I know my fleet members might be mad, but I was playing as a Gammulan Stormcarrier... cue evil laugh MWAHAHAHAHAHA!... and decided my target would be the Orion Space station in Centris. (Now this story is like many experiences I've had but this will give newbs a chance to see what all goes on in this game.)

Anyway I start out, my ship is in great condition, and I make my first hyperjump - no problems. When I exit hyperspace to get to the jumpgate, I am aquired by a radar lock. I afterburn all the way to the gate and don't see what's out there.

Waiting for my hyperdrive to recharge my officer tells me "There's something out there" and I get some static interference over my bridge viewer. A minute later - "Intruders on board"

Immediately I switched launch control to off. I was then in hyperspace with a battle going on between my marines and the intruders. I entered the next system and was confronted by raiders. They opened fire on my backside and I switched launch control on for an instant to launch two fighters.

3 launched - one of those bastards stole one of my interceptors.

I quickly powered back off and watched as the bastard behind me was cut to ribbons by my laser fire. I was ready to enter hyperspace, needed to pick up my two fighters. (forgot to turn launch control back on). As they were having trouble catchin up to me I hit reverse to give them some hurry. They slammed into the ass end of my stormcarrier and blew up...

After several obsenities I decided it was time to get this show on the road. I altered course to the jumpgate and entered hyperspace - and watched as enemy ships took up position where my exit aperture would be...

I came out of hyperspace to the greeting of my shields splattered with laser fire. I opened fire on the enemy ships and took one out before hitting the jump gate.

Jump to Centris. Orion Starstation - the big momma starstation. I powered on launch control and launched two interceptors to wreak havoc with the station. They did for about a minute before BOOM.

I jumped to the station and prepared to fight. I exited hyperspace and was pounded with lasers. Knowing that the station would waste no time focusing everything on me - I cloaked. I edged up to the station, got a firing solution with my missile tubes, and once I was close enough I met the titan in battle.

Laser fire and missiles filled the air. I launched missile after missile after missile and pounded with my main guns. Hull breaches reported across different decks, systems going down. I came close enough to reach out and touch it almost before spinning around the station. A few more hits and I was done for... but I was rewarded with my last flurry of missiles hitting home. The shockwave shook my ship but I watched as Orion starstation became pretty fireworks... (sorry guys - just testing y'know )

I didn't have much stuff left so I destroyed the remaining vessels and made a dive for centris as enemy capital ships entered the area and made a beeline for me. I landed on the planet and got out of my ship and looked up at it.

Wow.

Another short story is I was playing as a Galcom MI Marine with a sniper rifle and got on top of a building to pick off enemies. Then a bastard plane came overhead and strafed me to death. i thought that was funny.

I was playing around Centris, and saw a Gam/Merc Stormcarrier, with an RTB to Orion..... (See here for the story, and screenshots.) So it was $ilk..... That ship is huge! Really cool stuff.

-----

My latest BCM experience was when I was down on the surface of, I think, Midae (had to hide from "New America" somewhere; I was Ter/Mil), and when I had the autopilot land, I didn't realize that there was a slope on the way.... (That was probably only the 2nd time I used the land command. Was still trying it out and testing it.....) The ship goes down nice and slow, and then you hear *boom*, *scratch* *scratch* *bump* and I stop. Down to 70% integrity. Can't even take off under my own power. Can't launch a shuttle, because my reactors are down. Life support was down, as well. So I decided to leave the ship for a little walk around the planet, while everyone inside the ship was dying, gasping for air.

I think I'll land with my own skills, like I'm used to from now on. Yeah, I'll let Mother handle things like Inter-system navigating. Leave the planets to me, please.

I began my patrol in the sol system in my new Solnar cruiser. Seeing nothing I hypered over to pluto. Shortly after picked up a Ter/Ins Nightstar carrier on radar heading for me, I quickly designated 8 missles on the nightstar with my FATAL system. The following encounter lasted about 4 minutes.

After Destroying the Nightstar I checked my ship and crew over, having no damage or injurys I decided to head on over to Neptune.I hyper up and spot a Raven fighter on radar close by, so I raced after it I FATAL shot 2 missles at the fighter and watch them both veer off. The Raven fighter quickly turned tail and took off. I shot off after the raven. At this point in time I failed to notice two points. 1 where did this lone fighter come from, and 2 why was this fighter not outrunning me. I found out as static rippled across my viewers and my science officer reported that something was out there. At that momment blue flashes started splashing over my shields, damage reports started flooding in over my comm, lock on warnings blared and my EMD was down. on my front view I saw a ship appear from no where (at least now I know what caused the static) I pulled back on my flight stick trying to get away and egage hyper drive, of course from the messages I was getting I had this sinking feeling that there was now a large hole where my hyperdriver unit was. 5 seconds after that my ship my crew and myself became a large cloud of debris and plasma.

Heh still getting over the idea I was tricked and trapped by a computer AI.

Of course that is not a bad thing

Intruders = Not nice

I was playing as an Explorer. I was getting in a shuttle to study a planet. My ship is boarded - 5 intruders encounter little resistance as they easily slaughter my men. I run to the shuttle to escape. So do the intruders.

Game ends - I'm listed as captured MIA by the intruders.

Right now I'm probably sitting in an interrogation chamber with Blades looking on congratulating the Orion strike team for capturing me after I blew up Orion station...

That was intense imagining what was going on... especially after I click to launch the shuttle and see the crew compliment:

COOPER

INTRUDER #5

I desided to jump into a Aestrom and head to the New America Insurgent base.

After a long journey, 4 intruder bastards who manage to get by 40 marines searching for them and blast one of my pilots.

Finaly i made it to New America and cloaked up and lauched my fighter imediantly... only to find the bastards put that rock to close to be jumped to... ofcourse it was only a matter of time and all my fighters (save the pilotless one) where destroyed..

When i get with in 200klicks of the base they launch fighters. I cloaked up again, turned off the ptas and laugh as I opened up my main guns on the base. By the time i had the base into little pieces the entire crew was glowing.

I un-cloak and bam I'm being hit... by that supply station.(I forgot to install that update. ) angered i turn around re-cloak (Yes i have no concern for the welfare of my crew ) and blast blast that away.

My cloak draned half way into blasting the supply station. With both worthless stations gone I look around and find about 5 fighters bering down on me... I fiugre its time to get out...

Oh no.. i forgot about that strech thats not long enough for hyper.

about 10 missiles hit me... but nope i'm not dead, but nearly everything was damaged or destroyed, my AE desided it would be a good time to leave whats left of the bridge and was traped on deck 1.

Then the fighters leave me for dead... I sit there as the Engineer ralttles off damages... and then in that damn calm voice proclames the reactor is gonna go critical....

LOL, about 5 or so intruders beamed onboard, I dispatched about 7 marines to take care of them and had about 10 marines in the room where they get ready and then sit there waiting for orders. Well, one of the intruders decided to visit that room, he didn't last 30 seconds, the next time the system updated the perscan, he wasn't there.

I desided to leave my home base around Zenlon and since i upgraded my cruiser with new top of the line shields and engine i thought i'd look for gammulians or some other trouble. Being indie i have no duties exept to challenge and amuse myself

As as was passing through Sygal i saw a hostile insergent station. I desided not to jump on station's guns right away so i jumped into a small group of ships fighing near by station but outside its range.

Taking station head on was a suiside so i waited for some one else to engage the staton and keep its guns busy untill i close in.

2 mins later valkerie carrier jumped in as per my orders. As carrier came in range of radar exploded with red dots as it lunched 20 or so space marines towards station. Station replied with 2 fighters and 20 marines as well. While both sides were busy i got right nest to the station slowly lowering its armor. By the time carrier was blow to bits stations armor was at 5% Thats where i lowered my main gun to 10% and turned off my PTA and slowly began damaging station. As soon as station realized that battle was lost it sreamed SOS, thats when i quickly docked with it ordering my marines to spread around it and take the the first base for the mercs. and so i got my first station for all mercs out there.

But outside those pesky marines where still flying around eachother (but not shooting wish intruders did that in my ship)

(The strange thing was that station wasnt using all its guns on me or val. carrier. only 1-3 at a time. May be Stations PTA was targeting enemy marines but not fireing on them. It should probaly ignore them, or taking stations will be way easy)

For my first post on these forums, here's a war story.

I'm in a Firestorm Super Carrier (YEAH! Only problem is I can't upgrade to the most powerful shields or reactor, which ships allow that and which dont?) I'm ordered to defend diplomats, and especially watch Tulon station on the 2nd ACM mission. Instead of directly escorting the diplomats, I decide to resolve the problem of Tulon station by capturing it. I jump in-system and cloak, hyperspacing directly to Tulon. Before the station knows it, it's lost most systems are releases an SOS, which I immediately use as an excuse to board the station and make it my own. I launch, and less than 2 minutes afterwards, a couple fighters blow up the station.

I proceed to remain near the station for awhile, deciding to destroy any ships finding out what happened to their precious station. Occasionally, a Starcruiser or Aestrom jumps in, heading directly for me. I target the expected area the hyperjump will end, lock about 4 missiles on them via FATAL, and destroy them before their engines power back up after the hyperjump. Eventually, a few fighters manage to get good strafing runs on me, and do a little damage, damaging my reactor. I immediately repair it and clear the radiation, and I decide to head back to GALCOM HQ to repair and collect my mining drones, but then 2 Warmonger Heavy Cruisers with fighter escorts jump into the system. Going against my better judgement, I engage the Gammulan Warmongers man to man(my fighters weren't ready for launch). I destroy one with relative ease, but the other one continues to pound me. I finally come around and blow up the other one with manually aimed direct hits with my main guns. Then the damage reports start coming in.

"Fighter has been destroyed"x2

"Fighter bay had been destroyed"x2

"Reactor has been damaged"

"Bridge has been damaged"

"Officers Quarters one has been damaged"

"Medibay...."

On and on. Deck 3 was radiated with no radiation control unit, but my engines were still in one piece. Somehow I managed to deal with a couple more fighters on my way back to Galcom HQ, but 2 jumps away from SOL my computer wasnt jumping me. I switch off auto-pilot. "Unable to computer jump profile" WHAT?!?!? I'm 2 jumps away from Earth after destroying 2 Warmongers, and it wont jump! I check my cloaking system, no iridium left. My reactor is down to 11 radine, shields had to be turned off to maintain engine power. Red dots appear on my scanner from a long distance away. I immediately remember I have shuttles that are still in one piece. I can tow myself back to Galcom! I order my AE and a number of marines to the shuttles, and then....nothing. I do it again and watch perscan. The marines refuse to move to the shuttle bay....must have been some damage to bulkheads. I watch scanners and the enemy ship are 30 seconds away. I look at perscan again and notice some system engineers in the shuttle bay! I order them into the shuttle and to launch. With 15 seconds left, i'm locked in a tractor beam and on my way at maximum speed back to Galcom HQ. Upon docking, I am promptly levied a violation and experience drop for Dipolmat4 not docking (although it docked about 15 seconds later...must have been a bug). I check logistics and notice that i've lost two fighters that were docked, and most of the ship is a wreck. I note that it's going to take a couple hours (real time) for repairs. I buy a JAC (with money I collected from mineral mining), send my crew off duty or to the medibay (what's left of it), and shoot some pool at Galcom HQ as JAC and the Galcom engineers repair my excuse for a CC.

I was returning to Gamma-1 to pick up my mining drone. Well, before I engaged my hyperdrive to fly to the flux field some ship decloacked right beside me and opened fire. I ususally fly with shields set to 1/4 and weapons down so save on resources (not anymore). This whole thing was about 5 hours into the game. Well, it decloacked and opened fire right away, and I started receiving damage reports. I scrambled most of my fighters (some were destroyed in their bays), raised shields, weapons and started fighting my ship. We were at it for about 2 minutes, I was looking bad, I thought I was going to die, so I set most of my missles on him, (my weaopons pod 2 exploded and some of my missles went with it), and after about a minute of more fighting he paid the ultimate price. I started assesing the damage. EVERYTHING was damaged, leaking radiation, condition red. I can't even engage hyperdrive. So I started fixing the systems, life support first, then reactor and then engines, I didn't have enough stuff to fix them fully but still, anything would help. Then I realized that I can't engage hyperdrive (engine too damaged?) So I ordered a marine to go into the shuttle, but weird thing, since the ship is on status red, all personel just default to on-station status. So I was continuously on that marrines arse about going to the shuttle and whenever the system would default him to on-station I ordered him to the shuttle and that way eventually got him there (the captain never leaves the ship, is my rule). Ordered him to tow me to Gamma-1 since there is no station in Tyrinis. About half way through the hyperjump I get a notice that the reactor core is overheating, so this might be it. Eventually we get into the Gamma-1 system but there's still a matter of him towing me to the station, and he picks the time to mess around. Whatever order I give him he executes something else but that order, maybe has something to do with my coms being shot to hell. So I tell him to disengage tractor beam and call in for tow. About 5 minutes later I am still waiting for tow and get another message of Reactor core overheating, not going down like this, not after this long. So I say screw the tow, and start barking orders at the shuttle again. Well, this time he finally towed me to the station and then the tow calls in asking if I still require it. What do you think? NO. So I dock with the station and start packing heavy on repair minerals and spare parts FOR EVERTHING, CC, fighters, shuttles. Undock and order my crew to repair the ship. By the way, surprisingly only 5 people died in this whole thing. 2 marines, 2 medics and 1 flight engineer. Well, for the past 2 hours I been picking up my mining drones and licking my wounds, running everytime I hear the alert siren. Got the ship half fixed. Going to go put her in good shape. Later.

So, final and very hard lesson learned. No matter how many resources you save with shields set lower and weapons off, DON'T DO IT. In the end it's just not worth the lives and the trouble.

All I have to say is this:

How many other games are there that would actually allow for war stories like this? With detailed stories, damage, danger, management (i.e, if your reactor is damaged, you may have to cut power to shields to give power to launch control), etc. I think this is the only one. Gotta love BCM!!!!

Ah yes... heres another war story...

Anyway I wanted to pass time while waiting for my mining drones to fill up...

Well, lately the insurgents had been giving me trouble so I decided... Wouldnt it be nice to take out new america?

I decided this would be good... So I took a loooonnnngggg journey to new america (hey, it isnt that far but in a firestorm the trips seem to take forever) anyway along the way I blew away a couple of enemy ships.. No biggie.. I also took out a star station for beaming intruders on my ship. (intruders REALLY piss me off.. I have about 12 prisoners in my ship that im going to beam down to a planet and personally execute them myself) Well, continueing on-- when I exit the jump point to new america I notice one thing.... Too close for a HJ... In a firestorm 700 away... Jeez that only fueled my urge to blow away the place.. There was a line of ships flying to new america... Some of which were terran military like myself looking to waste the place I suppose.. But alas... Ter/Mil ships were ripped apart by NA and its fighters... I suppose they had nothing else to do so they decided to kill me... Not wanting to deal with the fighters I sent out 6 of mine .(the other 2 were too smashed up from awhile ago) I had them stay close to the CC because I saw the hail of PTA fire come from NA tear everything up and I didnt feel like buying new fighters... Of course this is where it got ugly....

I was getting a little close to NA so I ordered the fighters back... One fighter got destroyed but the others were comming... Or so I thought.. 2 fighters were stuck out there... the pilots dead.. (and poor hellraiser docked but died before he could get to the medibay. *sniff* poor guy) Well, I would have continued on but I didnt want to let perfectly good fighters get destroyed by the enemy fighters... So I ran and picked up one... Of course that disabled shields and the fighters ripped through my hull.... ---the horror---.... nobody on the flight deck stood a chance... The medibay seemed to be exposed to space because there was no longer a medical officer and what was left of the medics were standing outside of what used to be the medibay... Numerous other things were blown apart..

Like personal quaters 1... poor sods who were off duty ... some of em made it out ...

A bunch of other things were leaking rads and everything else... besides that NA beams 6 intruders onto my ship... As if the marines werent in enough trouble since they were really messed up also (considering troop quaters was also a victim).. But anyway the good ol PTA turrets dispatched of one of the fighters... The other one of my stranded FC's was destroyed... I was pissed and wanted REVENGE!!!! I went at NA full speed taking all kinds of blows ..(i upgraded my hull to max so I could take alot of hits) Things started to read malfunction on the bridge but i pressed on... I locked on to NA and launched a full barrage of msl's on that damn place... heh I tore it up pretty bad and my PTA started ripping the place up... I was being chased with no hope for survival so I went into the canyons of NA and went straight for its heart... I got there and began shooting everything I had... I saw NA's hull level go down...and down... 230 hull left... At that everything began to malfunction the PTA's last shot brought it down to 23... I had one last shot in my main guns (considering the NRE had been critically damaged).. I fired ... It hit... And new america (hehe or should i say FORMER New America) had bitten the dust... (a little while ago I asked for a tow ship and to my luck, one was comming) Oh course as for my ship... Well.. It was on the disabled list... I checked perscan... Out of the 117 crew (+9 prisoners) less than 29 remained... (by the time the TOW came and I got life support back online there were 23 crew left)....

Now im repairing my firestorm and trying to get it back to 'operational' status.. Of course that will take a long time since... Repairing and replacing everything (mostly replacing) costs ALOT of money... I cant even pay to recruit more slaves---err crew...

Short but sweet...or bitter, maybe.

As a Terran/Military Commander, I was on a routine patrol of the solar system, stopping by each planet's sector in the line. At Mercury, things were clear but for one ship, a firestorm, I believe. I tore it to pieces. On to Venus, it was totally clear of aggressives, mainly just some neutrals, so I went back to Earth space and decided to skip Mars for Jupiter sector. Big mistake. As I hypered in, there were many aggressives, trying to take out the Earthcom station at...Ganymede, was it? Anyway, I thought I'd help out our EC "buddies" and went to attacking. I was able to take out a few, but something locked on to me. I don't remember what it was, but I remember finding my closest attacker only a mere 50 km away. The PTA's of that ship must have ripped my hull open, because the bridge crew were screaming damage reports in my ear. Well, systems were going down left and right. Power was being reallocated to whatever needed it, and I was practically dead. Worst part: They destroyed the bridge, killing Resnig(aww, too bad. ), and the ship was forced into autopilot. I tried telling it to hyper out back to Earth sector, but no go. Finally, I heard "Warning, acquisition" and then...game crash. Must've been all the missiles out and about.

Kind of anticlimactic, huh?

As you can tell by my Sig, when multiplayer comes out I will be in a Fighter. There is no time like the present to practice a little. So I pick up a Raven (still trying to decide what fighter I want to stick with)and some Vagrants , and head out. There is not too much to play with so what the hell, a station sound like a good target. I decided to pick on Pixan. I start doing strafing runs on the station. Get point blank range and fire 10 Vagrants at it, jump out of the system and reload, then come back and do it all over again. The Station put up a good fight, but in the end I make a mistake and miss capturing it. BOOM!!!! Oh well there are other stations....People keep talking about this New America.

My poor Questar was boarded by 8 intruders. My 5 marines were quickly whacked to 12% life.

Funny thing was, my marines were all ordered to medibay.. and the intruders apparently did nothing for the next 10 minutes. Then I got a message that Cargo Bay 1 had been damaged, I checked it, 19% on red.. ouch.

Then I checked the perscan, all intruders were dead.

MWAHAHA. Guess they decided to smoke next to the O2 tanks.

I started a new roam scenerio early this morning (about 0130 or so) as the great Cmdr Rentacar Hertz in command of the Firestorm GCV-Chunky Monkey

I launched from the Orion station and I was flying around in the system kicking the crap outta stuff then towing it in for money and experience. I had just finished grabbing a disabled transport when several red dots popped up on my TACSCAN screen. I checked them all out, but they were all still in hyperspace, so I decided just to jump back to Orion station and deliver the ship.

Well, about halfway through my jump, the enemies finished theirs. Most of them were fighters or tiny ships, and the station chewed them up and spit them out. One, though, was a medium sized cruiser (I think...I forgot to check what type of ship it was, I just remember it was green and smaller than mine. ^_^;;; Hey, it was late...) I switched my camera view to take a look at it and it was beating the station pretty harshly. PTA lasers were going everywhere, both from the station to the ship and from the ship to the station, but the station took a lot more hits. Well, I finally came out of my jump and fired up my engines to full throttle as soon as they were operational. Being in a rather slow Firestorm, it took me quite some time to get there. I selected a missile and set the aiming reticle over the enemy ship, but it was still out of range.

I got to about 70 klicks away when BOOM, the station goes. "Aw, crap," thought I, "there goes my source of income." Yeah, I'm kinda shallow like that. The other ship turned and starting coming after me, then, which brought it in range. It was pretty badly hurt from the fight with the station, and after just a couple missiles and some salvoes from my main guns it was dead in the water...er, space. Unfortunately, I seemed to have fired one salvo too many, because it exploded right next to my ship, damaging quite a few of my systems, but, surprisingly, destroying none. Too bad the systems it had smashed were my reactor's cooling system and my engines. So...no engine power to do a HJ to another station and not enough power to get launch control on to get a shuttle out to tow me. Well, I had my engineers fix the reactor first, since I was missing three parts for the engine, and so my power was back up to full when they were finished. I decided not to launch a shuttle to get me out of there just yet, however, as there were still like a billion SF marines floating around. I launched my undamaged fighters and was assailed with all my pilots saying "Bogies inbound, inbound." every few seconds... I wanted to yell at them, "They're just marines! Go fly into them or something!" Well, for my part, I went around trying to snipe the marines with my main guns. That's a pain, let me tell you... I got sick of it and just started launching missiles at them. It was about 0300 by then, though, so I figured I should head to bed.

Perhaps further news of Cmdr Rentacar Hertz and the GCV-Chunky Monkey will be forthcoming later on.

I was doing a routine run from Pluto to Orion of various commodities, when I noticed that there was a horde of SF Marines outside the station. Not realizing that the main weapons on my carrier can't hit such small targets, I open fire on the marines. After a few shots, I decide this isn't working, so I hop out into FC1. I go around shooting the guys without problem. Except that I've gotten really far from my (halted) carrier. What I didn't notice was that other hostile craft had entered the system. There I am, flying around, when BOOM. There goes my carrier....and my career.

Lesson: ALWAYS keep track of your CC. If it dies, your career is over.

"as there were still like a billion SF marines floating around."

I'm going to do something about that in the next update (which also has more laser fire optimizations for vastly improved speed during massive battles) because the capital ships and stations are launching too many SFMs.

Yeah, there are too many SF marines, but they are also too stupid. I saw two opposing factions in one game fighting over a station (fighter craft were attacking each other), but the marines weren't anywhere near the station, and they weren't killing each other... It seems they also need some more intelligence.
