Bad movies I like.

I feel my name has been maligned long enough by that SC fellow and his other cronies. (ha,ha) I thought I should list some very guilty pleasures, that won't make anyone's top ten list. Some bad movies are cool because they had no intention to be good or make a lot of money. My own personal pet peeve is the 100 million dollar clunker, that the marketing execs try and convince us is good, when we know it is excrement. Now , some of my favorite bad movies.

The New Kids. An early starring vehicle for James Spader who plays Dutra, a backwoods crime boss who victimizes two new kids who come to town when there parents are killed in a plane crash. However these kids dad was a Green Beret who taught them a lot of nasty tricks they use on the evil Dutra. This one has it all karate , ninjitsu, pit bulls, and an old amusement park where the action takes place. Don't miss this one.

Mauseleum- So bad I cant describe it but laff out loud funny. Notable for featuring LaWanda Page (Sanford and Son's Aunt Esther)as a maid who quits her job when she finds out her boss is possessed.

Deep Rising- Treat Williams and a whole lot a sea monsters. Also has guns , bombs ,waverunners and lots of shit exploding. I love this and even watched the toned down network version on ABC last week.

Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead. Another Treat Williams vehicle. Here he stars with Andy Garcia, Christopher Walken. Williams plays Critical

Bill, an excrement munching psychopath who works out by beating up corpses. Walken plays the "Man With the Plan" (that is really his characters name)

who masterminds this misguided caper flick. Tecnically this has a big budget and big stars but its soooo bad i had to include it.

Trancers- This movie is bad. But likeable. Tim Thomerson plays Jack Death with such a straight face he convinced me he is a good actor. Just inventive enough to engage you but coupled with some of the worst special effects since Plan 9.

Spawned a host of higher budgeted sequels, equally bad, and yes, I've seen them all.

Basket Case. Simply awful. Tasteless, abysmal special effects and abolutely no redeeming qualities. Roger Ebert called it" The sickest movie I've ever seen" I concur. I've seen it ten times.

The Toxic Avenger. Need I say more? I think not.

Force 10 from Navvarone. A dreadful sequel to a great action movie, starring Harrison Ford and Carl Weathers. This movie sucks on so many levels I cant list them. There are parts where Ford sounds as if he is reading the lines in the script. But I own it on VHS and eagerly await a DVD release.

Starship Troopers. Casper Van Diems best work. I know this movie is bad but the effects are so cool, Denise Richards is so hot and I can watch Micheal Ironside in anything.

Lost In Space. can you beleive Matt LeBlanc only got this role after his bud Matthew Perry turned it down? I cant belive anyone at the studio watching dailies really thought this movie was going to be good. Yet I still own it and watch it a least twicw a year.

An exhautive list but I'm sure you can add your own. And SC are there any on hear you like?

Wing Commander: you watch it for Saffron Burrows and the campy mood, not the mish-mash of styles, as Chris Roberts couldn't decide whether he wants to make space fighter movie or submarine movie or marine action movie. The editing only made it worse.

Deep Blue Sea: Saffron Burrows again... Killer sharks, genetically enhanced, is herding the humans to their doom to escape... Think modern Jaws... except something's kinda missing in the movie. The ending twist is cute.

Starship Troopers. I was flipping through channels, got one look at Neil Patrick Harris saying "Brain Bug", pursed my lips, blinked a couple times, and kept surfing.

Tank Girl was good I thought.

Krull. Really bad but interesting for the fact that I saw in an interview. Was the first time in hundreds of years anyone had saddled and ridden Clydesdales. Blurb about the Clydales. Seems to me there was a lot of hype about this one.

And an old Sci Fi movie where John Boy Walton was the hero. Not really John Boy but the Actor you know who.

That's about all I can think of. Well you could try Existenz. Weird little multi layered film about virtual reality. Or The Cube. Genius's/specialists in different fields are thrown into a 1000 story tall cube and must navigate the deadly hazards in each room to escape.

But that's it. Really.

Love Force 10 from Navarone!

Two of my picks:

Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man - Don Johnson, Mickey Rouke and one of the Baldwin brothers (not sure which one.)

1941 - John Belushi, Dan Ackroyd, Treat Williams, Robert Stack, John Candy, Christopher Lee, and Slim Pickens.

"Battle Beyond the Stars" I believe it was called. Richard Thomas is the actor.

I only know cos it was on the UK Sci-Fi channel the other day. I didn't stop to see the end. Or the beginning for that matter.

That was one of my first ever SCI-FI flicks and it was/is pretty cool. Looks very dated now but still enjoyable.

Believe it or not acclaimed director John Sayles, who is a personal favorite and directed Matewan and Eight Men Out, is responsible for the screenplay to Battle Beyond the Stars. Everybody's gotta start somewhere!

I also believe George Peppard and Robert Vaughan maybe(?) appeared in it. It is based loosely on The Seven Samurai. IIRC, Robert Vaughan starred in The Magnificent Seven, also based on The Seven Samurai.

Funny eh?

from the original post I KNOW only the 2 last

I enjoy action movie for the action, i don't try to find a love story, although it's a bonus. Godzilla anyone?

Starship troopers, ahh the spray and pray movie. Rifles that semingly have hundreds of bullets in a small clip, fire extemely fast but put a scope on it and voilà, there's a sniper rifle. Did i say I loved it?

Bad movies?

K...

Enemy Mine ... you cant beat an alien dissing Mickey Mouse expecting the human to think it was blasphemy...

Flash Gordon movies. Corny. Corny. Corny. But... you still watch it. Springer syndrome must be.

SPHERE // Andromeda Strain : same type of suspense scifie movie.. both leave you hanging for the finaly like a cheesy 60's italian movie where all you do is watch an old toothless woman chew hard bread. And when the end finally does come you're like 'hey i knew that was gunna happen 10 seconds after the movie started!'

REALLY old movie: Earth Star Voyager. Yes, its from Disney. Yes its kids in a spaceship. But hot dawg it was a hoot to watch. Only disney real-actor movie ive seen that doesnt go cliche cliche cliche .. but it is just that.. a kids movie. a bad one too.

The Black Hole : R2D2 reborn? gimme a break.

Treasure Island : An euro film, placed in the far future. With the characters taking off from 'Romanapoli' (a megalopolis in the yeat 3000 or something) in a spaceship and heading to some planet full of pirate treasure. I ALMOST PLUCKED MY EYES OUT. It was that bad. But the parrallels to the original Treasure Island just made you watch it.

PINOCHIO: Another euro film. Really, what the heck are they doing making movies? This one aint just corny. its popcorny. As in, it explodes from being so corny. popopopppopppopopop and then that acrid burnt smell is all thats left from your synapses.

Mom and Dad Saved the World : If it wasnt for the VERY funny stuff in the movie it'd qualify as a really bad movie. Its bad, but funny. That make sense?

ok id have to agree with a few on the lists mainly the black hole (loved it) and starship troopers (verhoeven raped the book).

as for my personal favs that were so bad(cheesey/corny), low budget, they were good

my #1 favorite, Army of Darkness cmon that was cheese personified

#2 the rest of the evil dead series.

#3 every klaus kinsky B horror movie (nosferatu, the bloody dead to name a few)

#4 highlander 2 mainly because it didnt fit in with the other movies, and the plotline blew, but i agree with race, i can watch michael ironsides in anything

#5 spies like us (whatsa dikfer??? to pee with)

#6 last man standing (bruce willis in some one horse town in the 30's killing everything in sight)

#7 the adventures of Ford Fairlane the diceman and wayne newton... nuff said.

F##king Ford Fairlane! Brilliant! Wasn't that chick from Lois and Clark in there? She was hottt!

Excellent choice! How about another James Spader flick? Supernova sucked superass, yet I still watch it when it comes on. I need medication.

ummm i dont think so. the chick from dumb and dumber is... lauren holly (the only reason i remember her name is cause she has breasts that defy gravity) also priscilla presley was in it, and the dude who played freddie krueger.

ford fairlane was a classic... pitching wayne newton as an evil recording executive was spoon, the one liners (we just wanted to be held... you got the bonus plan baby)

and who can forget the car???

as for the AoD dvd, i got one, but i dont think its the one you got Forever Light... i dont remember seeing an alternate ending... you got the directors cut or something???

Tremors 4: The Legend Begins.

Not as good as the first three films, but good nevertheless. I picked it up at WalMart last night bundled with a copy of the original Tremors.

whoa!! Tremors is my all-time favorite B flick and I didn't know about a #4. Gotta grab that when I go out next.

I haven't seen a new series on USA in a while, did they can it?
