Finished ACM Campaign - SPOILERS!!!

Recommended Posts

Let me first state that I in no way claim "my" RC7 problems are bugs or that any one else may even encounter them, this is a Release Candidate and not the final patch. That said here we go.

Made it to LV-103 with minimal problems, major task was keeping fleet members from suiciding against enemy StarStations. Upgrades, trading, Radine cost, repairs all worked well. Lost 1 of the 4 diplomats on way back towards GalcomHQ lost expected xp. For some reason, I lost about 10,000 xp between the point shortly "after" losing the diplomat. I had no probes out and all ships in same system, I did attribute the possibility that some xp was lost in the time I was waiting for some of my ships to HJ to me, as there existed the chance a "blue" ship was lost to an enemy in the system my fleet was jumping from.

But upon arrival to GalcomHQ and a total loss of a bit over 15,000 xp I severely doubted it. So I started keeping track of all activities of all ships in the systems I passed through.

Upon my arrival to a certain system where a scripted ambush awaits "I believe its scripted"

I destroyed all enemy ships with a loss of only 2 fighters and still lost xp. The destruction of ZEL and or CRED are giving -xp not +. The ambushers were ZEL and I received the - equivalent xp for their destruction. All enemies I destroyed throughout were of course RED.

But this was made all good in the end, as I jumped into LV-130 (which is your delivery point)

I started receiving non-stop xp, I saved quit restarted and jumped out of the system and I am still receiving xp, I am Supreme Commander with over 9 million xp and 81 each of the Commanders shields, Star of Merit, Order of the universe. I quit shortly there after.

I have never had a CTD since starting this game the original save was an RC4 with every RC copied over as they came out.

And I now have 3 dead prisoners permanently stuck in detention.

Any else finish this without my problems?

Willing to reload a fresh install and only RC7 and try again but I just want to be sure I do not waste my time again. I want to try the TOW through Flux point trick out.

You will lose a significant amount of EPs for each diplomat that you lose.

I will look into the non-stop XP issue later

If dead prisoners are not removed when you dock at a station, thats a bug.

I have found (and fixed) the problem in the scenario script which leads to repeated EPs being awarded. I had an out of place event that wasn't checking a flag.

Ok, thank you, I would like to try the mission again, will this be in RC8?

Question, in the first mission are any xp deducted based on time? I am going to keep good track of my xp as I go and will not post anything further on lost xp till I can recreate it.

Thanks.

Yes, it will be in RC8. Also, if you have a saved version of it, you can just resume (prior to the part where you reach the final destination) in RC8.

No. EPs are only deducted/awarded based on events (e.g. the diplomats being destroyed, arriving safely, you destroying certain hostiles etc). Bear in mind that apart from the EPs added/deducted by the script, EPs will also be added/deducted based on events occuring in the underlying game world e.g. if you destroyed AG hostiles, you will get EPs

Tip: If you encounter hostiles which have names in the CVD (i.e. not just the ship type/class), then you know it is an entity that is part of the scenario and you should pay close attention to it. You get EPs if you destroy it, you don't if someone else does.

Actually, so you don't have to wait for RC8, I will upload the script later tonite so that you can go ahead with it.

Great, SC. I had the same problem with ACM mission 1. Will the script be available here or in some other thread?

Thanks.

I have uploaded a revised version of this script if you folks want to try it out. You will need to restart the campaign scenario.

Also, the RC8 patch will include this new version (or a further revised version), so you MUST delete this from the MODS folder when that patch comes out.

This version is a bit more challenging. It also includes higher rewards (since its a pretty difficult campaign) and some hints. e.g. any ship you encounter and which is created by the scenario, now has a name (in the VDD). And you destroying any of those yourself, gives you higher rewards (EPs, medals etc). The ultimate goal is to ensure that all four diplomats dock at the station and you will get a BIG reward!!. You do NOT get this reward unless ALL of them make it.

I tested it and the repeated EPs issue is gone (I had a misplaced signal directive in a timer and I wasn't checking the flag under certain conditions).

Just download the script file and unzip it into your game folder. Both of the files it contains will go into the MODS folder.

In case you were wondering - yes, its like a whole new script because I made some other revisions so that you didn't feel like you were just playing the game thing all over again.

Correct me if I'm wrong SC, but by restarting the campaign because of the script, we would be unable to use our RC 7 save games right?

In the past, when you've made revisions to the game we've always been able to use our previous saves. Are you saying that a revision in the campaign script provents use from using previous saves? Or am I just spouting rubbish and misunderstanding you like always? (and if so, please enlighten me oh great one)

Edit: After completing the first mission without this script, I found it was TO easy, so I think I'll try this script the only real difficulty is getting enough money to fund that radine guzzling reactor/engine, but hey thats where the challenge is

I have no idea what you're talking about. The campaign script needs to be restarted if you want to play it. I don't see how that has ANY effect on your previous saved games - as long as you don't try to play a saved game of the previous version of the campaign script.

Ok, i think i missed something somewhere. Ive reached LV130 with 3 ships, Shiven, Macradis and Bremman. All three docked, ive received my rewards which is tremendous but then??? do i need to return to my home system???? when im requesting next ACM mission, still says Current Assigment remains unresolved.

Im kinda puzzled about that.

If you look in the VDD tab, it will show you when the ACM scenario will end. Since all four ships did not dock, the scenario will not auto-terminate (this only happens if ALL four of them dock), you do not get the *big* reward etc.

So, now, you either restart it or just wait until it times out by itself (at which point it will revert to ROAM and you can continue playing).

Remember, ALL FOUR diplomats have to dock - especially the first one.

So, was it easy, hard, did you find any further problems?

And did you notice the support craft the Syrions sent out? They are under your command btw.

I am thinking of adding dropped cargo pods (with stuff like Radine, weapons etc in them) for destroying certain scenario related assets. But it doesn't look like that would be necessary - or is it?

Don't forget, when an ACM scenario ends, it reverts to Roam, so whatever you had during the campaign, you still have.

Ah oki ty for enlighting me. Unfortunatly, i will have to wait till timer runs out since i lost one in lv104 space battle. So far, no probs xcept that dead prisonner thing already discussed elsewhere. Since im the kamikaze type commander, we decided to take a shortcut..... F12 to Ylisia!!

I took several reload to keep at least 3 out of the 4 diplomats since the escorts (Rabid One and Two) werent completely listening to my orders (hothead commanders i guess). Resnig did a wonderful job lol while my pilots shown extroardinary dogfights skills eliminating pratically any resistance encountered. I noticed a lot of escort ships, and effectivly, the Syrion ship was there.

the ships who arrived safe in Lv130 were

GCV Fearless (with 4 fighters)

GCV Rabid One (with 5 fighters)

GCV Rabid Two (with 8 fighters)

Fal Bremman

Fal Macradis

Fal Shiven

Fal Olanit has been lost when i think like 12 fighters or something attacked at lv103 and 104 which was terrible. I was screaming and cussin orders at my computer for them to protect the Delegates.

Overall, it was a clean, hard and successful mission. Im glad i havent make the trip all the way back by known space as i assume that ambushes are setup here and there in that ACM hehe.

Kamikaze doesn't even begin to describe it.

How did you pull that off? Lemme guess, you towed everyone.

No, they have a rather AI level and as such will sometimes countermand your orders if they think you're being incompetent e.g. sending them to their deaths or against incredible odds, is a definite no-no.

heh, I'm surprised that you actually made it out of Alpha Cygni, to be honest - especially since there is a hostile fleet patrolling Alpha Cygni, Omega Eridani and a few others (had you taken the long way around).

Well, ive actually not gone thru the F12 at LV104 the first time. Here what i did in details.

Of course, after planning and redoing tactical, ive managed from a saved game to save ALL 4 delegates... but at the moment im writing these lines, we're on our way to LV130... thru Tarean sector... which leaves me with a bad feeling...

Here is what i did..

First, ive sold a lot of my inv to get max shield and armor.

Jumps:

1)From Pravis all the way to Otura-6, picking the escort along and fending off attackers.

2)Flux Field 10 to Mundial (believe it or not, 1 jump was necessary! what a luck)

3)From Mundial to Ylisia

4) Flux Field 12 to LV104 in Alpha Cigny (had to fight a couple fighters and carriers, capturing 2 of them)

5)From LV104 to LV103.

A) ive ordered Rabid One and Two to launch all their Fighters.

B) Ive assigned 5 Fighters (8 from both SuperCarriers and my 4 fighters) to each Delegates.

C) Rabid One and Two were protecting my carrier which most of the time was cloaked.

D) Ordered all Delegates to Jump at points before me, that way i know who i have to jump at if they get attacked.

E) Shuttles, patrolling, were ordered to TOW Enemy carriers so they dont launch most of their fighters (giving me EPs and Cash when delivering them to stations)

Tactical:

Rabid One and Fighter Escort were sent to patrol LV105 while Rabid Two and Fighter Escort were securing LV104.

GCV Fearless with fighter Escort secured LV103.

Once Sectors Secured, Fleet gathered in LV103.

Shiven Assigned 5 fighters escort

Macradis Assigned 3 Fighter Escort

Olanit Assigned 5 fighter Escort

Bremman Assigned 5 fighter Escort

Rabid One and Two assigned to protect GCV Fearless.

Waited 10 Minutes fending off multiple hostiles.

Left for LV105

Fight in LV105, loss of 2 fighters.

Fleet went all the way back to Otura 9 for resupply and repair (was on my way to the long way)

Commander Schaffer ordered the fleet to Go back to LV104 and proceed thru Flux Field 12. 67% percent of the crew and fleet composition weren't agreeing with the decision since it might jeopardize the delegates. Since GCV Fearless was in control of mission, convoy followed.

Arrival at LV104, Hyperspace engine of most of the fleet were exausted while others were low on fuel. GCV Fearless took responsabilities to tow ships thru Flux 12. Knowing the risks, CMDR Schaffer used minimal skeleton crew for the first jump.... successful.... 5 hours laters, the entire fleet had passed thru Flux Field 12 with minor damages, mainly to navigation instruments and was on its way home to LV 130..... no ship missing

Yeah, this is why (in the final version to be included in the RC8 patch) I am going to be adding cargo pods in the first opening phase of the scenario and adding Radine etc to them.

2)Flux Field 10 to Mundial (believe it or not, 1 jump was necessary! what a luck)

What did you do with your escorts (assuming they survived the opening skirmish in Pravis) when you jumped through a flux field?

quote:

3)From Mundial to Ylisia

4) Flux Field 12 to LV104 in Alpha Cigny (had to fight a couple fighters and carriers, capturing 2 of them)

5)From LV104 to LV103.

Aren't you glad you have multiple choices?

quote:

heh, no kidding

quote:

ah, right. I really should have modeled in mutiny in the AI logic for crew.

btw, did you know that if you have a probe in a region (that you are not in) that in SCI-LINK mode you can order ships in that region to do jumps from that region to another - as well as give them various orders as if your CC were in their region?

Actually im confused, were Rabid One and Two from Pravis or Gam Sector? anyways, you're right, i forgot that i had to tow them in with about 7 jumps and 2 reload when ending in black hole, else, i was looping around in supernova and original jump area which took most of the time to get to Mundial and they made the entire trip to our final destination which i havent reached yet.....im fighting in lv125.....

As for Probe, i used them once but since i shouldnt leave any of them without one of my fleet ship aroud (causing loss of exps if allies die) i just jumped with them first in each sectors which were the closest and ordered "patrol". but i will definatly use probes later on when im more used to UC.

So far, that ACM is really keeping me tight on my chair and is a real pleasure for the brain to play.... strat, tactical micro management etc...

something you didnt know as well is i was beta tester for early version of BCM but never afford to buy the original game so i never really really learnd all the mechanix of the game but now UC rocks and im looking forward to get the 2 new products by 3000ad and it teams.

They are part of the Wildcat fleet. So that puts them in Otura-9. They conduct covert ops in Omega Centauri and I just divert them (via the script) in order to assist you in the campaign.

btw, did you join up with the two Empirian ships? They later cloak for the duration of the mission.

Really? That must've been back when I did the open Beta program for BCM. Now I see why you're so hell bent on breaking and/or beating my scenario script. Love it.

Considering what you're doing with this campaign, would like to get back in the Beta program? If so, send me a PM.

Yeah, Otura 9 i remember now, had done so many things that im sometime wondering where those ships came from lol...

***Captain's log***

It's been now 3 hours since we entered flux field 12 at LV104. My navigation officer reports several radar echoes behind us. Fortunatly, the static created by the surrounding field is enough to cover our signature if some gammulans fools want to pursue us. I, myself, don't feel quite secure navigating this uncharted area even tho i've seen a lot in this universe. The crew seems to be a bit uneasy, some even spread the rumors that we were lost and wouldn't emerge at the right coordinates. Fools, if only the knew, the black holes are way more dangerous than flux field and i honnestly fear that we end up in one of those starship eaters. I must atted a meeting with my senior officers in an hour, simply to get our actual position if it's possible. I actualy don't want to attend that meeting but as commanding officer, it is my duty to reconfort the crew and tell them that we're safe, even if we all know that we have to expect the unexpected...

ACM 1 was great! all finished and cleared. Now as you said, im being in ROAM mode if i understand. Can i request another ACM Mission?? Ive clicked to request one but nothing happens. All counters are at 00.00.00 and the last one is in green. Should i only roam or wait, parked somewhere for the next mission??

Thats it. You've played it. Its not ACM 1. Thats all the scenarios rolled into one single ACM scenario. You're done. So, what did you get in the end when all four ships safely docked?

ps: You didn't reply to my question about the Empirian ships.

Hmm, by memory.

2 order of the universe.

1 Star of Merit

1 Eye of Andromeda

1 Commander's Shield

bout 330K exps... im not sure about the total amount but i know one i received was 200K

As for the Empirian ships, i dont remember meeting them or prolly didnt go in there sector, prolly i just missed them but i met and still have 2 Syrian ships with me in LV130.

What im gonna do is goin to play it again with the longest road so i see everything i can get out of this ACM campaign. I still have much to learn and i want to become one good commander if im to go online Of course, i need to gather a fleet so i can capture stations (pretty hard to do with 4 fighters and 1 carrier i guess lol)

OK, so you didn't do very well then. Because the ultimate rewards are

+2 COMBAT SHIELD MEDAL

+1 AWARD FOR GALLANTRY MEDAL

+5 PLANETARY SHIELD MEDAL

+4 EYE OF ANDROMEDA MEDAL

+4 COMMANDERS SHIELD

+1 ORDER OF THE UNIVERSE MEDAL

+1 STAR OF MERIT MEDAL

And if all 4 diplomats dock, an additional

+1 ORDER OF THE UNIVERSE MEDAL +200000 EXPERIENCE POINTS

Yeah, you get 200K if all 4 diplomats dock. You should also be at Supreme Cmdr rank.

GCV-MRALISTIV and GCV-SRALTIN are two of the four ships which make up the Wildcat fleet operating in Omega Centauri. Check your COMMLINK log.

So I finally somehow completed the mission and I got message with congratulation and that I am retired from active duty and that's it. I thought Campaign is something big that opens little by little more and more opportunities, like going through campaign missions. Here is only one mission and that's it... I am a little bit confused, that's the shortest campaign I've ever participated in. Is it how it supposed to be or it's just a little joke of some sort? I mean not ROAM, but CAMPAIGN which is between Roam and Instant action.

Thanks.

There are many threads (for example) discussing the campaign in the game. You need to set the forum to display all messages in this forum and then troll through the 15+ pages.
