The Perscan computer is limited to one page of information. This is a problem if the crew of a battlecruiser is too large to fit on it. For example, (800x600 resolution if that makes a difference) the Firestorm carrier's perscan computer will display information up to marine #36. No information can be gathered on the remaining marines, intruders, guests, or prisoners. A possible solution to this problem would be to add a 2nd page to the layout if one does not already exist.

If I'm not mistaken theres a little green arrow on the top left of the screen that will let you select additional pages.

Thank you Cmdr Nova, that fixed the problem. I guess I'll just escort those damn diplomats AGAIN. But this time I won't run out of radine a little bit after getting to Majoris because I actually know how to use Logistix now .

I have noticed something curious concerning drone recovery. I am on the bridge and whenever a shuttle recovers a drone (I have seen it happening with SC3, drone 3 but it might be any combination), an audio cue from a female officer informs me that she is leaving her station (or something similar), while the text display on the bridge says "SC3 has recovered drone 3" (and no officer leaves his/her station). It's not much of a problem, but someone might want to take a closer look at it.

Ok... here we go.... I installed the game straight from the box and it worked with DX 8.0a. I went to the web site on 11-24-01 at 10pm PST and downloaded the patch to the root BCM directory. I also downloaded DX 8.1 from microsoft. I installed DX 8.1 and then ran the patch from the BCM directory. I read somewhere in the forums that you were supposed to get a box prompting you for the code on the back of the CD sleeve... I got none. I tried to run the game and NOTHING happened. A little bit of HD activity and then nothing. The Close Program box did not show BCM running. I uninstalled BCM and killed the folder. Reinstalled it and tried to run it pre-patch. I got the Safedisc screen and then NOTHING. Just like post-patch. I downloaded and installed the patch again from the root BCM directory. Same results as the first time. NOTHING. I REALLY LOVE THIS GAME (even though I only played it for about 3 hours) AND AM VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY (get the idea yet?) FUSTRATED! I really don't want to have to return this. I even downloaded the latest version of media player just for kicks, no help there either. I downloaded (again) the 21.83 drivers for my Riva TNT 2, nothing changed. Downloaded the latest SB drivers, no good. Ran scandisk and defraged, no good. I also tried changing the CD to the other CD-R/RW drive.. same results... HELP! Oh, and tell Mr. Smart that he's on my list of personal heroes for his dedication to his customers. P.S. I did DL the nav stuff and that didn't change anything either.

I think you need to uninstall the game and kill the folder.

Download the latest WHQL drivers for that board (e.g. 2183) or 2280 and install them.

Download the patch again (you don't need the navdata patch as it is now included)

Install the game

Apply the patch

Run the game

Enjoy!

And if that doesn't work, I'm sure I'll be hearing from you before the end of the day.

Ok, not sure anyone has posted about this yet, but I'm able to repo this graphic glitch pretty consistently. When you launch from Earthstar station in Jupiter (easiest way to start is be Earthcom and choose Jupiter as your region), when you're viewing externally both your ship and the Earthstar station itself, the moon behind it while somes grow very large and become translucent with a white-ish tint. Anyone else seen this? Happens everytime I'm in there.

I have also noticed the problem while deploying drone 3. The research officer will say "Phased array IDO installed," complete with the text subtitles on the screen. A mild glitch.

SNG. Pick Elite Marine. Change primary gun to ZS10. Give guy a name. Accept.

Use DJP to go to Ins. Base somewhere.

Fire awhile at baddies.

Go to weapons station and get more ammo first.

...Game hangs. Not freezes, but I get a repeating sound effect of the weapons getting new ammo. I can move my mouse left and right but not get away from the weapon station and I never get the menu up again.

I have to ALT-Esc to get to desktop and kill the game from there.

I've done this twice with the exact same results.

Everything else seems to be OK so far. Great game.

Ahhhhhhh now I know why I get that message LOL Ive been getting that same message, but actualy, now that I think about it, I dont think its related to drone 3 because when ever I get it, I still have drone 3 (and shuttle 3 for that matter) on board. I was meaning to look in this myself to figure out what it was. Ive also had the message about the ORB artifact being installed, but havent been able to figure out yet what triggers the message (I get it during the first misson of the campain, as well as the other message relating to the IOD).

im gona play around with it a little to see if I can figure out when it comes on so SC can reproduce it.

IceCold, you are right about the messages when you deploy and pick up drones. Actualy, it only gives you the message once only for each of them. In nother words, when you deploy the next drone, it shows the correct message.

Steps to reproduce....

1.. Start new campain as default selection.

2.. Using tacops, zoom to a point on Earth, and set shuttle 1 (actualy works with any shuttle) to deploy a drone at a given way point (I only set one waypoint, no more).

3.. Launch shuttle.

Now as soon as the shuttle gets there and deploys the drone, you get the message about the Phased IOD being installed. Works every time I tried it.

Regarding the other message that appears when you recover it. Ive seen it, but I forgot to try it out to see when it happens (Sorry IceCold).

I may have time later to try it out.

This is something for SC to look at.

Works as designed. There are several moons in the region and the closest entity is getting rendered first. This anomaly is more prevalent in vid cards with 16MB or less.

If you fly away from Jupiter or one of those moons and then switch to the rear cam view, you should see the same thing.

The DATASOUNDFX.INI index file is probably off. I'll check it out.

I believe I might have found something interesting, it might also be linked to people seeing the fireworks on their screens after being damaged then fully repaired and still showing damage FX.

I was badly damaged, almoust every system. So I started repairing. First I repaired all of the systems listed in "CVD" under "SSR". Then continued with the rest. Here's a possible bug. The "SSR' screen in the "CVD" still showed all of the systems as being damaged (red). The systems are at 100% and working properly, and the color changed in "SSR" only when you are repairing (blue) but then it just goes back to being red. So even when your ship is fully repaired the SSR will still show the systems which were destroyed or badly damaged as being destroyed or badly damaged.

So maybe the SSR screen doesn't update properly and causes the computer to think that your ship is badly damaged and plays the damage FX. I got screenshots and a saved game if you want it SC, so if you want you can either try it out yourself or try my saved game, just post if you want it.

I found a minor issue with BCM. Actually, it's not so much an issue as a cheat loophole, maybe.

This is how to reproduce it and what it does:

Just a help out for those guys who can't get the game to run at all. When they get the safedisc screen its cause they have either dameon tools, nero burning software or some software like that...safedisc v2 checks for that and will not allow a game to run. heh took me forever to figure it out to make mine run...

oh yeah also playback will make it not run...

these are all files related to burning or safedisc stuff...I found it out on another board

hope this helps anyone...

Im actually having a LOT of CTD's. All of them when I dock a damaged ship to a station. Very frustrating. Trying to reproduce it but I cant seem to get it.

edited: wooo.. clicking miscon=ctd every time anyway..guess that feature is blocked for me. Heehee.

1. The SSR display works fine

2. The damageFX has nothing to do with internal systems. If the damageFX is persistent from *other* crafts, it has no relation to yours.

We're still investigating this one, so please don't confuse the issue with random speculation. If I need more info I'll ask for it.
