "Director", which (also) have an administrative role.

The amounts mentioned below can be in credits or their equivalent in goods (just thought them up, so they are subject to change).

"Director" (that would be me)

- Has a seat in the corporation's board of directors

- Responsible for running daily operations at the divisions base of operations.

- Responsible for inter-division contacts/activities

- Responsible for assisting a member to the next level (e.g. a junior trader to trader level).

"Chairman of the Board" (job's still open)

- Assistant to the director. Aids in daily operations and inter-division relations and activities.

- Replaces the Director when not present for longer periods of time

- Responsible for assisting members to the next level.

"Partner"

- Senior Trader that has earned the division at least 6.400.000

- has successfully travelled at least 3 new/difficult trade routes

- has demonstrated 'experience' by assisting at least 2 members to the next level.

"Senior Trader"

- someone that successfully completes several trading runs and earned the division at least 1.600.000.

- someone that successfully travelled 1 new or difficult trade route.

"Trader"

- someone that succesfully completes several trading runs and earned the division

at least 400.000 credits.

"Junior Trader"

- someone that just applied for membership and has recently been reassigned from the HR division to the trader's division.

The experience level influences the way that members are treated by the division. The more lucrative/dangerous deals tend to be given to the more experienced members. However,

when a junior trader is the only one that is present then it is given to him/her.

Naturally one is free to refuse it and wait for a less dangerous deal.

Non members are treated as junior members but do not climb in the hierarchy.

-----------------

As always, comments are welcomed.

Welcome, newbie, to the BC Universe. I'm Nova, the usual "welcome-wagon" to most newbies in the forums. Lets start with the basics:

GalCom, EarthCom, and the Insurgency, are military organizations. They have no affiliation with any Indie Guild/Corporation, and saving a GalCom ship, probably won't get you a reward. Just depends on who you're saving.

Also, GalCom is not completely Terran. The Terrans, Empirians, and the Vesperons are currently GalCom members. However, this does not mean that all people in these 3 castes have to be GalCom. The Insurgency is mostly (if not, 100%), Terran.

In conclusion, you aren't obliged to save GalCom ships, and you are not 'friendly' with GalCom, and you can't have a GalCom Terran Trader vessel.

----

As I said above, you might not get paid for your good deeds, towards other castes. Also, you shouldn't get in trouble for saving a ship or two that aren't in your caste, or even not in the corporation.

----

Man, I should start writing up a big book of BC Basics for the newbies. It seems like no one has even read the manual for BC3K..... Or, maybe I should just quit and keep saying RTFM?

Nah.

More words of wisdom:

And if you're trying to 'save' one of your friends in the Corporation, while attacking GalCom ships, you'll definitely be shot down.

As long as you don't cross the line, we can be okay, though. Just watch out. If you are at the point where you have to ask "how much is too much?", they you've probably gone too far, and you'll probably have to start running, if you know whats good for you.

So watch out on who you attack. You'll never know how many allies they may have.

----

Update: Just went to the Intercorp Site! Hehe, Hitman Incorporated!!! I think the name's gonna drive off those high-paying customers.

With the contract profits only? Can you buy "respect" by giving 1-2 milions to the division?

True, and if I'm desperate (and if FC Blades, or my Battle Group Leader approves contact with mercenaries), then I shall.

On the same note, if an aggressive caste (military, police, mercenary, raider, assassin, criminal; from the BC3K Castes Appendix (N)), of an emeny race is in our territory, WILL BE ATTACKED (GCO/BCM-Multiplayer Human Controlled Assets). This is what Orion Fleet has decided on enemy races.

But, if you're only a harmless caste (tourist, trader, paramedic, scientist, jounalist, explorer, diplomat, commercial, colonist; BC3K Appendix N), of an enemy race, then will be detained and interrogated. If we decide you're just lost, then we'll send you on your way. If we decide you're spies, you'll be imprisioned.

Just a snipet from the new Orion Fleet Rules of Engagement. So, for anyone who decides on being a Gammulan Trader, watch out where your trade routes are.

---

I think this is where you director guys shall come in. Start thinking and figuring out how to organize, so no one unnecessary gets killed.

Your job begins soon. And when BCM and GCO come out, you'll have to respect all Fleet's space, or one day you'll be dead in the water.

Check with other fleet officers to see their rules of engagement towards Indies, like you, so you can move your trade (and merc/assassin/raider) routes, towards neutral zones.

Bottom Line: Consider yourselves warned. This isn't a threat. I'm doin this to help you, remember?

Here's the post by Blades, just so you know:

quote:

Posted by Blades (Orion Fleet Forum):

Two ways you can deal with this. If it's a hostile of a caste that isnt normally recognized as being hostile (Such at Tourist) then you can treat them either as the hapless lost (In which case, you usually detain, interogate and debrief them) or treat them as spies (In which case you detain, interogate and imprison them).

However, since the majority of these visitors will be NPC's, it's best to let them know they are in the wrong neck of the woods (A few IOD blasts should convince them to vacate) or burn 'em up like toast.

Player controlled assets, however, should be warned away. If they dont comply, vape 'em.

Of course, any caste that isnt directly adversarial, but is of quasi-military origin (Police, for example) should be vaped.

Ah, sod it. If they wander onto my turf, and glow red - make 'em dead.

Isn't this right, Ep5?

BTW, keep it up Jeffery, and everyone!

Man did ya'll go crazy. I've been off for just about a day and there has been a slew of posts. So, Jeffery, you want to head up the Merc Division? I would but time is something I don't always have enough of. I would definately be willing so sign up as an advisor or some other similar role.

Some other notes:

1) No one in the corp is required to lend assistance to anyone else. BUT remember if you do, that person should remember it and hopefully return the favor one day. Though I will tell you, unless you have become my best friend in the galaxy. if I happen to find you with a bunch of (insert any military organization here) don't expect my help. I'll dutifully record the Mil ships giving your ship a sun roof and air (space?) conditioning and forward it to your next of kin.

2) Nova, what is the general outlook of Galcom towards the Syrions? Couldn't find out much about that in the manual, but I don't think they are considered hostile.

3)Whomever rated me THANKS!!!

4) We probably should set up some kind of system to stop the corp working against the corp. It would suck and be bad for business, to have say the merc div. taking out trader div. ships or the like. Now if you get hired independently that's another story, just mean hired from corp on both ends.

5) There should be a standard discount for interdivision hiring. Cheaper escorts for the Traders, more work for the Mercs, and more profit for the company. Any suggestions?

6) Jeff, any good ideas for the Merc Division name? "Have guns, will Travel" maybe?

7) Riga, like the ranking system. What are the benefits though? Greater discounts on parts and ammo maybe?

That's all for now. If I come up with anything else I'll post it later.

hehe, just a placeholder, need's some _minor_ adjustments

No really, needs some serious work, just wanted to have a working starting point.

Need to cordinate things with the others as well (Jeffery, input?)

As I see it, it can be the site for the traders division, or be the overall site containing all divisions. Dunno, need to speak to the others about that.

Uhm, that's where directors come in. They are supposed to deal with the inter-division stuff.

As for merc div. taking out trader div. ships? This cannot be since the division only has members, no ships.

At least the trader's charter (nobody commented yet, so I'll live by it for the time being) doesn't look further than the launchpad of its base. Whatever you do out there in space is all up to you. You're an indie for a reason!

quote:

This is how I see it:

- If you are a member of a division, then it will try to get you the most benificial deal (possibly at a discount). E.g. You're a trader and go to the trader's division.

- if you are member of the corporation and go to another division then it tries to do the same, but less. E.g. you're a merc and go to the trader's division.

- You're not a member and it will cost you a bundle.

Not happy with prices over at the other division but you're a member? Well, get to your own division.

This also discourages merc's to go the the assassins base to get a job, and vice versa. Much safer!

Just a thought though...

Might be, did not give it much thought yet, but it's a good idea.

Wow that's what I call response & interest.

Anyway, I'm just back for the moment and haven't had time to read up on all the posts. I'm just been out of town for 2 days on a emergency job. So once I catch up with the posts. I'll post something meaningful

BTW, I think we have put our ideas to tacops first, so that we can go ahead with our plans with their blessings.

Must come up a clear and concise summary just like a business plan to impress them

Riga, Malleus, Paddy and others try to get as many indies to join in as possible. Let's try to make it a large group effort. Ok

It's 11.25 pm over here, gotta get out of the office and go home and catch some winks.

Later.

Well, when you do get it over to Tacops, make sure it looks prefessional, at least. They're serious perfectionists! It took me like 5 re-makes to get the police logo that I was working on accepted!

Um, you're doing great so far. Keep it up!! I'm sure you'll be up and running before BCM is out!

What!!!No more posts? What happened to you guys?

Anyway, I'm just back, I just finished one of my proposed logos, will try to finish a couple more so that we can pick and choose which will be the official Intercorp Unlimited's organisation logo.

That's all for now.

Later

BTW, Nova, how did you insert your image? I haven't really done any website programming so, I'm not really sure.

Thanks for the info aramike..

But What does it mean by URL? Does it mean that I have to upload the image on the net first? If that's true, how do I go about doing that? If I can just connect it to my harddisk how do I do it?

You upload it to a free servise provider, and using the ubb code to direct a link to it...

You do not want to connect it directly to your hard drive because, then that will easily get hacked and people can steal valuable info from your computer or worse... completly erase your whole harddirve and the such...

YuY out...
