BCM What are YOU gonna do?

Given the career choices I think it would be interesting to hear what people want to try. We already know Gallion has a match set up with a bunch of IC pilots. That would be fun to watch. I thinking one on one or four on four will be popular. Capture (x) station would be fun and if anyone gets a script going find artifact (x) would be fun.

That's not even counting the ground career options. What do you want to try?

Because of the open ended design, you guys can pretty much setup any kind of multiplayer rules you like.

Here are some ideas. Hopefully someone in the Beta would make a note of them and remind me to make any code/script revisions required to make them possible. If you guys in the Beta can think of any other variations, feel free to suggest them. Perhaps someone in the Beta can create a similar thread in the Beta forum? I'm too tired.

  1. CAPTURE THE POD: One team goes to the region of the other team, grabs their pod and tows it back to their region for points. This can be played in space and on planets and in any kind of career. However, in space, only ships would apply of course. You could have the pod carrier using a shuttle, escorted by fighters. I don't think we'll let capital ships in on this game. biggrin.gif

  2. STATION CAPTURE: Pretty straightforward I think. Capture the other side's station and hold it for as long as it takes them to get it back. Docking rules would be different though or it would be too easy since you can dock from 25 clicks.

  3. CASTE WARS: Different castes, one region, guns only, last man standing wins.

  4. NO WAY OUT: Asteroid belt, loads of AI mines, one unstable carrier about to go nuclear, two teams. The team with most people out of the region before the carrier blows (taking everything in the region with it), wins.

  5. ESCORT: An AI transport going from one region to another, escorted by one side - the other side has to destroy it before it reaches its destination.

  6. STANDOFF: Four regions, two teams, two stations. The team with the most kills at the end of the session, wins.

  7. GLOBAL DOMINATION: Several teams, lots of assets. The team with the most available assets at the end of the session, wins. Similar to STANDOFF but is much, much longer game.

Of course, there are variations of the above for surface based games.

How about four or five IC's vs one BC? I'd love to be in the BC for that.

Beat ya to it. wink.gif I did mean Gallion would be in the BC. I didn't make that clear though. That idea is from his "peashooter" thread down in Wraith forum.

And in hoonor of my good friend Rico Jansen I think Trade Wars would be fun. Timed match and whoever trades to get the most money wins. Sell your own stuff or find it in debris fields.

How about a transgalactic race? biggrin.gif With mines as hazards. Explosions would probably slow you down a bit giving the other guy the edge. IC's or shuttles.

On the ground it could be ATV or skimmer races. hehe,

Can we build our own race course? Maybe with GBS or some kind of tool?

Imagining building your own *maps* for a particular kind of game. Not a wishlist, just a wondering if something like this already exist...

Please stop, my friend, you make me blush. redface.gif

But a good idea. Unknown location until you launch from a base/station so you can't make up route lists beforehand, all on your own with just a shuttle with a mining drone, choosing your strategy in mining, cargosweep and trading. Very good.

Ehm, another thing we can try. Or atleast the marine contingent of the community will be interested I guess. Markmansship! Shooting contests. Either on static or moving targets. With the sniper rifle or just hand guns. Isn't that called a 'decathlon'. Skying and shooting? How about that?

Viva la Peashooters! biggrin.gif

Perhaps a combination of space and ground? A transgalatic race to a surface mission zone, then hop into a ground vehicle to race toward a capture point of some sort. When people get there, thier car is disabled, so everyone has to jump out in FPS mode and duke it out. Person who holds the point for 30 seconds (or manages to stay alive the longest) wins.

Side note: Isn't it cool that we can seriously propose this stuff?! I've seen FPS mulitplyer mods with rideable vehicles (C-S Jeep-o-thon), but something with so much scope I've never heard of! And this isn't even a mod, it's built right into the game! Yippe! biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

Oh My. What an expansive universe, a little imagination and some agreeing players will get ya. Just from the above posts, I can already tell that I'm going to spen entirely too much time playing this game smile.gif The real question is, though, which variant will become the most popular smile.gif

Thats a cool idea Whisper.

Anyway, the good thing about BCM is that you don't have to create new maps to do what you want. The parties just have to agree on specific rules, thats all. For some variations I have to put in server-side settings but I think thats pretty much it. After all, someone has to keep score and its not like you guys can be trusted to be fair biggrin.gif

Yep, marksmanship would be good too, we could paint a bullseye on SpacePhish.

SpacePhish, have you taken your meds today?

LOL! Those sound like fun. How about this:

(Insert Name Here)

The object is to run down the most enemy marines in a ATV as fast as you can however, most of them are armed with rocket launchers....>:D

here some more suggestions for multiplay, or matches.

a "hunted" sort of game. A BC is cloaked and has limited NOT infinite Iridium, the players are limited to a small playing arena, say 2-3 regions. and they have to find the cloaked ship. oh thats dumb frown.gif">.<P>Here's one, "outpost" limited to 2-3 regions, depending if you want the enemy base to be in a one-jump reach of you. Each team starts with a station, and the objective of each team is to destroy the opposing station, (while protecting their own of course)

what ya think?

Hm...how about a "Tour de France" meets a scavenger hunt?

For example. All players start at Earth and must travel to some system in the middle of nowhere. From there, they are given supplies and some clues that help them find where to go next. The clues would be unique to each player, so you don't get everyone following the only bright guy in the place.

Once they reach their first destination, they find a scavenger hunt item along with a clue for the next point...

In the end, everyone ends up back at Earth and whoever is first with all their prescribed items gets a cookie smile.gif

I imagine that would be a scripting nightmare though smile.gif
