Problem with Campain (The future is now - redux)

When I start the Campain I no longer see Diplomat 1 leave the station. I can not find him anywhere in the system until He says " Good to have you along" (Or whatever he says). Then he is at the Pluto jump and I can't catch up with him. I have played it before and did not see this behavior and I suspect that it is happening in other areas as well. Has anyone ever seen this? Is there a solution?

I'm using the BC-MK3. I have sent my fighters out but they seldom come back if my CC is not nearby especially that early in the game. I don't know how you get around that but I would like to hear suggestions.

I don't think he is cloaking because he is at the pluto nav point imediately after I get his launch notification. The immediately part is what has me thinking I have something wrong.

Try looking for him on the Tacops map. Once you see him, zoom to him and place him on your priority list. At this point you can launch your fighters with the orders to escort Dipomat1 who would be on your priority list. Make sure you give your fighters the order to return to base when you see the message "Docking Approach to Majoris", otherwise they may try to follow him into the station and blow themselves up.... Early in the game their AI is pretty low.

As I've noticed during those early missions, fighter pilots sometimes stop escorting their designated target and tend to return to CC. The only way to get around it is to continously monitor their actions. After all, their command menus reflect the region they are in. That means you can see through their sensors anything that is in the region they are, even if you're not with them (e.g CC in EARTH - FC's and DIPLOMAT1 in MARS). So, if you see them in TARGET SEARCH, or anything else but ESCORT DIPLOMAT1, simply reissue the order to them. Be sure that they will hear you. They just are not yet smart enough to follow escort targets deep in space completely by their own.

Another thing: When anyone of your pilots says "hostile target identified", do not let him to attack!!!. He will propably have spotted an enemy ODS System, or even worse, an enemy Star Station. Tell him to continue with his escort mission, or else, you'll lose both your interceptor AND your pilots!!!

Believe me, it's absolutely no fun, having to buy another fighter asset and clone two pilots, especially with a mission in progress.

I hope these helped...

Use "Defend" instead of "Escort".

With "Escort" your fighters will attack any enemy targets in the region they are.

With "Defend" command they attack only the targets that are attacking (have "lock on") the vehicle your fighters are defending.

I hope I made atleast little sense here.
