No. The only time they will take injury when on a planet is if they are hungry, injured by weapons fire or if they catch an infection or radiation.

If you notice, all crew (except for the cmdr) have protective head gear.

Yeah, makes me wonder.. how can a commander survive on the atmosphere-less moon, on the toxic mars, the irradiated +750 kelvin mercury and in Antarctic? And over that, how can someone hold his breath 3 mins.. he's a military starship commander, not an olympic athlete... not even movie characters last that long.

well then how come my crew started losing life when I parked my cc on earth and shut down the reactor to save on radine?

I mean come on...stupid crew just open a window!!

so for the crew NOT to die off like that...does one have to take them all down to the surface?

and it couldn't have been food or radiation because I had a ton of food, had no radiation warnings...and well...EVERYONE was losing health...even my AE.

The commanders have a thin polymer headgear that is specially contoured to this head. Think of it as what would happen if you pulled Saran wrap over your head and pulled it tight. Only in this case, it is a super-duper kinda technology only found in the year 3000 and beyond. So expensive that only commanders have them.

..thats my story and am sticking to it.

And while you're at it, repeat this three times and wash it down with two Aspirins : Its only a game.

If that is not a contradiction......

No. I understand about keeping new techs and all but there are "real" limits and constraints I believe should be considered. It's for the "feel" Science fiction.. means based on real scientific facts

From the Merriam-Webster Online dictionary

quote:

Main Entry: science fiction

Function: noun

Date: 1851

: fiction dealing principally with the impact of actual or imagined science on society or individuals or having a scientific factor as an essential orienting component

and

quote:

Main Entry: 1fan┬Àta┬Àsy

Pronunciation: 'fan-t&-sE, -zE

Function: noun

Inflected Form(s): plural -sies

Etymology: Middle English fantasie -- more at FANCY

Date: 14th century

3 : a creation of the imaginative faculty whether expressed or merely conceived: as a : a fanciful design or invention b : a chimerical or fantastic notion c : FANTASIA 1 d : imaginative fiction featuring especially strange settings and grotesque characters -- called also fantasy fiction

(irrelevant associations are cutted out)

If the game has no or little relevance to actual science, then it's a fantasy game (FF games... mako). If it's based mostly on real facts with plausible new techs it's a science fiction. But still it keeps a strong scientific base.

Since this is a game, I am only limited by my imagination. I quote, "In a Roam scenario, you are free to do as you like, within the scope of the game and limited only by your role playing imagination." (I actually read TFM and this quote is from the page seven, Assignment - Roam Mode section, paragraph two, sentence one.)

I had never played as a bad ( ) guy in a RPG before so I decided to try it out. Once! I don't plan on doing it again as Doctor X committed suicide in remorse for shooting system engineer #1 in the back and head 20 times.

Come to think of it, my allies (friends?) were wary of me when we played the all-night Risk games...

LMAO!!! Damn, you guys are funny!

....can't wait for multiplayer. As much as some of you hate it when I come down on you like a ton of bricks, I'm sure that all will be forgiven once you see just what mp is meant to me.

My Firestorm is sitting on Earth. I (my AE) is in shuttle one shlepping minerals and spare parts between Galcom HQ and Wraith (I love those 30% inflation rates).

Anyway, I notice a lot of explosions near Earth and find that it is a Credian Warmonger.

The Warmonger is there several hours later just sitting there. I decided that we can't have enemy warships sitting in our space so I jumped in a Zenstar and loaded it with 8 Starchilds and 2 Questors.

I target the Warmonger and I get an "Aquired" warning. The Credians take off running so I pull up behind them at 40 clicks and match speed. I blew the Warmonger's shields out with the missles and was not having any luck with the laser. I was ready to head back for a reload and thought, what the hell...I will have the auto-pilot do the work.

It worked...just before the enemy Warmonger exploded they launch a missle in desperation. I hit ECM and headed back to homeplate. (Laughing all the way)

It was a lot of fun knowing that my missles had range over the 30.5 main gun limit of the Warmonger. I still can't figure out what they were doing just sitting there though...

Well, I'm not very experienced player in BCM, but after all, I tried SYR/MIL roam scenario. Started up with Firestorm class carrier with prime base of Starpath, Mars region.

Main motto (and goal) for my gameplay was:

"Inefficiency will NOT be tolerated".

That sentence seemed to be a good idea, but in first 3 hrs of playing I had to personally execute, as following:

- 2 flight engineers - for killing 10 marines in high-altitude shuttle drops on Mars' surface.

- 4 marines - for low combat efficiency (6 from their squad died on surface from gunfire)

- 1 medic - he was on "search" duty and accidently got into the #1 shuttle when it launched. Court martialled for that.

- Hellraiser and Roamer - for non-kill combat mission against TER/INS Warmonger

- Paul Resnig - 6 times. For overall performance. (inventory used for executions of CO:

2xwristlaser, 1xscat pistol, 2xcombat rifle and 1xHAV's main guns )

Well, at least I found an extremely good reason for putting Cloning Module onboard CC - cloning Resnig (isn't that right SCmdr?).

All of executions were performed on the surface of Phobos. By myself. 'twas fun...

After all of that, one thought came to my mind - who will execute ME for inefficiency...

Well, this game is twisted. I decided not to think of any more mottos when starting a new game.

I was playing around with Fleet C&C and decided to order 6 ships to escort me *2 VIOLON's

and 4 sentry class cruisers* I pointed my ship to the nearest gammulan planet and attacked a base unfortantly my ships sheilds went down and my engines were knocked out and the impact destroyed all my shuttles so I called to a tow and while waiting hopped out and watched my fleet decimate the gammulan base *PTA turrets fire everywhere!* right about then the enemy base launched fighters and manged to force a sentry to crash land on the surface

*have a screenshot of my Megaron and a Sentry sitting side by side and a violon with pta's fireing at an exploding mantis* Eventualy the ships that were still flying were damnged to the point where I orderd them off and since my tow wouldt get me out alive from the enemy fighters I tryed to take off only to not have enough engine power to do more then skid along the surface and die in flames

And I thought base assults were fun on the ground! Next time im going to order more ships and land my marines on the surface and do a ground assult at the same time!

What you should do is deploy marines into the middle of the base (I am assuming that you have the script update mentioned in the VCF) before starting an air assault. Usually, they end up blowing up the pads that launch fighters, as well as the sals and sams.

2 hours into a new game...

Gammulan Stormcarrier "Lawgiver" blasted it's way deep into Syrion territory to Obsidia via flux fields starting with the one near Recara. Commander Dredd, after taking on many Syrion Military ships (including a Stormcarrier? ...didn't think they had those), got into a shuttle to investigate a "Gal/Exp Unknown Contact" (since tests with other crafts showed they recieved damage) on the planet, looking like a probe. Upon entering the atmosphere of Obsidia, the probe transmitted a message along the lines of "...beware stargazer...we are coming". Not enjoying being threatened Commander Dredd landed next to the probe, entered the OC, drove it out of the shuttle, and blew the probe into many little pieces. Dredd returned to the shuttle, entered orbit, and flew through the wormhole marked "Supernova".

In Supernova, a flux field was detected along with a planet named "Stargazer". Stargazer had a "Gal/Exp" region on it, but no objects showing up on scanners. Dredd flew down to the planet (totally white planet, very weird) and set his shuttle down in the region and entered his OC again, but upon driving it out of the shuttle, he had absolutely no control over it. It just drifted forward at a speed of 6. Dredd immediately ordered the shuttle to retrieve the OC in fear of drifting across the barren planet forever. Knowing that there was nothing else to discover, Dredd returned to his CC and launched two probes, one for each region, and realized that he had run out of plutonium for his shields. At the same time, Syrion Battlecruisers started showing up near the flux fields needed to get back to Recara (the nearest neutral base). Dredd launched his 8 fighters to defend the CC which managed to destroy a total of 3 cruisers, 2 heavy carrier, and 8 fighters total on the trip back to Recara. Dredd promptly killed all of the Syrion Scientists on Recara, and all surrounding tourists and other ships, and captured the base for the might of the Gamulan Empire, to use as a staging base for taking over the Syrion Quadrant and eventually all of the galaxy.

...it was fun if you were there. (and you werent Syrion)
