Kalshion
quote: Stewart Stogel, NewsMax.com Friday, Sept. 2, 2005 When the Indian Ocean tsunami devastated many nations across Asia in December, the United States rushed to the aid of victims by pledging hundreds of millions of dollars in assistance ÔÇô just as it has offered aid whenever a natural disaster strikes in another country. Now the U Shameful: Only 25 Nations Offer Help to the U.S. quote: Armed gangs of roaming thugs are the primary reason relief efforts in flood-ravaged New Orleans have been delayed, a prominent New York congressman said Friday morning. Aperson
From the first article. quote:Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has decided that "no offer that can help alleviate the suffering of the people in the afflicted area will be refused," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said. quote: Russia has offered boats and aircraft. On Wednesday, Russian president Vladimir Putin offered to send a group of military special forces specializing in search and rescue to the region. That offer was rejected by the State Department. Commenting on the lack of foreign after the American goverment just refused it (contradicting themselves in the meantime) is just silly. This is basicly saying "we don't want your help" and if the U.S. goverment keeps rejecting foreign aid offers than I have little sympathy if people say: "But never helped during hurrican Kantrina". On article 2 and 4: Some people have poor morals and others are just bigots.
Kalshion
I heard about FEMA rejecting Germany's help. That being said, don't condemn an entire country just because of one misguided organization, Aperson, one organzation doesn't speak for all of America
Aperson
I wouldn't, hence why I specified the goverment and I would only condem the organization if it kept rejecting aid offers (I probably had poor use of tence). Which, so far it appears it has. If what the article, you and nomad say is true, that's three countries FEMA rejected so far. Mostly I didn't like the spin of the NewMax article. Kalshion
*blinks* New's Max is another new's source I go there now to get my new's because there unbiased and don't "create" or "menipulate" storys like the Main Stream Media now There pretty much the only "trustworthy" source of new's within the US now... I can't even trust Fox News and that right there tell's me that our meadia is going to hell

Kalshion
*blinks* Nice to know that new's source's that tell the truth are considered "Ring Wing Hack Outfit"
Guest $iLk
Newmax IS a right-wing hack outfit. Even conservatives realize that. Newsmax is the same "unbiased truthful source" that talked about Saddam storing nuclear/chemical weapons prior to our invasion with 'proof' that exagerrated even administration claims. Newsmax is the WORST source for anything. You've got to do so much filtering to get the truth out of it I'd rather read Free Republic as being less biased. That being said - each of those stories has a 'real' link somewhere that is a bit less biased.
Kalshion
Well, THAT I didn't know... might be because I've always found them MORE INFORMATIVE than Fox News, CNN, and all the other main stream medias I didn't exactly appriciate my thread being turned into this... Someone Delete this thread please.. I was hoping to have a general discussion about these storys (NOT THE SOURCE) but since people only care about bashing the source and not wanting to have a discussion, well, then this thread doesn't need to be here.. again.. someone delete it please [ 09-03-2005, 11:33 AM: Message edited by: Kalshion ]
Guest Remo Williams
I myself can care less if the source leans right or left you can filter out what is creditable to you and just don't read what you consider bias pretty simple. Now unless the topic was created to discuss the stance of a certain media group stick to the topic at hand or I will start deleting topics that stray in this manner. Its pretty easy to post links that point to the truth of the matter as you see it, right.
