...You're reading the section of the manual on the cloaking device when you come across 'telltale static ping' and go 'HUH?' Then see your systems screens flicker with static for a second, followed by a carrier decloaking and reducing your PUNY armed freighter to something akin to SLAG.

And all you can do is blink...

-----
...When you exit a planet to go to the local station and wonder why the heck you can't hyperjump the 900 KM range to it.

...And then you turn around and finish installing the latest updates, and realize that since the Station was moved out to 35000 km (Earth Standard Geosync Orbit interestingly enough...), you now CAN hyperjump out to it.

When you exit from a planet after finally getting two full drones full of minerals and ore only to see an enemy carrier coming to bear on you.... And you think it wants only the cargo..

Starting a career as EF-Pilot, then trying to reach the next enemy ground base. My fighter ran out of energy shortly before I reached it. The last klicks on foot, then a glorios attack via laser-pistol. Well... I managed to kill one marine....

When you think "nice planet, let's land to admire it", and then realize that Jupiter don't have a ground in fact.

When you think you are a great commander (after having capture a dozen starstations) landing on a planet, and try to exit in first person mode for the first time.
Looking at the keyboard commands you just read : f,z = jetpack hoover. Using z "-wow i'm flying, flying, flying...", release "-let's go back to ground" and finaly hurt yourself to death, like a fly collide to a car windscreen.

When you try to tow a disabled sol-air vehicle whit your CC.

When you think " let's destroy this station with my powerfull STS-STARFLASH missiles"

When you get your first RANDOM missille, and use it to the first planet you find, witch is actually only inhabited by ally/neutral.

When you sit for FIVE MINUTES scratching your head, wondering why the hell your dead pilots won't start the cloning process. Then your eyes wander towards the lower right corner and FINALLY register the nondescript grey letters forming the phrase: "Medical officer is unavailable".

Then you spend another TWENTY MINUTES before you activate your Tactical computer and discover the Medical officer is off duty.

When you do not even know who Resnig is...

(PS: Seriously, who -IS- Resnig? I think my crew automatically spaces him before I enter the ship)

...when you used your CC like a fighter to shoot down other fighters completely ignoring the PTA system and your own FC.

You keep flying through a jump point and are getting frustrated because you DON'T jump, you just come out the other side, only to realize later that you actually have to have the jump point targeted first....

You give Resnig command over the craft while you're out on the beach, come back and see that

LOL Resnig is like that. He looks alot better with his head in the trash compactor. And it keeps him from committing stupid acts like that one.

You constantly launch your fighters immediately after pre-flight inspection and find you have a few FEngineers going along for the ride.

You thought it would be a good idea to "acquire" a few CAS gunships via your CC's tractor beam, in spirit of the TER/INS role, only to find they take up valuable real estate in your launch bays, indefinitely.

It took you 4 years of playing this game to finally disable the Windows key.

In your valiant effort to rid the neighboring star systems of evil and corruption you assign your fighters a "Defend->Support Unit" order, assuming it means the same thing as "Escort", except with a purpose. Next you're wondering why they hypered to the nearest enemy ODS only to be vaporized into the next life.

Assuming the countless threads concerning Resnig where created to scare small children, you give him the benefit of the doubt and break for lunch. Now the flaming wreck that was once your beautiful CC is drifting into Sygan's atmosphere and all your can do is enjoy the ride.

You're cleaning the bridge windows from outside when Resnig gets in the mood of flying around to the other edge of the town.
