Here Come Da Draft! Uh oh!

Recommended Posts

Ahem,

Jag is going to have a field day with this one.....

/Wolferz grabs his excrement stirring stick and grins a wide toothy grin, like the Cheshire Cat before it disappears, puts a clothes pin on his nose, then turns toward the pot and plows the stick into the steaming reek and stirs vigorously.

The Democrats want you Serve your Country

Edit: I can't believe Someone hasn't picked up on this one yet. But such seems the secretive nature of our elected officials these days.

What say you ye wankers? I'm glad I'm not 18-26 years of age anymore

I see that the Dem's want to institute a draft.

Of course they do, since they have been claiming that this is gonna be another Vietnam, we have to have MORE people.

Since the President won't request it, they have decided to take it upon themselves to make it happen.

It has a snowballs chance in Haides of passing, and that is as it should be.

Our REAL soldiers, the ones that volunteered, do NOT want to be stuck in a foxhole with some Draftee, and that is a fact, it ain't gonna happen.

But it sure is fun to watch the Dem's freaking out.

Was that fast enough for ya Wolferz?

Already did my Tour of Duty. Let them play in the mud!

Most people below the age of 30 I've seen need to be shaken out of their delusions!

Let slip the Dogs of War!

I was wondering who was casting that circling Vulture Shadow.

Oh, It's not just draftees for the military, it's draftees for national service, which is just a more flavorful version to precipitate steering some new bodies into the military.

Once there, you're stuck boys and girls.

The Blue bus doesn't go back to the airport.

Been reading about it on Yahoo message boards for weeks. Was waiting on ya'll to pick it up. hehe

Some people theorize that it was a protest to the war. That's right. A protest. The thinking is that if you want to start a war let's see how you like it if YOUR (meaning the politician's) kids would have to serve. I don't particularly agree with that thinking but it's out there.

I am against conscription into to the armed forces for an odd reason. It's not that I don't like war, I don't. It's because so many kids nowadays are diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, Bipolar disorder, and who knows what else that they have been on drugs since they were six. Do we really want all these crazies knowing how to operate weapons? At least now with volunteers the ones who are crazy get kicked back. Hopefully. I wonder about Jag though.

So my reasoning is this; if all these crazies know how to operate weapons what's the first thing they are going to turn to when they go off the deep end?

Why Turkish Hash of course! Supplied by good 'ol Uncle Sam himself.

"Ain't no time to wonder why, Whoopee! we're all gonna die"

And Jag said Iraq wasn't going to be another Vietnam "bye Mom, Bye Dad" "I'm going off to be serviced by my country."

"Save the big pieces, we need organ donors."

Now I don't wish I was 19 =

I also heard about this, but I also hear that females DO NOT have to serve since the draft won't draft females into the military

Personaly I'm AGAINST that. If you live in this country (male or female) you should help in its defense.

I don't like the draft, I plan on joining the military volunteerly. I havn't enlisted yet because of the god forsaken (insert every curse word in the american, japanese, germen, italien, spanish, greek, latin, and every other language.. including Klingon, in this little spot) high school profinency exam.

I passed reading with a 800+ score

I passed writing with a level 12 score (highest you can go in this state)

Math is the only one I can't pass. Last time I got a 291 *in point to low*

if I can't pass the math, I can't join the military (unless the draft is initiated)

But still, I have NO WISH to join the military as a draftee! I will join VOLUNTEERLY and die for my country

If at all possible, please don't "die for your country". The objective would be to make someone else die for theirs.

*Sigh* The Military missed their chance for me to join. I would have signed a waiver (for my asthma) to go to the Naval Academy last summer. Oh well, they missed their chance.

Kal, I don't agree with the men and women thing. Hell, I don't agree with a draft at all but when it comes down to it, many women don't have the physical aptitude to make it in the military, and the DIs at bootcamp don't need to spend the extra time to get a bunch of draftee women (or men for that matter, many men don't have the physical aptitude for the military; some by disorders like me God I hate Asthma) into shape. Draft implies that we need troops and we need troops fast. I don't think that the situation in Iraq has risen to that level yet.

Oh, and I agree with Shingen, you don't volunteer to "Die for your country" you volunteer to protect your country and the lives of others. If we we're getting invaded ourselves maybe that would apply, but then again, I'd be forming a militia down here... Don't mess with Georgia.

A whole bunch of someone elses, Shingen.

Only problem in Iraq at present is we don't know what country the current killees are from.

Kal,

Learn and practice Murphys' laws of Combat Operations.

The first and foremost law is,

"Incoming Fire has the right of way!"

#2. You are NOT! Superman.

#3. Remember, your equipment was made by the lowest bidder and most likely assembled by handicapped employees.

#4. See #2.

#5. If your attack is going well, it's an ambush.

#6. Try not to look too important, the enemy may be low on ammo.

#7. Remind yoiurself again of #2.

#8. If the main attack appears to be coming right at you, it's a feignt, and the main attack will be behind you.

#9. Every man finds one of three things in a foxhole with him, fear,God, or both.

#10. Did I mention #2? I can't stress that one enough.

#11. Friendly fire, isn't.

I've read up on Murphy's Law, my father has taught me about it a lot

And I know full well I ain't Superman, if I was I would be over in Iraw and Afgan searching for Osama Bicrudehead (did I get that creeps name right?)

As for dieing for my country, if I have to I will, but I plan on not having it come to that.

NOW if my country is invaded. I have no problem fighting back (checks the gun cabinat) yep.. hmmm 4 rifles, M16, 3 shotguns... hmm as for ammo, hell I ain't saying where I keep that at

The fact that they wish to war with America is cause enough... country or no country.

Well, the minute I saw in my recent driver's license renewal (in late March when the renewal came) that by renewing it I was agreeing that I would be called to serve my country, I knew something was up. So, I'm not terribly surprised.

General George Patton

It's actually attributed to him, because the only place this have ever been said was in the movie, historically there is no proof that he ACTUALLY said it, but it sounds like something he would have said.

@Deepfreeze

Nice attempt at an insult, a low one, but an insult none the less and here's my reponse

Just be thankful there are some people here brave enough to fight for there freaking country... and not sit behind a freaking T.V. set watching a stupid football game saying "Boy am I glad I'm not fighting for my country, I would never be able to watch football again"

I'm not saying you're one of those people, but it burns me up when I hear people say "Better you than me", cause that lets me know that they are a nobody, a coward, and a mistake

I respect those who have legitamate reasons (like being marreide and having a kid, or having some type of disability) for not joining, hell to be honest I wouldn't want someone with ADD or something to be right next to me (then again, I was dianosed with ADD, but apperently they must've misdianosed cause as far as I know I have no Attention Deficent Disorder, hell if I did then why would the Air Force want me?)

Sorry if my comments sound kinda rude, but I'm a military man and by saying that I get very edgy when military matters come up

Deepfreeze, before i say anything more. Please reply and tell me you're NOT insulting my choice to join and fight for my country, cause if you are insulting me then I can't gurrentee a friendly response (In other words, be warned)

I am very grateful. I don't think I could.

I hate sports. I don't watch all that much television. But I do understand your comment is more about the selfishness of people.

quote:

I'm not saying you're one of those people,

Thank you very much for that qualification. This is the sort of qualifying that makes harsh statements less hurtful.

quote:

but it burns me up when I hear people say "Better you than me", cause that lets me know that they are a nobody, a coward,

That also shows selfishness.

I am sorta mad at that part of your statement.

Thank you.

Kal,

It is admirable in my eyes that you wish to join the ranks of other brave citizens.Compared to some of the limp biscuits I went through Basic training with, you are a true hero. Most of those boys were only there for the College money.

More on this later in the War Stories thread in the rubbish pit

Don't let anyone insult you for your convictions.

By that I mean..."Insult can't be given, unless taken." You will be taking an oath to defend our freedoms, including Freedom of speech.

Please don't take negative comments to heart, because every citizen of our country has a right to their say and as a proud member of our military, it will become your obligation to uphold that right. No matter how angry some moreoffs' comment makes you, remember that the moreoff is as free to say it as you are.

Dying for your country is such a simple and parochial statement. To put this more into

perspective, donÔÇÖt forget youÔÇÖd also be fighting for liberals, crack heads, drug dealers, bums,

criminals, the rich who will buy their way out of the draft, big corporations etc Under the dying for your country motto, you will be doing this to preserve their way of life also. If I go to war to fight and kill or be killed, it will be to protect my family nothing more nothing less.

I know your penchant for being thorough, SC, but I just have to ask...

Did it actually sayWOULD be called???

Hmmm, A convenient Congressional bypass, or what???

This is very very disturbing in my book.

Having the states remove your driving privledge if you don't sign an open ended draft card is the biggest load of horse hockey I could ever imagine in my wildest dreams.

We won't have to worry about Socialism anymore, Jag. We're heading headlong into blatant full blown Fascism. I wonder who started that?

Anyone want a piece of this American Federal Empire cake?
