make diplomats bring more sence into the universe

i think it would be cool to add something like mission profile into the diplomats id tags. something like terran/diplomat/peace negotiation and send him to a hostile let's say space station or base. when he docks at that station after some time maybe some other diplomat ships being called in from other stations, depending on the diplomats AI rating somesing like peace, cease fire, allow docking, drop of prices on trade items in one sector and raise in another could be declared. Or he could offend the rases/casts participating in the negotiations even more and cause them to scrumble a combined fleet to R.A.N.D.O.M his home planet or beseige his launch station...

Also whould be nice to make what's going on in the universe more visible. For example you dock at a station and download a news update into your

comlink and just read the headlines:

"GALCOM HQ is under siege!!! Volunteer NOW! Protect your homeworld! Earth needs you!..."

or

"MARS Exploration bases have used up all their resorces and are organising resettlement expedition. Millitary personel required for transport escort detail. Sign up today and serve the noble cause!" -well, you could be a pirate who just got a valuable information on new prey. those explores have very expensive equipment

i know, it seems like requesting a new mission, just gives you more options to chose from rather than follow oders or don't, you volunteer or you are hire depends on who you are which seems to me brings more sence into Galactic Command Derectives...

Why would Derek want to add such useless code to the game? (imho) It's fine the way it is, the diplomat's where designed to work in the ACM campaign and no where else (although I have seen them in ROAM)

You might see something like this in BCO, but not in UC and BCM because it'll take to much time to code and to much time drawn away from the more IMPORTANT stuff (And no I'm no dev, but I've been on this board long enough to know what Derek considers "important" and "rubbish")

well, i've been looking through some old posts and came across DeepFreeze's comment that no matter how many bases and stations you destroy you are back to square one: and what now? so i turned another one into rubble, who cares? at the end of the shift on station it's not reflected in any other way than extra EPs or Rank. As DeepFreeze said "Sometimes you need to feel good (or bad) about yourself". I'm sure anyone came across a friendly transport jumping into your region with a hostile fighter up his bum, and dispatched a fighter of his own to save the poor bugger from missery. feels nice when your pilots scream "Got him!". I was just thinking about applying something like this on a galactic scale.

The other thing is sudden change of targets in your tacscan from blue or green into red:

-out politcs changed, sorry, buddy, whould you like to taste our IODs?

-not at all, lads, just try my PTAs and QUESTORS first

Then you'll want to wait around for GCO which will give you some of those feature. Until then kick back and have some fun with UC or UCAWA which is soon to be released. Post some shots in the postcards from the edge topic or share some fun adventures you've had in the AAR topic in the fun stuff forum.

oh, yeh, there's no doubt about it. I'm waiting, and itching impatiently... But you know how it is- the galaxy is huge and untill your shields go down and as long as hull in not compromised- the ship flies, the crew are busy reparing, upgrading, training... or entertaining themselves by scratching their bums off duty - your mind wonders. you've got to admit that anyone who plays THE GAME (UC, BC...) got to be an unstoppable dreamer, they really got us into that "Dreamcatcher". (SC, did you pick the distributor because of their name? )...

The GBS scripting tool allows you to write your own scenarios. You can script a diplomat escort mission such that alliances between two or more factions change according to the success or failure of your mission.

If you have nothing to do between now and the next release, why not give the GBS a try?
