Uniformed troops should bring a sense of shame

Now here is a letter to the editor that just sent me ballistic.

Sound off Commanders....

Scroll down

From The Olympian in Olympia Washington. I go there once a week bought the paper for 50 cents to read while I was eating lunch.

quote:

Of all of the archaeological digs, the most fascinating is that which passes down through the different levels of old Troy, where, at some point beneath those cities upon cities, we hope to find Achilles and his beloved Patroclus and all of that wrath with which our world began.

The greatest impediment to world peace are the illusions surrounding war.

Duty and sacrifice are the myths with which old men send young men off to die.

Soldiers do not fight for flag or democracy; they fight for existential reasons -- their survival and that of their comrades.

And when they choose to die for another, it is not out of patriotism, but because in that moment they understand that they and the other are one, that their true reality is in their identity and unity with all life.

Flag waving is sentimentality. True patriotism is an intimate knowledge of the great documents on which this democracy is grounded, and working each day to bring their benefits to all people.

If we wish to end unnecessary wars, we must stop the enshrinement of the military and of our war dead.

Each time we see a man in uniform, a deep sense of defeat and shame should overcome us.

And when parents lose their children in battle, they should see no pride in the slaughter of youth but vent a justified rage that their child has been robbed of life and lost the joy of children and of bringing into the world grandchildren.

James Scofield, Olympia

I cannot tell you how much this pissed me off, it is indescribable......

quote:

Each time we see a man in uniform, a deep sense of defeat and shame should overcome us.

WTF? Each time you see a man in uniform you should be on your knees thanking him for protecting your sorry ass, and protecting that document that you say you love. You fricking liberal socialist IDIOT!!!

If you do NOT have the power to protect that which is important, some other human being with other beliefs will come and take it from you and force theirs on you.

When you see a soldier in uniform, you should walk up and thank him for his or her service to your country, and the fact that they are willing to lay thier lives down for you and your freedoms.

You inconsiderate, clueless, educated beyond your intelligence, moron!!!

quote:

And it's NOT a Democracy you fricking idiot, it's a REPUBLIC!!!

Thanks for putting up with my sounding off guys, but this just pissed me off....

Good one for my 3100the post I suppose...LOL

Nice comeback there Jag. Did you send a copy to Jim Scofield?

Personally, I would like to sit and pick the man's brain as to why he felt the need to present such a negative opinion of those who have, and now currently protect his freedom to spew that monkey crap.

His diatribe, for all intensive purposes, shows to everyone with one eye and half sense, that he is quite ignorant as to why those of us who sacrafice/d our own personal safety to defend this republic from all enemies, did so. Probably because he parks his fat ass in his Lazy-boy every evening and feels his own shame for not being physically capable of doing what Jag and I and so many others have done; protected his freedom to sit in his lazy-boy and dream up monkey crap to put in print.

I wonder if his tune would change if an enemy touched off a bomb while he was waiting in line at Ben & Jerry's?

No, but I got on the Olympian forum and sounded off BIG time, I hope the jerk sees it.

It really angers when clueless people like this guy are given a place to publish such garbage.

Then again, I read the letters to the editor today online, and people are now writing about the FACT filled movie made by Michael Moore.

I mean COME ON!! What kind of Moron takes Michael Moore movies seriously and fact laden? I was just dumbstruck, totally dumbstruck that such idiots are allowed to walk around, they ought to be intitutionalized.... LOL

Gee I dunno Jaguar... you took Bush's 2003 State of the Union as fact laden... and Cheney's "mushroom clouds"... and Condi's "mushroom clouds" and likely the report a week ago of three nukes found in Iraq, etc. etc. I think that perhaps you should look toward your own gullible nature before pointing the finger at others.

You want to paint me as a liberal Jaguar but I am not a liberal I am a Republican that has HAD ENOUGH and when I'm through running this CHARLATAN out of office I will vote for McCain/Giuliani in 2008. But the business at hand is to RELIEVE a LIAR of his Presidency. This ass did not serve his term in the guard, he lied about the Iraqi threat and he failed to get Osama.

What did he accomplish... well amazingly he got a Unocal consultant appointed to run Afghanistan and AMAZINGLY they ressurected a pipeline deal from the ashes that will deliver oil from former Soviet Republics through Afghanistan and into ports in Pakistan... BLOODY F'ING AMAZING! Yet where the hell is Osama? Where is JUSTICE for our people... oops ... sorry that didn't seem to be a priority *snickers*. If it was a priority we would be making sure that Pakistan delivered us Osama instead of placating them. And meanwhile we have the highest prices for oil in 21 years and a trumped up economy. Number one standard of living in the world... is it America? NOPE... NORWAY... F'ING NORWAY! Nice work George... my heritage is Norwegian... thanks for putting us on the map.

Oh and Jaguar... thanks for being great comedic relief.

WTF is that, I tool the 3 nukes in Iraq seriously? first off, there was ONE source, an Iraqi Newspaper, so NO, I did NOT take it seriously, you need to get a grip.

Really? you're NOT a liberal? you sure spout the liberal Dogma a lot. Let's go over these socalled truths below, ONE AT A TIME, shall we? And YES, you are a liberal, no if's and's or but's.

quote:

But the business at hand is to RELIEVE a LIAR of his Presidency.

Ahh yes, that old dog again, this thing just keeps rising from the dead. What? You don't think the truth is out there to be found, so you're gonna continue saying it?

The US Senate, the 911 committee, the Brits, the Russians, have ALL said that the CIA and their intelligence agencies had FAULTY information, that they gave Bush. Rumsfeld and Bush, AND Cheney, ALL questioned the intelligence, ARE YOU SURE, are you POSITIVE? The CIA etc came back with we got the goods, take him down.

Bush had faulty info from the CIA, therefore, ERGO, he thought that he was telling the truth, so, ERGO, he didn't lie.

Typical liberal tactic, since it is a lie now, but wasn't then, then he lied then.... What a crock of crap.

So, did Hillary lie when she said that her husband had NOT had an affair with Monica?

quote:

This ass did not serve his term in the guard,

Another LIBERAL LIE, the New York Times put this to bed WEEKS ago. Bush got an honorable discharge from the Guard, he showed up for his duty in Alabama, and MADE up the time that the lost because of the Senate Campaign he was working on, oh, and the General that made those statements, has said, REPEATEDLY, that the press misrepresented and misquoted what he said. Bush served his time and was given an HONORABLE discharge, and if you were AWOL, no matter WHOSE son you were, then you did NOT get an honorable discharge.

quote:

he lied about the Iraqi threat

We dealt with this lie above.

quote:

and he failed to get Osama.

Can I give you a little hint, it's REAL hard to get someone who gets hit with a bunker buster that is followed up with a 5000 pound fuel air explosive. There wasn't enough of Osama to put into a THIMBLE. He died in Tora Bora, no matter how hard Al Quaeda would like you to think otherwise.

No thank you for spouting the liberal lies so that I could refute them. and some REAL comic relief, although, most things that are funny, actually have a LITTLE bit of truth in them, so it really isn't all that good comedically speaking.

BTW, the president DOES NOT control the economy, he controls the governments economic policies and ONLY with permission from Congress, so don't forget who shares the blame, if there is indeed blame.

For in fact the economy is ROARING, and it is amazing, considering that Clinton killed it with the largest tax hike in history, and then we got hit with 911.

You, little boy, need to get a grip on reality, because the world you live in does NOT exist.

Nice try Tak

I see you're another Gas Bush Basher

When will these people learn that

THE PRESIDENT HAS NO CONTROL OVER THE GAS PRICES!!!

Jesus Christ (excuse my language) you people SERIOUSLY need to read up the president's dutys, and I'm not talking about from our liberal and biased history books. I'm talking about finding this information from offical and truthful sources

A Little reality check

The president has more thing's to worry about than Gas Prices.

To be honest, this is a small price to pay in my opinion. Besides, this will prove to be an advantage to us, cause then people will start doing the thing done a looong time ago

Carpool...

The president has a country to run, the only way he'll get involved is if it turn's out to be a threat to our country, and right now it isn't

Tak, do use all a favor and spare us the liberal propaganda cause it won't work here

Anywho, Jaguar, I must disagree with you on the Osama part. I have this odd feeling he is very much alive, you maybe right that he is dead. But until we find proof speculation is not enough, plus speculating on something without evidence or anything would actually prove to be a disadvantage

I'm praying he's dead.

That's fine, but it's real hard to get evidence when he's fine grey ash buried under tons of rock.

The fact of the matter is, we have not seen him on video since that bombing, we have heard audio tape, but each of those has been checked and they have all proven NOT to be Osama, but either cutins and editing of earlier recordings, that would be blatantly obvious on video, or a fake.

I am 99% positive that we got him in Tora Bora, and Al Quaeda cannot afford to admit it, because then they will be without their spiritual leader.

No, he's downstairs, enjoying the red hot fires of hell, or so I hope, if there is such a place.

Otherwise, he probably gets first pick of his 72 virgins and all the rest get the leftovers....

"Otherwise, he probably gets first pick of his 72 virgins and all the rest get the leftovers...."

I wonder if that's 72 virgins for everyone, or 72 virgins each. LOL, can someone find the official reference.

I asked my arabic friend to look this up for you

(An-Naba 78:31-34)

"Verily, for the righteous, there will be a paradise; gardens and grapeyards; and young full-breasted maidens of equal age; and a full cup of wine"

(Hadith number 2,562)

"The reward for the people of Heaven is 80,000 servants and 72 wives, over which stands a dome of pearls, aquamarine and ruby."

Now , when I read this: I APPLAUD this man: James Scofield...for his RATIONAL, and his INTELLIGENT, insight, into REALITY!

You see, I am not taking it OUT of perspective, and blaming the man for ATTACKING the military personel, but ACKNOWLEDGING, the reality, that it is a FAILURE... that WAR is a necessity at all...that men must fight and die..for such rediculous reasons....as when another "CONTROL FREAK" gains some political power...and forces, mankind into such conflicts.

AMEN!! James....I SEE your perspective.
