Unknown_Enemy
Updated : from 132 to 178 terms. Corrected some also. Thanks to Soback for reporting an error. If you find something wrong, please REPORT IT ! Looked again through the whole doc, but I could not find ASL (as reported by sc). Did someone found it ? Is it related to ASD ? At the moment ASL just means to me Advanced Squad Leader, which have not much relations to BCM...."I got a CH with my APPS on your SWC/MMC, we have to resolve this on the IFT."That was one of the fisrt sentence I heard while learning to play Squad Leader Wargame. But at the time, I had a wonderful glossary of all abreviations used in the rules. We don't have any in BCM. So I created mine while reading the manual. Of course, when I finished my glossaray I discovered that I do not need it anymore. But other newbie (like me) may get confused with the 178 abreviations used in the manual, and with the fact that a few one are used twice (MLS = main launch system & main life support)It's in CSV (; separated), 1 column is the abreviation (sorted), 2d column is its signification and 3rd column is the manual page where I first found it.So enjoy !6DOF;6 Degrees of Freedom;P71 A/P;Autopilot;P14 ACM;Advanced Campagn Mode;P7 ACTIVE;Active radar mode;P25 AE;Alter Ego;P6 AGL;Above ground level;P52 AI;Artificial Intelligence;P11 AID;Altitude Information display;P19 AIR;TACSCAN tracks airborne targets;P24 ALS;Aux. IRSWalker
Excuse the horrific off-topic, but I found a quotation today that I thought Gallion might like. Enjoy...... quote:Gerald Weinberg, "The Psychology of Computer Programming" We have come through a strange cycle in programming, starting with the creation of programming itself as a human activity. Executives with the tiniest smattering of knowledge assume that anyone can write a program, and only now are programmers beginning to win their battle for recognition as true professionals. Not just anyone, with any background, or any training, can do a fine job of programming. Programmers know this, but then why is it that they think that anyone picked off the street can do documentation? One has only to spend an hour looking at papers written by graduate students to realize the extent to which the ability to communicate is not universally held. And so, when we speak about computer program documentation, we are not speaking about the psychology of computer programming at all - except insofar as programmers have the illusion that anyone can do a good job of documentation, provided he is not smart enough to be a programmer. The source is stated at the begining of the quote. It's often considered one of the best books ever written about programming/programmers in general. Beaten to it. But it is definately a good read if you're a programmer.[ 12-11-2001: Message edited by: Schmendrick ]

Unknown_Enemy
What the hell is ASL in BCM ???????I read again the manual, but I just could not find it. HEEEELLLLPPPP !BTW what SC means by "Don't worry because he has a LONG way to go. Problem is, he doesn't know it yet.".At the moment I have been working only with the BCM paper manual as given in the box. Do you guys hide hundred pages of docs full of abreviations ?????If yes then be sure that I hate you all. Then point me in the right direction and I'll start working.
