BCM Gold Tech Support Issues

BCM Gold is shipping to retail this week and I wanted to post a quick message about tech support and other issues.

  1. BCM and BCM Gold use basically the same single player game kernel. However, that does not mean that you can run the BCMG specific scenarios in BCM and vice versa. That aspect of the game kernel, like multiplayer, is different. Attempt to do this and you will blow up your environment.
  2. When patches are released, if a fix to a shared kernel is made, then there will be patches for both BCM and BCMG. Tech support for BCM (released in 11/01) will cease only when critical issues are no longer evident.

In the case of BCMG, since there are two separate kernels and executables, there will only be updates to whichever one requires it. e.g. if a patch is released for the multiplayer server or client component, then the single player executable will not be affected - thus no patch will be made available for it.

  3. Because BCM and BCMG share the same kernel, the forums are the same. So, when posting a tech support issue, be sure to indicate which product you are reporting. If not stated, BCMG is assumed.
  4. For you newbies who wish to post on this board, remember, you must (a) register your game (B) register to post on the forum © add your system info your board signature if you wish to post in tech support areas. If you post in a tech support section without your SysInfo in your sig, your post may be deleted by an admin or mod.

I also need to mention this again because some people simply don't get it.

IF YOU REGISTER TO POST ON THE BOARD AND YOU FAIL TO INCLUDE YOUR GAME CDKEY, YOUR REGISTRATION WILL BE DECLINED. NO EXCEPTIONS

Every other day, a bunch of registrations are declined for the above reason. Which means that people are simply pressing the AGREE button without reading the text!

  • 4 weeks later...

The next person to

  1. Start a tech topic about an issue that is already cleared discussed and under investigation
  2. Starts a tech topic spanning several relevant and/or irrelevant topics, when only one issue per topic is the norm.

is going to have their posting priviledges revoked without warning.
